    Nice loops on a very nice spot! Which kite you prefer best the Reedin or the Orbit? I have Reedin HTF at the moment but thinking about switching to Orbits. I also see you using the Reedin bar on the Orbit, does that work properly?

  • @Alexomator
    @Alexomator5 күн бұрын

    Thanks, it was a good day. For loops I do prefer the Orbit. It is faster than the Supermodel and it catches better. As an allround kite I do miss my Supermodels. From all other allround kites I´ve tried I think they perform the best. But the Orbit is now gone too ... I wonder if I will miss it :) The Dreamstick works like a charm. I really love it due to the low diameter and the Linesmith.eu lines I´ve put on it. I never knew but lines make a huge difference in feeling the kite. With the super snappy linesmith.eu lines the feeling of the orbit changed drastically. When you are lit you can feel the frame of the kite work with microadjustments down in the bar. It does start to vibrate or shake, a very unfamiliar feeling at first glance, but on the second thought it gives you super awesome feedback on whats to come. Normally I´ve been looking for a pull in the hook before the jump to identify if the jump is going to boost me into sufficient heights for loops. If I have to lean back I know its going to be 6-7m and safe for loops. Now if I have the bar vibrating for the first two seconds of the jump I know its double digit. I´m really loving them and can 100% encourage everyone to get good lines.

    Looks good! Planning to do my first Loops this season, but right now still a bit too afraid to pull through when in the air :D . What would you recommend as first loops, maybe low hight, so the kite doesn´t need to catch me?

  • @Alexomator
    @Alexomator2 ай бұрын

    Micro or baby-loops should be the first step. They are quite easy. You can find super good intros from kitesurf college or others. Follow them closely! Other than that ... micro or baby-loops as mentioned, below 1,5m. Next is jumps into the wind with at least 6m in height. I´m not sponsored by north, but I must admit, the Orbit 2024 is a super boost in both relevant fields: height and speed.

    @Alexomator3 ай бұрын

    Ja so fühlt es sich für mich an. Ich musste einige Instructionals sehen um festzustellen wie man herausfindet wie der Kite am angenehmsten und zügigsten durchlooped. Bei mir ist das wenn ich einige cm die Bar rausschiebe. Schau dir mal die Videos von @jasonofmontreal an, dort siehst du, dass jemand mit mehr Erfahrung die Bar im Loop mit Gefühl nachführt. Zieht der Kite zu stark, ein wenig raus mit der Bar.

  • @Alexomator
    @Alexomator2 ай бұрын

    This was on the most northern point, directly in front of the military area. The place is only available very rarely on super high tides. Wind needs to push water for at least two days into the german bay and you need moon and high tide to get so much water there. This happens about twice a year. Wind from East - no chance on Römö. But take the ferry to Sylt and kie at the Ellenbogen!

  • @Alexomator

    I wouldn´t strongly advise on an Orbit in Langebaan. Strong wind is not oftenm to be found up there. Typically for Langebaan either 9, 12, 15 for Twintip, or if you´ve got TT and foil, go for a 7,9 and 12.

Cheers :) perhaps we go to Milford together once i am good and your made your way back here again.

  • @Alexomator
    @Alexomator5 ай бұрын

    It´s the de-power. You change the length of the center lines compared to the steering lines and thus the angle of attacke of the kite. Since I do live in germany kiting together might be difficult :) But once I find my way back to NZ I´ll let you know :)

  • @Alexomator
    @Alexomator5 ай бұрын

    @@lamyala9409 Awarau Bay seemed to be quite shallow in parts, but I´ve only been ther eonce and it super extremly strong on that day. But if you check google maps you will see a very shallow area towards the south. You might find shallow areas near sandy areas that dont face the open sea, like east of greenhills or a bit south of clifton. Another option might be the freedom camping site east of slope point just like the bay at Waikawa or Fortrose, maybe even Waituna Lagoon. Wind directions is something you have to look on a daily basis. Try to get in contact with outer locals though Woo or Surfr.app :)

  • @Alexomator
    @Alexomator6 ай бұрын

    Nice, loving it. Thinking about extending towards an 8m too. No, it´s more of a rarity and I´m lucky to have two of it. It´s a 2020 Liquid Force Absolute. Absolute banger of a board. Stiff in the middle and very flexible in the tips. The very best is the construction. The material is thined towards a edge which is covered by the rail material. So even if you get damages on the edge it does not continue into the top and bottom surfaces, like you will find in boards of other producers. Haven´t found anything compareable yet, but I´m looking.

    Congratulations, enjoy your time. During my three months journey I was out in all conditions from 4 to 50 knots. I took my 7, 9, 12 and 15 with me. A short Twintip and a 1200mm² foil. I´ve used my 3/2 and hooded 5/4 wetsuit. The conditions very from place to place. So where are you going? For the north Island I would say 3/2 is perfectly fine, even a shorty for the hot summer days would be sufficient. Wind always depends but if you want to be on the water often, then take a lot of kites. South island is a bit more tricky, even in the early summer Dunedin, Invercargill and the big lakes were cold as f**k. Abel tasman on the other hand was beautiful, sunny and warm.
