    After this weekend I believe what Aljo said about the bad camp. Did not see any confidence from Chito at the fight. Despite that O'malley was still going to be levels above him.

  • @EasternCombatPerspective
    @EasternCombatPerspective2 ай бұрын

    Yes the bad camp rumors were circulating pre fight, but I agree that they picked Vera for a reason, it was the best stylistic match up for Sean, but the way he fought made it even better.

    its not going to be a kick boxing or boxing fight its going to be a MMA fight and Merab will wash the floor with him if he dont get hit. The issue is that there are not many good fighters in his division.

  • @EasternCombatPerspective
    @EasternCombatPerspective2 ай бұрын

    Yeah I tend to agree that Merab will handle him, but there is always a chance of Sean catching him or anyone for that matter, but that's about it. Merab has trained at my academy and I have met him, hence the disclaimer that even though I may be a bit biased, it does not affect my analysis. I would still pick Sean in any striking disciplines over Merab of course, but MMA is a different beast.

  • @brandonmiles8174
    @brandonmiles81742 ай бұрын

    I agree entirely that it was foolish for chito to not try to wrestle Sean at all. He is a black belt in BJJ and has submission wins. He could not figure out the distance and footwork so he should have slowed him down by clinching and grappling. Bad game plan.

  • @EasternCombatPerspective
    @EasternCombatPerspective2 ай бұрын

    Yes at least test it out or use it to tire him out and give him more to think about than just striking at range. Unless there was a serious physical issue he had which prevented that, it is a bad game plan as you said, with no adjustment during the fight either.

  • @SWEETSIDER
    @SWEETSIDER2 ай бұрын

    if chito can't get close enough to punch or kick someone how exactly is he supposed to clinch or take him down?? needs to get closer than he does to kick to get a takedown.... but clearly you have valuable advice👍

    As an mma critic/fan/analyst, how did you overlook the fact Islam was 2 litres under-hydrated against Volkanovski in the first fight? Islam still won despite being under-strength and that's actually more remarkable than his second victory, where he was expected to win like he did.

  • @EasternCombatPerspective
    @EasternCombatPerspective2 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your opinion, but the topic of that discussion was not Makhachev vs Volkanovski fights, it was briefly touched as a reference point for this discussion. I do think that Islam was likely compromised to a certain extend in that fight, but had I gone to those details in this video, then surely I would have to discuss the 12 day notice aspect in their second fight (not to mention a 15 hour flight to Abu Dhabi on such short notice etc.). Furthermore, there was no rehydration clause or anything like that in the contract and the certain accusations were thrown around from both sides. At the end, I can only go by facts and/or solid insider knowledge, so the facts are that Islam officially won the first fight but it was not easy (and some people thought he lost, not me) and the second fight he won by KO (irregardless of where Volkanovski was shape wise). If I ever do a video dedicated to those 2 fights, I will surely get into all those details and more.

    @@EasternCombatPerspective fighters choose their weight class based off the protocols given to them, which in this case it's 36hrs recovery (as per John McCarthy). Islam was given 26 hours. Fyi Volkanovski himself (on Submission Radio before the first fight) pointed this out, saying he'd be reloaded (because he's going up in weight therefore 26hrs gave him that advantage over Islam). The point being Islam, although under-hydrated, was able to outstrike Volkanovski, but going into the last round the affect of the shortened recovery time was obvious. In summary, a *weakened* Islam out-struck a prime Volkanovski. Much emphasis must be placed on the fact Islam wasn't at full strength. This renders the 12 day argument null and void because Volkanovski couldn't beat Islam when Islam was weakened. My whole point is if you're going to use mma math then make sure you show the entire picture. Ilia is dangerous and a menace to most in the lightweight division, but as you point out there's a road he has to travel first. His punches are lethal and would make a good fist fight with someone like Gaethje or Charles Oliveira. Islam is too technically sound in his defense, and his sharpshooting was proven against Volkanovski in the first fight, and also against Oliveira. Mma math tells me if Volkanovski was up in the first round due to striking over ilia then Islam would be further ahead.

    I think the main thing is the drama that he brings and all of the entertainment for casual fans. For now and fans of MMA just watching, it's all a bit of hype and honestly quite annoying. To see Connor just hungry for attention instead of just going to fight and showing whatever skills he may have. It's evident that he's past his best, and now it's just continuously all this fuss fuss fuss with him and I think over time it'll fizzle out because he doesn't offer anything in MMA skill in significant stature since the Khabib and Poirier losses. It's also a real shame to see him being this money and attention seeking prick in full abundance but now without actually going and showing what his talk is all about and displaying the level of skill he used to. Instead of embracing his prime, he's clearly just looking to gain attention from brain dead fans by delaying his "comeback", and when he's done and he stays loaded for life he'll probably have moments of regret that he didn't use what he had left of his career.
