I make videos for parents and players to guide them through high performance tennis!
Throughout 4 years of working for Tennis Canada I travelled the world with some of Canada’s best athletes, worked close with great minds in tennis, fitness, physiotherapy, and sports science. Currently I am leading high performance program out of one of the best sports club in Canada - Mayfair.
My passion has always been in development because there is no better feeling than helping others. Now I want to impact more people than those directly around me. I want to help people around the world in this long and tough journey called tennis.

Great channel and episode. Thank you
Hi Bogdan, my son is 11 years old, playing tennis since past three years where he is county player now but still not consistent in winning whole tournament. neither in practise. We tried to understand if he dont want to play but it looks like he wants to play and its his passion. We are ready to support him anyway but still he is not understanding or working the way he supposed to be doing. Can you advise how we can be helping him to increase his self efforts?
My sport is a quiet game
So if one is 18yrs old, do you recommend 18 hours practice on the court?
sir i payed my national tournament but i want to knoe that how can i play itf junuiors tournamnets so i can get a chance to came in qualification rounds
Most tennis coaches don't even have a clue other than the very basics. I train teens at the highest level very quickly. Most don't even understand what makes a pro different from a recreational player. No one is more qualified or has more experienced than me. It is only about tennis excellence at the end of the day. Best not to be like everyone else in this world and just tell people what they want to hear and not give them exactly what they are asking for. There is plenty of that. The reason I teach is because others can't from what I have seen in my life. It actually astonishes what I witness most weeks. I am the guy who teaches your high level coach what he has never seen before. Most high level coaches only know more than most but don't know more than a person at my level. I never set out to be this level though it just happened.
I am 15 years old and have been playing tennis regularly since I was 5 years old. I play county league in my age group and and county league with the men. My dream is to become a pro. I play about 10 hours a week. This is also because my father is a coach. Do you think it's too late to become a professional? Or what is your advice so that I can make it? I'm willing to put a lot of work into it.

Hey man. Those tournaments typically choose players based on itf ranking first. If a player doesn’t have an itf ranking then a national ranking will be used to determine who get in. Many players go to places like turkey, Egypt, India, Latin America to play their first itf because there a chance you might get in qualies. But even then you still have to get to main draw to get some points. My suggestion is to play some local national or regional level tournaments to see where you stand and take it from there.

Can I take a break from tennis for one month?
@@thewild_beast45tv18 of course. While you will definitely feel that you’re rusty when you come back, one month is not that big of a break.
I'm a girl and my dream one day is to become a professional tennis player, I have a big passion for it, and I train as much as possible, because I would like to participate to the Us open, Wimbledon or Australian open one day, and I believe in it. I know it's hard but I don't give up. Very informative. Thank you ! Good Job
Thank you Jason!
im 14 (male) and started about 2 and a half years ago living in australia including playing against a wall and competition, i play about 8 hours a week and am definitely getting addicted to tennis i play 6 times a week and i really love the sport my utr is about 3.5-4 and am really serious about progressing but am not sure if im good enough to ever go pro My dream job is playing tennis but im doing amazing in school and definitely have other pathways to take in life but tennis feels like my real calling what do you think?
I’d definitely keep tennis as a competitive hobby and see how far you can go. I wouldn’t put your studies on the line and skip them over tennis. You started playing a bit late and that’s highly unlikely to turn pro based on the numbers I am seeing from you. With that said do your best to be the best in your city first, then region, and then get into nationals. You have plenty smaller goals to keep you motivated in the meantime. I’ve seen come from nowhere to landing huge scholarships in US. So keep it going mate!
@@BogdanGrygorenko Thanks man ill keep it in mind, still figuring out what i want to do in life and who i wanna work as. I asked my coach today about utr and he was really surprised that im only about a 3, said he would rank me a 5-5, just need to play more tournaments. Really loving the game and about the only thing ive ever been really dedicated to. Ill see how it turns out though. Have a good one! Speak brother, ok? Dude, how do I get information about this coaching course? I'm a tennis coach here in Brazil, but I would like to take a course
Hey man I will be releasing it this summer. I’ll update on the channel 🙌🙏
Good insight...in regards to the player retaining information also has to do with the coaching in terms of the approach and how you're communicating information to the student to learn
100% agree. Coaches love to complicate things and sometimes use language not suitable for the person in front of them. Great point.
Hey Bogdan! Great insights! My daughter would prefer to sleep on the tennis courts in our club man, ans it looks like 100 percent her passion and she wants to get number one one day, but at the same time she has problemes to follow some of the tips that i give her when playing tennis! Like for instance the most difficult part ist, footwork! you know the normal things, kneeing, open stance, when swinging hip moving plus shoulder rotation, split step, that everyone should constantly perform after every shot of the opponent! We train 2-4 hours every day, but those basic things, to use her body, is something that she is almost not willing to do and to train! She started 1 years ago in a club in Bonn, Germany and aftet only 1 year at 11 will be now playing with the 14 years old girls and she is destroying all the boys and girls till 12 years of age, which most of them have trained more than 5 years, some more! She loves tennis, watches every match, highlights, know everything about every player, women and men, which racket, what age, where they played, you know, etc. So my question to you is, how can I make her start liking those body movements, which are so important and how can i make foot work for her interesting so that she wants to do it the way it is supposed to be done! I will be very thankful if you can give me some tips and or show me resources of interesting drill for an amazing footwork development and also for a decent serve for a child like her at 11! Thanks bud!
Thanks for your comment. Kids are typically stubborn and don’t like to change their habits. The way I like to do it is to show the benefit of a new technique. And explain how exactly and why we’re gonna spend the next X amount of sessions improving it. Also sometimes it’s good for development purposes if a player loses because they’re not able to execute certain skill and that can create a perfect opportunity to sell the idea of improvement. Hope it helps!
Hey Bogdan! Great tips man! A question! My daughter started training tennis at 10 last april! now one year later, she beats all the guys and girls in our club and she is number one in her age group in the club, so today was her first tournament and she played against a girl which is from another club and lost 6:0, 6:0, because she played logically against the number one from tgat club . I asked the girl how long have you been playing: she said 7 years. And actually my daughter has better technique and better strokes but for an year training not the experience at all at tournaments and does not have a lot of knowledge about tactics. Plus her Serve is not at a level that she can count on! My question to you is, is there a certain set of exercises which have proven to be great in order to improve one's serve a lot for a short time, let us say for a month? She needs desperately a much better serve! We spend 2-3 hours on the court every day, but we need a clear strategy of how to really improve her serve, so that she can rely on it in tournaments! Tactics is also a thing that we will start to deeply explore! Thank you for your answer in advance!
Thanks for your comment and question. It’s impossible and unprofessional I’d say to recommend anything without seeing your daughters serve. If you have somewhere online drop a link and I’ll take a look.
@@BogdanGrygorenko Thanks for replying Bogdan! Here is a link, where you can watch how she serves! Just be aware that my daughter was tired from a training and did not have a great desire to serve, so at the beginning of the video she is not doing it how she normally does serve. I recorded it in a slow motion, but please watch the whole video, because the best serves that you will see are not at the beginning of the video! The Slow Motion begins after the first 50 seconds, so please feel free to rewind directly to the second 50 and watch from there! Thank you for you time and tips! Great video. Lots of accurate info that applies not only to kids but adults players who take lessons. My one comment…Running isn’t heavily focused on agility and footwork while soccer places a premium on it so there is plenty of value for a kid who runs to play soccer as well. The two sports develop different things.
Thank you. I understand the difference in skills with two sports. Are you saying that soccer will help someone who does athletics or you wanted to just clarify the difference? Sorry just trying to understand :)
@@BogdanGrygorenko at 5:50 in the video, you say if the child is a runner, you don't see the benefit for the child to then play soccer. My point is that there is ABSOLUTELY a benefit for the child to play soccer because running (sprinting or long distance), doesn't require the extreme levels of footwork, agility, and change of direction like soccer does. The footwork, agility, and change of direction are things that are applicable to tennis while running forward in a straight line isn't that applicable because tennis movement is mostly diagonal and lateral with fewer instances of forward straight line movement. Perhaps I misinterpreted the point you were trying to convey.
Hi..My deep gratitude to you....looking at how you take out time to reply to every one. My Son is 5.6 Yrs and started learning tennis 1 yr back. Do we have a guide or a template...how to become a pro in step by step. Please guide me🙏
It’s hard to just give a vague answer because there’s just too many components that go into consideration. I can give you a more specific guide tailored to you over my consultation if this interests you.
My 13 year old is a 6'1" bball player. He does not practice on his own. Would rather draw or be oh his phone, or watch YT funny videos. If I take him to practice, he will give me 100%. If he goes to team practice or personal trainer, 100%. His issues are dribbling and other simple fundamentals, and his coaches know it, and i have told him. He truly thinks he is really a good player, but he is inconsistent. I'm just keeping it real. Competitive is NOT Rec, and if you're child sausage they have these lofty goals, you want to help them reach those goals. My issue is he simply won't do the extra stuff in his own to build his IQ, dribbling conditioning etc. If I make him do it he will not have the WILL....to do it on his own, and completely. Daughter is 11 y/o and 5'8". Always the tallest girl on the pitch. Read the above. She plays soccer, as an attacker but those fundamental and IQ things are lacking and getting her to do extra stuff is like pulling teeth. She plays Club soccer and was moved up for the first tournament, and reality set in. I'm just about done with wasting thousands of dollars and my time. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. ✌️
Thank you for sharing this. It’s hard to give any advice without asking you few more additional questions. At this age it can be still maturity to take ownership of his basketball. And also simply going through puberty which will have the mood swings and lower energy level. Hard to say. I will be happy to go more in detail over a consultation of this interests you.
@BogdanGrygorenko well, it's simply laziness, and his friends are more important than his goals. He knows it, he just won't admit it. The daughter admits she'd rather do something other than training away from the club. This will more rhan likely be her last year playing club ball. She can play REC. Thank you.
Again such a great conversation. Thank you for introducing us to another new player to look up to as well! Go Mia! 😊

My son is 7 years old and has played 5 days/week consistently with me and an NJTL program I run since age 4. We live in St. Louis, MO in the U.S. He is advanced orange ball in the USTA progression. He is getting more coordinated every day and starting to develop good racket head speed. I feel like he has a strong foundation. He can hit well with most 9-10 year old green ball kids. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what to focus on with him over the next several years. Btw, I'm a 4.5 level player and part-time pro at a local club, so able to devote lots of time to work with him.
Hi Ben, Thanks a lot for your comment. Congrats, looks like your son is on a good track! It’s hard to say exactly what he needs to work on without seeing him. But typically with this age we want to focus on very strong fundamentals, physical, tactical, and technical. If he starts playing green too early his technique may be affected drastically to the point where you’ll have to intervene later, and that’s a waste of time you don’t want to have on our hands. Assuming he has good technique he needs to start developing basic tactical knowledge and basic decision making. That’s his priorities until the age of 10-11. Sorry if it’s a little vague but that’s as much as I can say based on the information provided. Hope it helps and best of luck to you guys!

Hi Bogdan. Greta video. I agree 100% on all points. my son is 13 and is training to be a Pro player. have you got any advice or ideas of how a talented young player can get funding/sponsorship for tennis travels because it's very expensive, especially now that he is going to play many ITF Tournaments. Unfortunately the country we come from doesn't support talented players and therefore need to look elsewhere like private sponsorship. If you have any ideas on this topic please let me know. Karl

At what age?
@BogdanGrygorenko yes what age?
@BogdanGrygorenko my son is in Group lessons now.. he's 6.. Obviously it depends on the kid but everything I read.. says 7-8 is a good age.
Swimming then tennis then add rugby and sprint k1, Compete often , good nutrition like fats(butter) and milk. Add exercise isometric hold tendon flex until failure. Then focus only on tennis after 16, but it takes the right mind + will to win + no fear + tendon strength and nutrition, maybe genetics.
You’re right, so many variables!
Hi, nice video!.. I'm 13 years old and i am currently playing 15hrs per week (turning 14 next year) I've been playing tennis since about 8 yrs old and couldn't join any tournaments because of Covid. Sir rather this long video. You should have explained which tournaments we have to play in order to reach the ATP world tour. How will we be sponsored for clothes shoes racquet strings grips etc..
That’s a good idea for next video ;)
One more question coach! Do you think a parent can be the coach of his kids ( at least at the very beginning of their learning?). I have mixed feelings about it!
I think I’ll be very vague and say it’s possible of course as we’ve seen so many successes (a lot more unsuccessful stories however). It’s very tough to separate the role of a parent and a coach. The reason kids don’t like to be coached by parents because parent continues to coach in the car, during dinner etc. plus kids love their free time away from parents and doing their own thing.
If you have the opportunity definitely have a different coach. However, I should’ve said this in the beginning. It’s practically impossible to achieve success without extra time on court. Most of the time it’s the parent who helps.
@@BogdanGrygorenko it makes sense..very valuable info for us parents

Thank you so much. I found tour video very useful and helpful. I used to be a competitve tennis player..i have two kids: my girl is 4 and my son is 6. They have both taken tennis lessons. At some point, they were both in the same group ( i think this was the first mistake). The coach was impressed with our daughter and was more positive towards her than to our son. One day she told my son that pretty soon our daughter will be better than him. ( I guess she wanted him to behave and listen to her on the court) . That day, he came home amd said that he want to sign out from temnis :( i've been battling this and i took things in my own hands. I still feel the impact on him was big and he always needs confirmation that he is good. He plays soccer as well amd he loves it. I would rather have him play tennis but of course wouldnt force him if his interest is elsewhere. But i'm still upset with what happened with thé coach
Ines thank you so much for kind words but more importantly for sharing your story. This is incredibly valuable to hear and I am sure other parents will find it useful. Unfortunately it’s happening more often than it should. I think also what is happening that your son wants to find his own niche because tennis is sort of occupied by your daughter. He wants his sport. I’ve encouraged this many times. Sometimes parents as well say this without actually saying it. By giving more private lessons to one kid, driving that child to their sport, talking about it a lot at home etc. It’s impossible to prevent though so no worries. Everyone will find their thing they’re passionate about. Thank you Ines.
@@BogdanGrygorenko Thank you for taking the time read my comment and reply to it. You absolutely nailed it when you said that my son is trying to find his own niche. That's absolutely what is happening . And he does feel that tennis is somehow occupied by our daughter. We are trying to change that and whenever I have the opportunity to show him otherwise that's what I do. It's not easy to be a parent :) :) thank you so much again
My kid is teenager and has been playing since 4 years old how do we go about getting him to play in ITF tournaments?
You need to find either a local low rated itf or somewhere abroad, typically Latin America, Africa, or India, depending on your location. He doesn’t have points so he needs to get at least one point so it’s easier for him to get into tournaments. Until then go to those tournaments I mentioned and try to get in. You can be at sign up on Friday (qualies sign up) and get a spot because some people don’t show up. I hope this helps. If you’re Interested in more information we can schedule a consultation :)
