    What i noticed is a guy who had a shotgun was reloading and got snuck up on and upon seeing the enemy instead of finishing the reaload he pulled out his pistol crouched and slowly started to fall back. And they peek corners sometimes

    Haha I know the feeling all to well! There is actually a valid explanation why that happens though, and it has to do with game difficulty! Friendly AI in this game actually DON'T scale with whatever difficulty you select. This means if you're selecting a difficulty within the harder ranges your AI teammates are actually at a major disadvantage. Selecting the easier difficulties will have the opposite effect for your teammates obviously. One more thing to mention: Betraying your allies by killing at least two of them will cause them to turn hostile to you, it is only then that they actually scale their stats to the difficulty you selected.

    @@kepeep5066 thats why I always summon a smartgun squad. That way the bullets they fire find targets by themselves (only when I play on Very Hard difficulty, on Extreme and Rage mode all of the AI teams get squashed within 30 seconds)

    @@ratsmans5644 In my experience using the TMOD sandbox mode, it seems they fall within 'Hard' and 'Very Hard' difficulties. I personally think they scale more towards 'Very Hard' though, because I have simulated large scale battles with them and their Horizon counter-parts with equal numbers and soldier type distributions, and it usually ends with one side barely winning with only a few left, making it a very close battle every time.

    I am a sucker for good AI in videogames, ESPECIALLY when I can watch them in a sandbox-like setting just doing their thing. I am that much of a goober that probably 120h of my 200 hours in Trepang are just arranging NPC fights. Their AI is just fantastic: the way they move, the way they panic about when being overwhelmed, the way they operate when at the advantage, the fact there is a difference in the Black-Ops behaviour in comparison to normal guards and the voice acting: oh my gawd is it good.

  • @4T3hM4kr0n

    oh yeah, the spec ops guys if they lose sight of you and have taken casualties will sometimes regroup and focus their attention at the last spot they saw you (they group together and you'll see a line of 4-5 laser sights on their weapons pointing towards your last known location, it's pretty cool)

    That flank at 0:46 ...Goddamn. No game will ever surpass FEAR's AI, but they got pretty close. If only the AI could make callouts to your position like they did in FEAR.

  • @kepeep5066

    I think part of the main problem with this game's ai, is that the npcs simply think too much for their own good. For example, we see a lot of the ai spinning themselves around a lot getting confused, and they get themselves trapped out in the middle of cross-fire, or run straight back into a grenade after just running out of one. My guess is that npcs dont have a priority system on which actions have more importance than the other. If they did, they would be able to determine things like: "running from a grenade is more important than trying to flank an enemy"

  • @stephen6992
    @stephen69928 ай бұрын

    I think it does surpass fear ai don't get me wrong the ai in fear was really good but trepang2 feels like the actually take advantage of situations when you fall back they'll mostly press forward and comments on you falling back, they will also flank you alot and juggernauts will move to your last position. Even details like them still holding down suppressing fire on a position you were at. Also if you look up they do have a tone of voice lines as well that comment on what your doing. Also the reason I don't think the comment on what cover you have is due to the game being based more on movement and faster gameplay than fears.

  • @grimreminder5038

    I definitely think Trepang2's AI surpasses Fear's. For example in the prologue mission, I was holding a doorway just to hear "I GOT YOU NOW, BITCH", turned around to see this MF had his shotgun aimed point blank to the back of my damn skull yet he didn't fire, instead he turned around and ran back in through the door where his team was. I was so dumbfounded by the audacity of him not taking the shot that I just sat there impressed. No bot's ever managed to do that before

  • @urosmamic4172
    @urosmamic41728 ай бұрын

    @@kepeep5066also reason for some random turning around and stuff was told by the devs when ai doesn't see the player for a short amount of time they will make sure to keep an eye out for all the blind spot cuz you know you can go invisible and just take them out and also I play the game mostly on extreme difficulty and let me tell you that only times they fuck up is when I throw a grenade and they are at a very crampt place and not have enough time to run away most of the time they try to play aggressive as possible with no chill And when it comes to spec ops units holy fucking shit man they are unpredictable with what they can do One moment we are shooting each other then one of them flanks me and will I'm shooting him other one rushes my ass and tries to karate chop my ass and then when that fails they start throwing nades and flares to flush me out of cover( what I noticed with flares is they can actually act like a smoke grenade of some sort cuz of some maps and how effects work and what I noticed is they used them A LOT) but yea I like them mostly because they give a huge intense firefights cuz of how much unpredictable there actions can be and just shows how they are THE unit that's trained to deal with inhuman stuff Also the Elite versions of guards are almost same but have better armor and can have grenade launchers and even the minigun
