It's a country literally so brainwashed on unrealistic beauty standards they don't think twice about anything else. I know so little about Indian culture. All I do know is a couple of typical surface things and I'm aware that India while a unified country technically, has an INSANE amount of diversity and variation to different geographical regions and groups, more so than many other large nations. I laughed due to the absurdity of how just inserting "surface well known thing related to culture" here is in the first few lyrics of the song. It's funny because it is that blatantly absurd and racist, like singing about Sushi, Anime and not pronouncing the letter L or similar would be to talk about Japanese persons. I'm of the mind that I don't find this offensive if it's thrown back at me from my American heritage, please talk about D.C. Hamburgers, apple pie, flag, guns and statue of liberty randomly in a song to simplify it. But I know many others do not share that sentiment. I can absolutely understand only a minute in how this song is incredibly offensive to many people and it sucks that it's hurt so many and that many people just aren't aware that it is offensive, especially because South Korea seems very detatched from other surrounding Asian cultures. I also don't know how much animosity might be between the two and how they see each other, so while I wouldn't find over simplification, loving mockery or even critical social commentary in a song about something not offensive to me, even if it's to the stereotypes and downfalls from my own culture, I completely empathize with others who do not feel like I do and recognize that I'm odd with my interpretation of it. The only thing I disagree with is that many people might find this highly malicious or obvious, but I tend to assume ignorance over malice. I think if there is an incredibly disconnect between SK having been more closed off to other cultures and overly homogenous, it's not surprising that they developed plenty of stereotypes and hypocrisies that the world can now see in them. Regardless of that, it's still very important to inform others why it's offensive and that it's not okay, because even if I would find it funny if it was about American stereotypes in the same blatant way, I also don't know the complexity behind it all. This was educational to understand it, so thank you.

I have two theories: 1) The reason why kpop idols keep getting canceled for the same shit, and are seemingly unaware, is because it gets brushed over/covered up really fast in the industry. 2) Or all our "faves" are actually just really racist, and are only apologizing so they can keep profiting off of international fans.

erm i don't get why the lyrics / singing / MV may be offensive??? 'yoga' and 'curry' are just neutral words. 'fire' means the curry is spicy (which most are anyway, unless you are talking about level-0 curry? lol). 'namaste' is to imply "No, thank you" politely. otherwise it's rude to curtly say NO." 'shanti' is a common Indian female name, much like Jane/Mary/etc, no?? i mean, you can interpret it this way in order to not feel so offended. overall IMO the entire song is not mocking because there are no negative words or connotations, unless people interpret it in their own way to feel offended. JoBin even took into account the right-hand eating rule and Hindus' respect for cows when writing the lyrics!

@@H1J1R1LV3R i get where you are coming from, but norazo did not do/sing offensive things about indians to the equivalent of abovementioned "ching chong bing bong" and 'eye-stretching' in this song. (maybe you can enlighten me with examples?) they presented this song in a very respectful way towards said culture. to me, this song was a way for norazo to present to korean listeners a glimpse of indian culture within the span of a 3-4min song, using curry as the spotlight. to end off, i hope desi and Indian people (as abovementioned) who are offended by this 1 norazo song can research more about this band group (if they haven't already) and realize that a lot of their songs are comical and over-the-top (because this is their musical style, to differentiate themselves from other music groups). they have nothing against whichever culture/country, so hope people can understand this point.
