TJ Flying Adventures

TJ Flying Adventures

Hi my name is TJ and this is my KZread channel. I’m a US commercial pilot (with instrument rating).

I am NOT a flight instructor(yet - maybe someday) ... But I love sharing the joy of general aviation flight from my Cirrus. So this channel has a few distinct playlists as follows:

1. Scenic Flying Destinations: If you just want to see some cool views from the cockpit, this playlist is for you
2. Weather Flying Videos: If you want to see real cockpit action while in IMC weather conditions, check out this playlist.
3. Pilot Experience Videos: This playlist is a collection of cool stuff I did or learned in the cockpit.
4. Aviation Bucket List: This playlist chronicles some of the flights on my personal aviation bucket list.

    Incredible. That was awesome. I think I would have gone. Missed on that last attempt also. Do you have FIKI ? what was the outside air temperature? Were you concerned about the risk of icing?

    I came in from the NE and got a 5 point right base 24, changed to 30 and thought 30 was a taxiway on the Jepp plate (paper). It was a runway of course but boy it looked sketchy. Parked in the grass and had an awesome day.

    How you control camera installed outside of the plane? When I have some nice view to record suddenly camera (gopro11) turn off...

  • @TJFlyingAdventures

    The outside camera is GoPro Max, which is a 360 camera that u can control from an app on your phone

  • @bestb51
    @bestb51Ай бұрын

    @@TJFlyingAdventures OK, before you take off you turn on camera, I need to fly 50min to the place that I want to record. Does the camera is still on?

  • @TJFlyingAdventures
    @TJFlyingAdventuresАй бұрын

    @@bestb51 The battery will likely not last that long. What I do in that situation, is start the camera on the ground. After I am established in cruise (~ 15 mins into the flight), then I use the GoPro Quik app to power off the wingcam and use the same app to turn it back on near landing. This seems to work ~90% of the time. Sometimes you might have to restart the app a couple of times to make the bluetooth/wifi connection work. Good luck!

    I like that glass panel cockpit. That's the b0mb. Still, I'd like to have a few mechanical traditional instruments as backup always on display that will keep working if you lose all power. Altitude, a compass, maybe an artificial horizon, coord turn indicator, air speed.

    Nice job, TJ! Now that FlySto has support for AFS logs, I have started using it. Your video pointed a couple of things that I hadn't yet seen so it was quite helpful! I don't think FlySto is picking up on the more advanced maneuvers like Lazy 8's and Chandelles but hopefully that should happen soon. I found that CloudAhoy did a pretty good job of that but unlike FlySto (which allows me to upload the AFS file natively), CloudAhoy required that I put it into a specific CSV format (which wasn't too complicated but it takes about 10-15 min per flight). Of course, it helps that FlySto is free so far. I had issues uploading my video to FlySto. I'll ping you separately.

    The concept of evading weather using non-realtime radar data (maybe up to 40 minutes old) is what can get pilots killed. It is not unheard of. Please be careful next time my friend, and clear skies 😀
