    People throwing shade because they see these guys hit a few chunk shots have completely missed the point. 1. The guys are specifically talking about how it feels when you hit a bad shot 2. If you have a single surface “fairway style Matt” then the surface is way less relevant if you are hitting perfect shots every time. 3. Put a few videos of your “pro swing” up so we can all critique you too…. I bet you’re the same sort of guys that yell at the TV telling PGA or LIV players what they did wrong…

  • @carlsplace
    @carlsplace15 күн бұрын

    Hey Mark! It’s possible that the calibration on any monitor may need to be updated from time to time if any changes are made to the mounted/calibrated position. For example if the iO is mounted level on a frame but over time become out of level you may need to adjust/re-level the mount and update the calibration. In our experience we’ve found that our Carl’s Place Frame mounts do a good job at securely mount monitors when properly installed and have not needed consistent recalibration!

Unless you’re a 3 or less handicap i dont trust anybody’s expectation for their swing. But what you all just did, that i trust. Great job, love that you do this. Surprised you dont get more views for these accuracy videos. Question:. Did your driver accuracy numbers include the shots you felt things were not set up correctly? Can you describe a little better what you felt was the issue on your set up at first? You mentioned ball position in relation to the laser dot. Could you not see the dot well or were you just moving away from it to a better spot on the mat?

    Hey! Thanks for the kind words! If I remember correctly, yes, the driver numbers did include the shots that we felt were not set up perfectly. While it may involve a few extra steps to switch between lefties and righties, it would be interesting to see what is actually involved in the process. Would you need to recalibrate it or if you had a precalibrated spot on each side that you move it to, would it be pretty straight forward. How much of an issues is the cable management etc.

  • @carlsplace
    @carlsplaceАй бұрын

    Those are great questions! We did not test for that as that's not what it was created for, but we imagine it might need to be recalibrated and would be a hassle with cable management. There are other radar options that side behind the golfer in the same price range, but just need to make sure you have enough depth in your room!

  • @erikmarko1660
    @erikmarko1660Ай бұрын

    @@carlsplace While it may not be what it was created for, at it's very attractive price point for a camera unit and my limited space, this would be an ideal solution. I'm a lefty and would be the primary user but on the odd occasion I would need to accommodate a righty, it would be interesting to know if it is feasible. Cable management aside, which is likely the easiest to overcome, I understand GSPro allows you to set it up in a way such that a player could play 1-2 holes before switching, which would limit the amount of moving the unit around. I haven't seen any videos showing how this would work for the EML, EM or GC3, etc. in terms of logistically moving it, recalibrating (if needed but hopefully not as long as it is place in a precalibrated spot.)

    I've just taken delivery of an Eye Mini Lite and lined it up next to my GC2. The Eye Mini Lite is under-reading ball speed (and hence carry) but up to 15 yards on longer clubs, versus the GC2 I'd be interesting in seeing some testing from your channel to see how accurate you find it.

    I am having same issues. My carry is almost 2 clubs shorter on my wedges through 6 iron. my hybrids and woods are weird as well. They all bunch within 25 yards of each other without a huge distinction. FWIW, I am not a great golfer (14 handicap) but I know what my carry/play yardage is on well-struck balls. I am not getting anywhere near that with my mini lite. I put in proper elevation on it and everything. I am in MI so elevation is not changing enough to account for the discrepancy either. Should also add I had a buddy come over who is an 9 handicap and just got his bag mapped by his coach at a trackman launch facility. He noticed the same under-read on the ball speeds.

    Some other tips I have learned: Select the single camera single viewer option (instead of dual cam) r-click the newest clip in your capture history and select "open as replay observer" When doing this you can hit balls one after another, and each time the newest clip will play automatically This is good if you don't want to fiddle with stuff and you can see the screen from where you're hitting You can also open two Kinovea sessions at once, if you have dual monitors Then you can do what I mentioned above, but have both cameras (down the line, and face-on) plus the auto-replay

But if you read some other comments and watch some other videos, you'll realize that we were purposely taking bad swings to actually hit the mat to get a feel for how forgiving they were on the joints, but also how they punished fat shots. We know we aren't professional golfers and that's not the point. Both of us typically pick the ball clean on a good swing, so we had to change things up to truly test out the mat.
