This for me, is the very best version of this beautiful song. It is soo haunting. IOld as it is judging by the grainy video, it was indeed the best.

Then the Stockmann rides up with his dry dusty throat He breasts up to the bar and pulls a wad from his coat But the smile on his face quickly turns to a sneer As the barman says sadly the pub's got no beer.

I played this song at my father's funeral a few weeks ago, it was our special song. It's hard to listen to it now as my heart is shattered into a million pieces, I loved my dad with all of my heart 💔
I woke up to this this morning and I know everything is going to be ok…Love and prayers to anyone suffering right now ❤🙏..Leeds to Longford 🇨🇮

My Grandad, a well respected Rag'n'Bone man with his horse and cart, would sing this song, after a skinful at the local pub, loudly in the streets at night about my Nan. They married when she was 16, he was 17. He was in the 1st world War and on his release he went to the workhouse, where unmarried mother's were put, and told her "c'mon gal, we're getting married'...... they went on to have 9 more children. Her name was Maggie and he would sing the old song 'Maggie' as well. My grandad was Harry Luffman. God rest their souls❤❤
