A majority of the videos here are from travel aboard Amtrak trains, with most of those being aboard the Empire Builder. Other videos are from the Izaak Walton Inn and Glacier Nat'l Park in Montana, Devil's Lake State Park near Baraboo WI including the Parfreys Glen natural area, and a small portion of the Ice Age Trail (IAT).

What I like about this video is you documented each car. This may have been posted in 2009, but isn't it still fresh in your mind? Loved it. Thanks!

They are ABS Signals, which are not controlled by dispatcher. CTC systems are controlled by dispatchers in Fort Worth. The dispatcher on the Devils Lake Sub at the time of recording only controlled the subdivision over radio via track warrant control.

I've travelling on Amtrak train even before Amtrak merged private Railroad Company for over 52 years. I hopped once or twice a year acrossing in any part of USA as I love it and no matter if the train is delays or on time because trains travel is a blast with a wonderful socially different people from all over the places and a beauty by looking views passing different areas too. And I'm using mostly sleeper car is the best! For now covid and I will resume traveling again. For you guys taking a short trip to see if like trains before taking a long trip. Enjoy!

I think that grain train was empty, since a loaded train would need helper engines on the rear for the climb up Marias Pass.

I rode Amtrak from Savramento, CA through the eastern range of the Cascade Mts., though the Salt Lake area across the Rockies into the flatlands of western Nebraska on into Chicago. I only left the vista car to eat and to use the can. It was every bit as beautiful as what I just watched. It was night time when we got into Nebraska but by then I was napping, waking only when we sided to let another train pass heading west. It was the best trip I've ever taken. I ended up in Florida and even that part of the trip was still a great adventure for me. Any time you can ride the train instead of flying, DO IT !!!

Here is a very good and true cliche for you. It is better that the train is running late rather than it doesn't arrive at all. So. Better late than never.

The dilapidated building you called a mill was actually the Bad Order Car shop where light repairs were done. Heavy repairs were done down in the Minot yard across from the station. The platforms that you were looking at were the LCL (Less than Car Load) platforms. The PR RR specialized in this form of freight because there were numerous businesses in Ward County ND in need of such transport.
