It wasnt a mistake at all.. that was all part of the trick. Dont any of you get it? The whole thing at the start is just his misdirection and so he can find out what card it is and then after he "fails" and everyone is distracted for a second then he can look through the deck and switch the cards infront of their eyes with very quick slight of hand. If you slow the video down you can see how quickly he does this and its incredible. There is no failed trick here at all and Im not sure why people think that.

That's why I stop doing elaborate card tricks,, it's too much of a build up to have a chance at failure in the end. I stick with the short and visual instant magic style of card tricks... but I have used David's recovery here many times. I even pretend to do mistakes in my routines with constant surprise recoveries so that when I make a genuine mistake they won't know the difference! 😉

When you control the editing of your TV specials, you wouldn’t ever make a mistake either. He’s a lucky semi-pro magician, who can barely handle more than one angle in a card trick…. Only thing perfect about him prior to this trick was how he tricked people into thinking non-magic is magic. Standing on a pole, sitting in a box, laying in some ice etc…. At best those are feats.

I think she was supposed to be in on the trick. He hands her (the woman "thinking" of a card) a small thing of cards at 1:10 for no reason and never mentions it again during the trick.

This doesn't expose him at all lol. If anything, it reinforces him being more legit than fake. A legit magician is going to screw up a trick occasionally.
