Another way to get a grip on the bolt is to use the jam nut method (2 nuts screwed onto the bolt so that one can be gripped and turned to get leverage and turn the part that’s in the wood. A friend told me about this%

Can I suggest a hack? I have an Ikea bed where the treads went on. I used the threadbare top of the bolt to bring the bolt out 6mm and then put it back in the bed. It worked like a dream until I could find the proper hanger bolt for Ikea use. I would never have thought of doing that without this video. Thank you.

Hello, I want to use single piping and ply grip along the inside back carved frame of a fluted antique tub chair. Will that work, or can you only use it on outside backs and sides?

I just learned that its best to use 2 Hex Nuts, screw them on to just past the top of the bolt. Tighten them, and then use the inside nut to remove the Hanger Bold by turning counter clockwise. To put the bolt into the wood, use the outer most nut and screw it in normally.

Thank you SO MUCH! I just purchased 8 legs which appeared to have short hanger bolts. All that was necessary was your unscrewing procedure and they now reach the metal hardware on the other side of the wood plank :)
