Casual Gardening and Cooking
Good day! I'm Tomasz Franczyk from Casual Gardening and Cooking!
Gardening and cooking are my passions that I want to share with you. Everything I know about gardening and cooking is self-tought. It took me a lot of time to create my vegetable garden and time spent learning about the best way to grow my vegetables. I want this channel to become a thriving community of people sharing same passions and knowledge.
Where are vegetables and food there is always some cooking involved! I want to share with you some Polish traditional recopies, family secrets and some traditional British recopies as well.

How to make cheap raised beds for a greenhouse - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y66IucWJcbeflrw.html
I had one here in Australia in a cold temperate area and seriously the poly panels didnt last any more than 5 years. After then they were useless. They all disintegrated because of the UV.
Mine have a protective coating against UV so I'm hoping they will last.
It's looking fantastic in there, Tomasz! 😃 Looking forward to the recipes! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you kindly 😄👍

@@CasualGardeningandCooking Thank you as well ☺️.
Great video, thanks for your help. subscribed and looking forward to watching more!
Glad you liked my video and welcome aboard 👍 thank you
Very interesting indeed, Tomasz! 😃 Looking forward to see how it goes! My parents used to plant potatoes on the farm and yes, there's a big difference between "normal" potatoes and seeds. The seeds are planted in a much more controlled environment and they only allow the best plants to grow. Then they select between what they harvested and the process begins again... Really interesting process! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hopefully this will do the trick, invested in special big potatoes pots. So hopefully the harvest will be reasonable 👍 all the best mate
@CasualGardeningandCooking Sweet! Looking forward to see how you're going to plant them! 😃
Hey fellow gardener! You have a lovely bed setup, I would love to hear more about how you have designed them and the space around them.

Preparing Raised Beds for Spring Planting in 3 Easy Steps - kzread.info/dash/bejne/haas0Zh_e6Tbnpc.html
Really fantastic work, Tomasz! Your plants are definitely going to love it! 😃 The only issue with this technique is for carrots... They need deep soft soil. But for everything else you're good to go! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The soil I used to initially fill my beds was nice soft and fluffy and after 3 seasons still is the same. Had good carrot harvests so far but what I struggled with was root parsley. Hopefully they will grow better this year. By beds are about 25cm deep and they have no bottoms.
@@CasualGardeningandCooking Oh, much better than! Great to know! 😃
Nice to see how you layer the beds with the different ingredients. If you are using the non dig method, would you scrape off the top layer next year before adding the different layers?
No I don't remove anything, just any leftovers from dead plants. And just make it tidy.
Really nice, Tomasz! Thanks for all the tips! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you for watching 👍
A very well organized garden that makes for easy maintenance. Well done, Tomasz!
Exactly, I like things organised, shame my workshop isn't that well looked after 😅

Looks delicious indeed, Tomasz! 😃 I need to try something like that some day! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Definitely worth it mate 👍
sorry, maybe i didn't listen correctly but how long did it take for your seedlings to develop 2 leaves? and one further question related to watering the plants from underneath: is there a way to f this one up? like, do you do you measure the amount of water beforehand or is it fine to have some access water left at the end, that the soil just couldn't soak up?
The seeds germinated within 10 day, then the true leaves appeared about 3 weeks from sowing. All depends on the veg type and conditions. You can f the watering. As you can have too much water or too little. I use trays to start my seedlings, and I always fill the bottom holding tray to almost full of water and let the soil soak in the water for about 20-30 minutes. Then all the water that is in the bottom tray is removed. You don't want standing water as that could lead to diseases development or just rot. The soil on the top needs to moist not wet. Also not bone dry. Depending on conditions, type and size of plant I usually water them every 2-3 days.
@@CasualGardeningandCooking thank you so much! appreciate it
