    There is a big trick, after you installed it, it charges very very slow only 100 miles in 12 hours of charge, After spending hours with GM EV concierge, found out these GM Ultimum chargers are preset for the 220 outlet charging speed unless you increase the flow and AMP on the Ultium app which is On Star call registration required. It's finally back to normal. I finally understand that they can not set the charging flow to the fastest level because in case you are using the 220 outlet it can cause damage.

    Great video, I have a question. Is there a seal on the headlights that I can put extra sealer on? The reason I ask is my tail light assembly has about an inch of water in it. All warranty claims are denied because "Water intrusion is an act of nature and not a covered item" according to the dealership. I am in Florida and we have torrential rains almost daily from June to November, and I don't want the tail light replacement to be a monthly expense. Thank you in advance 😊

    Nice job, I was not going to try to resale my old emblems. I used a box cutter with a new razor blade and slid an old credit card between the emblem and the grill and squeezed the razor blade in between them and cut the clips off. The credit card was an extra step to help from not damaging the grill with the blade. Hope this helps

    Video is very much appreciated. IMO. As said in the video….the product is good EXCEPT FOR THE switch. It’s too small, too hard to see, too hard to reach and made of very fragile plastic barely held in place. Upon making final wire connections ( hard wired) the switch broke off. Poor design and placement.

    The GM service bulletin it says (at the bottom of the page) that no parts are required for this repair. How can they say that? Not as far as the steering is concerned, yeah I get that but it won't fix the problem without replacing the thermostat and the sensor (best to replace both while the top end is ripped off it) David, did they replace both in your case?

    I bought a used 2017 just 10 days ago and "BAM" what the heck are you kidding me !!! I just got the message on the dash. I knew it was possible but really - I hope this car doesn't turn into a huge lemon. I had to pull teeth from the wife in order to get this car as she wanted to buy a newer but cheaper car other than the Cadillac. Now she is freaking out on me. For someone who has gone through cancer - I really don't need this stress in my life. I only got 10 days to enjoy this car - did the dealership know about this and cleared the codes just before I bought it? That's what I wanna know. Very disappointing to say the least. I did pay for an extended warranty but have not confirmed this is covered. The warranty cost me $3500 CA so it better be. . . Things like this - is why people go postal - I can't blame them. To know they screwed me is the worst, the car is in great shape with only 74,000 Kms I feel like I was shafted.

    Update: I did what a few people had said to try - disconnected the NEG battery terminal for a min or so. It does work, it will buy me some time, at least my electric fan isn't going to burn out from racing and my temp gauge is now working once again. It will take two weeks for the parts to come in. I'm sure I'll have to do this a few more times. We shall see.

    The hitch install involves the total replacement of the Lyriq's original bumper that is under the plastic. I ask for the original bumper to be retained for me, and was impressed with its lightness. The new bumper is steel and very heavy. I speculate about two things: First, how the rest of the Lyriq must be built with light materials, which is a comment on how heavy the battery must be as the car is so heavy, and the likely performance of the new and old bumpers when rear ended.

  • @rgmichel
    @rgmichelАй бұрын

    I had mine installed. I will probably post pictures eventually on the Cadillac Forums web site. I have not dismounted the removable part yet, but I have one observation. When I first looked at it, I could not find the chain rings. I called the manufacturer, and they sent an outline drawing that showed the rings, and then it was clear that they were so deep up underneath the bumper that they are impossible to find unless you know they are there. I have yet to hook up my boat. Might have to make a bigger hole to reach the chains in there. No question, this hitch does not despoil the Lyriq rear end.

One thing that would be nice to add is how to install the wiring connections for the tow lights if you don't have harness that comes ready to plug in to. Probably means splicing in.

    To everyone. . . I'm not sure what the laws are in your state or province, but it may vary as to whether the "carrier box" must have working brake and signal lights. It would be best to contact your local law enforcement office and inquire before you take the road trip. I live in Ontario Canada and they are sticky here on regulations. Therefore, depending on where you travel this might or might not be okay. If you could change the angle of the hitch, you should have better visibility as a driver (plus the camera) and the person behind you - to see all of your lights. I know this requires a modification to the hitch itself, but from the side view (7:37 mark ) on your video, it looks possible to change the angle and re-weld it. You would still have lots of ground clearance. Plus if it was also on a 90 degree, it would be easier to modify the rack for bicycles too. (just a thought)

    So, does the hitch software on the Lyriq, the camera views and so on, work just as well with the torklift as with the GM authorized part? I understand the cams look at the hitch so you can see what you are doing while backing up and so on. Was that satisfactory after you did the installation and did some towing??

  • @DavidWaltermyer

    Great question! It does! Supercruise gives a warning about a trailer being installed when I have my hitch mounted box back there, and won't do auto-lane changes, but works great otherwise. Check out my cargo box video for more info on the subject. I cover software, camera views, visibility, etc.

  • @rgmichel
    @rgmichel2 ай бұрын

    @@DavidWaltermyer I read, in some GM literature I believe, that the software does not do auto-lane changes when there is a trailer attached, so it sounds like the hitch does not affect the designed full functionality of the software. That is good news, so I can proceed with the install. The box containing the hitch arrived at my house today, and I have an installer to do the work. Thanks for your help with this!

    Your vids on how to do stuff on your XT5 are the absolute best. You've inspired me to try this on my own XT5 as well--I've always enjoyed and wanted to this kind of thing--and now that i'm kind of housebound i have some time to do it. My problem is that now i am trying to replace the rear bumper fascia appliques(the 2 chrome strips set into the thing) and there are no videos by anyone on removing the rear bumper cover, nor access to instruction manuals or decent instructions about it. I'm kind of slowly groping my way along but it's hard to see what lies ahead. Can you give me any suggestions? Or better yet, do a video of your own of that on your own XT5! Thanks............................

  • @DavidWaltermyer
    @DavidWaltermyer2 ай бұрын

    Thank you! I haven't had a need to remove it so far. That being said I can provide some clues. Generally on GM vehicles the rear cover will be similar to the front. Pull off the wheel arches, there should be a single bolt behind the wheel liner, and most of the rest will be clips. If you look at my XT5 tail light video that should help get you started.. Also if you look at my LYRIQ hitch video that might provide some general guidelines as GM tends to follow the same design for attaching these covers. Good luck!

    This is a common problem with the GM 3.6 V6 at 50-60k. The dealer will replace if still under powertrain warranty; if not expect $1,200 -$1,500 bill. Dealers have a high overhead and charge a lot of money for repairs. Most professional garages (I'm not talking about the corner gas station) can fix for little more than half the cost. But it is a pain in the rear to replace, about 3-5 hours work depending on how familiar the mechanic is with the repair. I'd talk to your independent shop and politely ask them if they have experience with GM 3.6 V6 with the P0128 code. My mechanic just rolled his eyes and said "You've got to be kidding me. At least one a month."
