Hi.. wondering if you are able to help? We have a Hik-Vision NVR and 4 cameras. All 4 feeds coming in. However as more people have started using the Live View we are seeing issues that not all users are able to see the feeds. Initially we had about 4 users, but now we have 6 or 7 we are seeing issues. With it being an IP camera yes it uses power over ethernet (poe)
Thank you for the video. May I ask, if you use a second drive what format should the drive be in? Ntfs, fat32 or what? Also, if I clone an existing drive in the NVR to a larger drive. Will it just accept it seamlessly?

CAUTION: Firmware updates MUST be completed sequentially one after another, not skipping any versions out. This instruction is given directly by Hikvision technical support themselves and the reason is because skipping firmware versions can break core functionality. Upload each one in turn - even if there are 10 of them, don't miss any!
This is a fair point to make, especially when updating from a much older version to a new version
There were no obstructions behind the brick wall, that you can extend the cables straight to the attic? What is holding the wall to the building?
No obstructions, the only time you’ll get an obstruction is if the top of the cavity is capped over, which is rare. The wall is held to the building by a piece of string I believe Kind regards Barry

Does this support any other browser besides IE which went away?
It is a bit hit and miss depending on device firmware. We still use MS Edge, but we add the NVR url into internet explorer mode, you can do this by going onto Edge, clicking on the 3 dots in the top right, click on settings, click on default browser from the left menu, then “allow sites to be reloaded in IE mode” make sure is set to “allow”, then below that click “add”, then type in your ip and hit “add” Then type in the ip address into the internet search bar and it will load into IE mode

Feedback: you go through things quickly.Kindly slow down. i installed acusense cameras and with 8 ch 7600 Series NVR. everthing is fine. But i dont get notifications on my phone. Also.I want to see alerts on my phone. My cameras has got lights, alarm and speaker. i dont want neighbours listening alarm and sound. which VCA mode i should be using By camera or NVR.. Apologies for hassle.
I would setup intrusion detection on the NVR, and set detection method to human/vehicle. Make sure intrusion is enabled with the tick box, draw your zone, go to linkage action and make sure “notify surveillance centre” is ticked, this will send notifications to hikconnect. You can set the speaker and strobe lights on independent schedules. You’ll find this under basic event, go to light output settings and audible speaker output settings.

hello again hik guru......i have a new annoying problem if you could help..?? ive unplugged everything and moved my hardrive box and screen to the loft and when i turn it back on my phone is now not finding it i thought i might have to rescan the QR code but didnt want to do it yet incase there is a simple thing im missing..?? phone is just saying "device offline please check its network connection".....grrrrrr
Hey! Have you got an internet connection to the loft, either via a hard wired cable to your dvr/NVR or using powerline adapters?
@@HikVisionGuru yes mate....its wired exactly the same as it was before i moved it to the loft.....hardwired into the modem downstairs
@@HikVisionGuru its actually working as it did before in the loft with the cameras up on the main screen......but my phone is saying it cant connect and is offline.....its been like it for a few days now
@jmason5013 using the screen go to system, network settings, send a picture of that screen to me at [email protected] Also then go to advanced network settings, platform access, make sure it is enabled and check the status if it says offline/online

Thanks great video. Very helpful. As I'm IT guy I get calls about absolutely everything. In-laws have had visitors and they have completely messed up and apparently no video signal is showing at all. I'll be using the information in this video to go fix that tomorrow! So thanks. But just wondering if there maybe something they have done to the device that may have caused a no video scenario that you haven't covered in this video? And if so what could cause such a situation?
Nice to hear! Do you know if it’s showing no video or no link? Just trying to establish if it’s an IP or analogue system. On ip systems it shows no link, on analogue shows no video. If it’s IP I’d make sure all cameras cables are plugged into the NVR correctly, I’d then go into the camera settings on the NVR and make sure they’re set to plug and play (unless the cameras have all been setup in static mode). Also make sure you’ve got flashing lights on the poe ports. If it’s an analogue system, I’d make sure the power cable is definitely plugged into the cameras and is operational.

Have you managed to remove the cameras cover and look for a small black reset button and try the reset button reset process. If there is no button you will need to extract a xml file and send to HikVision for reset

Hi - your videos have great content and extremely helpful. Can you please do a tutorial on the DS-7608NI-M2/8P model. I am a little stuck when it comes to configuring - i.e. I have two 4tb hard drives in the NVR, however, only one is displayed. Also, the verification code is not showing when I am following network set up. Your expert assistance would be most welcome. Thanks
If there is only 1 hard drive showing on the list of available hard drives, make sure the second one is properly connected. If not it could be faulty drive. As for verification code, it will be on the platform access screen, it maybe hidden with asterisks’, in which case you’ll need to click on the eye symbol to reveal it. I have a 2 story building, would this work? I live in USA and worried if I might encounter a fireblock. Also the crawl space is very bad at my place, barely could access the corners of the building from the attic. Would appreciate it if you have any advice.
There’s only one way to find out I’m afraid, try it and see. We do see fire blocks or cavity capping at the top occasionally but not all too often, however that’s in the uk, as for the USA I’m not sure how common it is. Sometimes it can be useful to go up to roof tile height, remove a bottom tile and expose the cavity that way and you’ll have a much clearer view. From there you can feed your rods straight into the loft also.

Yes you will need some form of internet connection, Hik do a range of NVRs with a SIM card slot for built in 4g connection if you don’t want a separate router

Hey! Are you referring to the red square that is in each corner of each camera? If so that’s a recording status symbol meaning that camera is recording. If it’s something else you’re referring to, please send me a picture @ [email protected]

Have you virtual hosted into the specific camera and gone into image settings on there, as opposed to on the NVR?

@@TheStar1818 go onto the NVRs web config page, go to network, advanced, other, then tick enable virtual host, hit save/apply. Then go to system, camera management, then they’ll be a blue link next to each camera

OK Mr guru im back and have some questions about a couple of problems im having So i linked up one camera to the nvr indoors and then added the app to my phone and got the whole thing working nicely with sound and 2 way audio once that was all working nicely i then bolted it all to the outside of the house and added a further 2 cameras to ports 2 and 3 all 3 cameras work on the nvr and are connected to my phone BUT the first camera i set up indoors works fine with audio of whats going on outside coming to my phone.........but the 2 cameras i added on ports 2 and 3 dont have any audio to the phone i can get 2 way audio on all 3 cameras but i cant hear whats going on outside on cameras 2 and 3 and funnily enough they also dont seem to want to put the spot light on full brightness either ive tried turning audio on at the nvr and desktop screen and ive also turned on the audio button on my phone but no joy would adding those 2 further cameras after getting the first one running be anything to do with it as it is those 2 further cameras that are playing up..??
Under the recording parameters is the video type set to “video & audio” and not just “video”?

When you clicked back into nvr web page and selected event and set the intrusion detection zone you then clicked on notification but why didnt you click on the light and audio links for that camera? I know you logged into that camera on the previous web page and selected the warning and flashing light but why didnt you tell it to flash and give audio warning in the nvr web browser page? Also i dont seem to be able to set the brightness or volume of the message. Every time i lower each one from 100 to say 50 and click save and go to another camera and then come back its set at a 100 again. What am i doing wrong?
At the time of recording the video the firmware was different, and it was advisable to set the strobe speaker via the cameras own interface as opposed to the NVRs. Currently, it is now advisable to set it up via the NVR menus and not directly on the camera. When you change the volume, hit save, does it say “save succeeded”? If it does and you’ve still got the issue I would then go to the maintenance menu and reboot the camera, then go back to the volume screen and see if it’s applied. Also make sure all camera and NVR firmwares are on latest version
Yes it does say saved and then I try to change the next camera volume and save and then the next. When I revisit each camera they all still say 100%. I will try rebooting the cameras like you say. Thank you so much for your time. Its horrible sat here trying to work out what I am doing wrong searching through Google for an answer
Thank you for another great video. Just a quick question off topic but i see you used an i series nvr but when you logged into it you didnt have any problems going to live view. When i go to live view on mine using microsoft edge i have to use an internet explorer plugin and then have to click on my first camera and then change it from main stream to sub stream and then click on start live view otherwise i get live view failed or i cant see the camera picture when trying to set up intrusion areas or lines under events. I thought Hikvision would of sorted this but i have just downloaded the latest firmware and its a lot better but i still need to use the internet explorer plug in. Have you found a way around this?
Still using edge in internet explorer mode I’m afraid. Alternatively use hiks proper ivms4200 software. On the web interface configuration page, go to local, and tick “auto start live view”, I find this helps.
Is cat5e 'good enough' (external? Ive been exclusively usihg cat6 but im now thinking im wasting money.
Cat5e is plenty good enough for all poe cameras, but cat6 is future proofing long into the future. I’d potentially give customers the option and cost it extra for future proofed wiring, especially when rewiring in future isn’t feasible

They are supplied with every brand new HikVision dvr/nvr. They are a 4pin to sata power cable. The blue cable is a standard sata data cable. We do sell them if you need any.
Hi sorry. Me again. Hes saying you can only set up for human or motion on 4 cameras is this correct. Or is it because the 2 he is now saying he can't add to motion detection are the 2 non hearing cameras. He's saying he can't add the 2 non earing cant be added to motion detection even thought they worked before .
Hi Debbie! You’d have to remind me of your dvr/nvrs model number. If it’s a basic dvr chances are it only supports 2 channels worth of detection at any given time as there isn’t enough processing resource.
Hi. We have had 2 new cameras set up which are listening cameras along with 2 old ones . We have a total of 6 camera and guy is telling us he can't set up motion detection on 2 non listening cameras now . Is it something to do with the cable or old cameras not compatible with new cameras .please help spent a fortune and its not right.

Not 100% sure what screen you mean? Have you plugged a screen into your NVR via hdmi or vga cable?
I’ve always been told to never drill into the mortar and brick instead.

If you’re in Nigeria you are best off going to a metal works there as it will be very expensive sending one over from here. Youll want to draw a diagram and they’ll make a bespoke bracket

You would need an aftermarket extension arm as Hik don’t do an official extended arm other than the ones shown in the video
