Good vid. under the fuel pump is a fuel pump timing advance screw. If you did not know you turn it in 3 turns anti clock and It make starting the DB's a lot easer. Once running you have to screw it out again. I have a 1974 DB 996 which sat doing nothing by the sea for a year which I have been getting back to running order for a while now. M😀

The fun of old tires on rusty rims, been there done that lots over the last 35 years since I started messing with old tractors and farming. You said you wanted to know what happened with that 9700 ford I was thinking of buying. It was a bit of a wreck that didn't run an not much was known about why it sat 20 years. She'd got 10K hours with bad tires, wildlife had been in the cab but it was nice bodywork under the rust and paint. it made $8000 non running, and I figured it would need another 8-10K to put it right as it needed to be restored, so I ran. About 3 days later I bought a North American spec ford 5000 diesel or blue grey super major as you'd know it. It runs /drives after 2 hours messing with it and apart from a bit of rot on the nose and mud guards is fairly original with an original top link and 4 corners of wheel weights. I gave a more agreeable $1500 for that . Thanks for the video, Take care

Hi Steve, Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and comment. Classic tractor magazine did an article on the 8200 stating it was developed by County but like you said it is the Schindler front axle. If your interested, please google Ford 8200. This should lead to the article I have seen.

Thanks for the video, 4 fergies is kinda irrelevant when you need a shed big enough to fit the 82 in lol. I commented when you got the 82 I'd like a bigger Ford, my buddy opened his mouth yesterday when we pulled the motor on his 10/60 Nuffield to rebuild it and said " Hey did you see the non running 9700 in a local farm auction next month" I guess if it's not to bad to get running and cheap enough it's coming home ! Take care.

@@tractoraddict1983 Hi I've watched him do that, I was commenting about him welding that flywheel and re drilling the holes from a tractor pulling safety point of view. That wasn't smart then it cracked on him before he got it installed ,so saved him a very nasty experience when it let go running at a show or somewhere else. unless you get lucky and find a tractor spec engine cheap, it's still a lot of work fitting the combine or truck motor. I'd try keeping this one original I think.

I am unsure, I am thinking all grey but then I think it would be nice with the rims of the wheels done in Coniston green to give a little nod to the land rover side of things, but unsure at the moment. I spilt it in half last night to do the input shaft seal because it has started leaking.

To be honest you made the right choice if the 82's what you wanted. Your Major was well in with some of the nicest ones out there from what I've seen watching the internet from Canada, but everybody and their dog is making them now like the old original 6 pot conversions or the 5.9 cummins swaps it's not that unusual now like they were when Richard Vincent built one of the first V8 ones in the U.K. That ford 82 was only a limited number from new, and tractor guys can't re create it from a pair of wheels and other bits like all the major conversions. I remember when i was a kid living in Hertfordshire back in the 80's dads friend had a fleet of those 8200's pulling manure spreaders. Yeah I like a nice Major with a ford 6 and I'm doing one now which isn't that common here in Canada, but those Fords and the bigger ones like the 8000's and TW's are a sweet tractor I wouldn't mind if the price was ever right these days as well. Take care
