That's great, however as a bookkeeper working in an accounting firm,I'd say get the opinion of an accountant on your business structure before starting. Also gwt a bookkeeper who is VERY familiar with the SCHADS award as it is the biggest and hardest award to interpret. And you are correct an ABN is free if you register yourself.

I know I'm a little late to your comment, but I agree completely with your comment. Experience should mean observation under colleagues and peers - not just the amount of time you have spent in the industry. It took me 25 years of being in this industry before I felt I had the industry knowledge to become a sole trader. There has been a lean towards hiring people with computer skills as opposed to empathy and understanding in this industry, because the admin is so full on, that the industry standard has slipped hugely in my years unfortunately.

ABN is the easy part... For any business it should be sorted in 15-60min. Just get a general one and then use it for anything not employed. NDIS is complicated though

So what real quaifcations do you really have ? The fact that you call it an industry is a interesting choice of words, sector would be less or just servics is a lot less dehumanizing. Industry's are business centered , numbers and money. Words are important. I highly advise you read this , this will effect your INDUSTRY eventually And any other people thay may want the full address to the Senate findings to forward on to others here it is . www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Autism/autism/Report I worked in human servics ,dip in community service, cert 4 in disablity with over 20 years of experience in disablity on the floor , up to my elblows in other peopels shit and went on to get my div 1 in nursing mainly still working in critical care in the disablity sector only to get a late in life adult diagnosis of ASD1 and modaret support needs for combination type hyperactive/ inatentive type adhd at 41. So i was just plain out shocked that with my years of experience in the feild, quifcations out the wahzoo and disablity in my family i realized nothing i got a peice of paper for actully including my degree had any value and everything i learned ment nothing , it only gave a very 1 size fits all modality to disablity and even though i am Austistic, i did not one unit on women on the spectum in all those years , nothing on their lived experance, only a Neurotipical compleat ablest and bias Neurotipical vage understanding and this was when you had to have quailfcations to work in these industries. Im now a ndis client and in October my 2 year plan is up and ive yet to have any services provided to me with anything more than a ABN number and im shocked as im qualified than the people who say they have the " experience " to suport me . Last disabilty suport worker sent to help with independent daily living and community access, her only experience from befor working in disablity was being a cleaner at a aged care home , not even a carer and she had not even compleated a full poilce check or working with childs check . The agency she worked for basicly introduced themselfs by firstly misapropatation my funding and i voiced that i was not comfortable about that because 1, you waked in and said hi , i just commited fraud and if i get busted , you get audited and have to pay back the ndis, not me . They promised me the world , gave me nothing , charged me for that privlage and still led me on with lies of what they are going to do for me after i had made clear that what they are promising is not client lead care, im not intellectually impaired and i sekf manage my funding so the " mistake " of $3014 in my monthky statment under assissed independent living as not a tea spoon was washed and i spent more time looking after the needs of this said worker than she looked after me and this is not getting paid , if you so blatent about siphoning nids funds because whi do it hurt? The goverment ? No your taking advatage of people with disablities and by stealing off the ndis , i frankly se that as you stealling off me as thats my funding then their so called disabilty suppirt worker promptly stole over $2000 of skating gear off me and asking me to repair their children's rollerskates in me funded time . Big NO NO " disabilty act 2006" . Disability suport agencys and works are not even allowed to actcept a xmas card from a client ( consumer) and this woman wanted me to provide her a service then promptly asked "did i catch the Autisum from my vacces?" I was stuck with this tinfoil beanie for 5 more hrs and i wanted to fire her on the spot. She would nog take me places in the hrs i wanted to book them , booked hrs i woukd not sign off on as IM NOT GOING TO BIG SHOPOING MALLS AT 3 PM ON A FLIPPING FRIDAY, DID YOU NOT READ .... AUSTICS WITH SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDER AND AUDITORY PROCESSING DISORDER WITH ANXITY DISORDER ON MY BLOODY FILE! Year i want to be in a big shopping center to have a meltdown in alle 3 during peak shopping hrs. No i will not book you if you can not provide a client lead plan ... i dgaf what hrs you want to work and if you cant work the hrs i need you to work , get your boss to find a more appropriate worket and you can find clients that you fit their lives life. No one is qualified anymore so we have the quotient of janitors making desisions about our lives and i have never felt so disempowered in me who life because these people are do gooders , they are not actual trained to actully help. Stars forbid you are not intellectually impaired and can advocate for your self, They get their knickers in a knot when you pull them up on breaches of the human rights act, the disablity act and consumer law that they just think they are above. But then you have these paid strangers in your home , drinking your coffee and leaving you to wash the cup while they belive they have every right to know EVERYTHING about your privet life , IE: parts of you life that they are not employed to have an opinion on as its not in my funding for them to give a shit on how i spend my time unless they are going to enrich it , if not fudge off! Ive fired 3 agenceys in 18 months most only ladting 2 months because they wkukd not hook me up with local service and book workers that live up to 2hrs away so they can charge the ndis travel to and from so they can oretend to be my friend only to be left totally unsupported. Then it will take months on end to find for my self a new agencey that walks i with the same lies and processes to defraud the NDIS. Last lot actully put up every hurdle they could for me to indulge in my Autisic special interest that has had me in DEEP depression for 4 months because the power trippers watched a youtub of googled what i do and all of a sudden their flipping experts on something ive done for 45 years and done on a semi professional level yet they want me to go pay to pat other peoples dogs . I dont wint to pat other peoples dogs, i can do that at any animal shelter fir free uf i was inclined... and im not! I have not had any suport since the 18th of feb 2023. I have to be my own disablity worker and frankly im dumping it as im sick to death of low IQ ass wipers treating me likd in 5 , gas lighting me and plain out threatening me to pull services when i point out they are breaking xyz laws. Dosent that just scream RED flag if an agencey wont abide by the disablity ask and when busted they tell you to put up and shut up or YOU WILL HAVE NO ONE . Bit narcissistic id say . Explain to me why as a client ive had to fire 4 diffent agenceies in 2 years because they caused more distress in my life then i had befor getting ndis because the agency's are not even qualified with a certificate 3 in disablity and left me completely unsupported for 2 years with SOOOOOO many autistic meltdowns just dealing with my so called support team. They isolated me from my community and left me hanging to the 11th hr in needing confirmation i booked months ago and threaten the CAT team if i asked to access my funding that was not being touched. In 2 years , i used 15% of my funding with so many broken promises to get my contract only to find out that the people that where supporting me whete not ecen qualified to be cleaners and i found i spwas supporting my support workers and i have a extensive background in nursing and disability over more than 20 years and to find out that we are being msnaged by people that have 0 idea how to work with autism but all they wanted to do was lock me up for asking for access to assisted in daily life funding because i was expressing i was having executive funtioning problems and needed help now . 20 hrs later i get a text asking do i need the local mental health triage to be in contact? If they thought i needing the mental health triage to be involved, i pointed out that they would be texting a corps if getting back 20 hr later but no , i need someone to pick up my shopping as i cant get out of the house due to anxity and i have absoultly no food in the house. NONE . And she got back and said she was not a crisis line. So i fired her ass... that was the last one , the one befor was just syphening money out of my funding for things she did not do on days i did not see her and everyone else have been unqualified crooks on the take thinking they can get away with it as they where expecting someone with a low IQ to the point of one quiting saying she did not have the experience to work with anyone that dosent have an ID or mental health record. My neurological disorder left me being able to advocate for myself and she was threatened that i made her accounable for services that where not being provided. The whole ndis system is a scam that has left me feeling less empowered and unheard in a de humanizing system

Your not working with people that have to be professional, the worker is the professional that has to understand deregulation can be part of peoples disablity, Impulse controll may be part of someones disablity and for a professional to to hug someone in meltdown may result in a ounch in the face and thats not the client's fault, thats the professionals because they did not ask if the can touch a client's body and they anwser would have been " DON'T FKIPOING TOUCH ME, STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS, I NEED DARK , QUIET AND SOLITUDE FOR THE NEXT 48 HRS " but the worker thinks you will be fine with a hug and a cry and back to business in 15 mins. Explain to me why as a client ive had to fire 4 diffent agenceies in 2 years because they caused more distress in my life then i had befor getting ndis because the agency's are not even qualified with a certificate 3 in disablity and left me completely unsupported for 2 years with SOOOOOO many autistic meltdowns just dealing with my so called support team. They isolated me from my community and left me hanging to the 11th hr in needing confirmation i booked months ago and threaten the CAT team if i asked to access my funding that was not being touched. In 2 years , i used 15% of my funding with so many broken promises to get my contract only to find out that the people that where supporting me whete not ecen qualified to be cleaners and i found i spwas supporting my support workers and i have a extensive background in nursing and disability over more than 20 years and to find out that we are being msnaged by people that have 0 idea how to work with autism but all they wanted to do was lock me up for asking for access to assisted in daily life funding because i was expressing i was having executive funtioning problems and needed help now . 20 hrs later i get a text asking do i need the local mental health triage to be in contact? If they thought i needing the mental health triage to be involved, i pointed out that they would be texting a corps if getting back 20 hr later but no , i need someone to pick up my shopping as i cant get out of the house due to anxity and i have absoultly no food in the house. NONE . And she got back and said she was not a crisis line. So i fired her ass... that was the last one , the one befor was just syphening money out of my funding for things she did not do on days i did not see her and everyone else have been unqualified crooks on the take thinking they can get away with it as they where expecting someone with a low IQ to the point of one quiting saying she did not have the experience to work with anyone that dosent have an ID or mental health record. My neurological disorder left me being able to advocate for myself and she was threatened that i made her accounable for services that where not being provided. The whole ndis system is a scam that has left me feeling less empowered and unheard in a de humanizing system
