forum.dcs.world/topic/270558-civilian-objects-and-vehicles/ Refer to this link :)
I can't get it to work, can you make a tutorial?
Sorry I can't get my hands on videos right now. But refer to my other videos. Especially kzread.info/dash/bejne/k3ufwch9abWxd6w.htmlsi=4erw-Td9YlvEjjh1 See from 4:08. You can watch collective controll until touch down. left most vertical bar in the control ind. box at bottom right of screen is the collective. Simply put, autorotation performing, at least in MSFS or DCS helos, is to maintain forward speed and to balance falling speed and resistance to fall using collective. too much resistance will make you loose all rotor blade rotation speed.
No flaps? 💀
Maybe replay problem :)
What controls do you use for your collective?
I use Right thumbstick Y for collective. from center to bottom. It's sensitive and tricky because its springy and returning. some other times use RT or Thrustmaster throttle. But most of time, usually RStick is best
Ok thanks! I’ve been trying to use buttons but it’s been an absolute struggle so I’ll try that out.
@@xtraversed Thx man, I tried your method using RStick for collective (with 80% saturation) now I can somewhat properly 'fly' this rage inducing module
@@cdogdeluxe6037 make sure to go into axis tune and give yourself abit of a dead zone buffer of 8 so you dont have stick drift issues
I love how the skin in an LAPD skin, when they don't use MD helicopters. It would look better as Las Vegas Metro since its the same paint job, and they actually use MD500s.
That's funny😁 Thanks for watching and info
Do you give helicopter lessons lol. I am addicted to Helicopters in MSFS right now, I can take off and fly around just fine but I can not land them. How do you bleed off airspeed and transition from forward flight so easily. That is where I die every time.
Thanks for the complement lol. Yes, helo flying is serious fun. Although I am sure practice and time will do the job, some tips those may help: 1. Just stop pushing the cyclic forward then keep adjusting collective to maintain alt you want. Next time, if you become easy with the above, try even pull back the cyclic and of course collective control to achieve altitude or proper line of descent. 2. Try head tracker if you haven't. This gives more immersive sensation of being in the middle of air and so gives more urgent and desperate to land safely like a bird in its virgin flight. This worked for me lol.
@@xtraversed I fly almost exclusively in VR so I feel like I am in the Helicopter for real. I have the Reverb G2 and I have my settings so dialed in that it is almost monitor level clarity in VR.
@@CRAZYHORSE19682003 That's great!😀
thanks for the vid and flight :)

Really cool sim model. It would be funny if the humans in here actually moved away from this crazy looking contraption and looked upset.

that's a hilarious idea lol!
i really thought someone build this in his backyard when i saw the thumbnail xD
Haha XD funny and thanks!
Me as well! 😂

That would be a death landing in real life the ground texture isnt that smooth in real life wirh rocks and or deep snow
Right, if it were IRL😃 Later I downloaded a fictional airstrip mod at the position of landing.
OMG your good go go go yes
Thanks! 😁
Nicely flown
Thanks :)
I tried the Apache on a trial as well. It was neat but I think the Apache just generally lacks the same oomph and character that the KA-50 has. Ended up buying the Black Shark 3 as its way more fun imo.
I appreciate your opinion. How did you feel about not having to counter pedal?
Nice video.
Thanks!

no a-a mistral's right now. I was crying dude. But still love the gazelle and its and awsome helicopter.

Why the low level flight over all the buildings for so long. Seems like a successful auto rotation is sketch at best. Choose a LZ in that area at that altitude. Not me!
Alright you may think so :) That was my second time autorotation in pretty realistic settings.
Some lovely views 3:35! Love the sound! Nice one!
Many thanks!
i hope the polychop team can resolve minigun issue when it comes to mapping / binding the minigun slew to a joystick

Haha, Really thankful for sub and glad that my video was helpful!
I have no interest in anything Cowansim makes until they fix the tilt problem in cruise flight; it's totally unrealistic. Yet other developers such as HPG with their H145 helo have managed to overcome the tilting bug with native MSFS2020 helicopter dynamics.
Maybe, because of this I, in high speed, fly tilted left or a little sideways to the right.
@@xtraversed Exactly. At speed, the vertical stabilizer on the tail of a real helicopter uses aerodynamic force to dampen out yaw. Native Asobo helicopter flight dynamics, however, do not replicate this. Therefore, Cowansim helicopters have to be flown in a bank at all times. I personally can't stand it.

How do you set the stick up and sensitivities for the 500 ? Mine flies like a drunk is in control of it!
Actually, nothing special about the curve in stick setup :) Mines are almost straight line for the cyclic. The curves applied makes the hovering position farther away from the mechanical stick center. Even makes small, continuous adjustment required during hovering different between left and right. These make the handling of helicopter more difficult if curves are applied. (Curves makes less sensitivity around the physical stick center. But what we need is less sensitivity at hovering center). Several alternatives to lessen the stick sensitivity(so as to fine-control): 1. Make the stick physically longer (For my XBC which is gamepad, use Kontrol Freak or home made extending caps) 2. Just make the line less sloppy. That "extremity dead zone" to some positive values like 40. Of course this is limiting but I think this is practical for helicopter flying in normal situations. 3. Setting the "reactivity" to zero or very small value. Works in some different way. It's temporal smoothing. This also may help. (This is primary method for mapping 2cm movement of gamepad stick to 900 degree rotation steering wheel of a car in driving games). For me now and MSFS MD500, method 1 is sufficient and necessary when using XBC(Xbox controller). For DCS gazelle 1 and 2 is necessary. Hope this helps :) Also check my community post. there's snapshots of my setup for MSFS.
Hi. How you get the rear door off? I been trying everything. Thanks
It's a trick :) Attach work bench and under carriage bag together.
This looks like dcs flight Sim (digital combat simulator) Some of these people build setups with real yokes and rudder pedals etc. Here's an example. Just add stormy weather and you can imagine it's the same flight Sim as in the short. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ka6f1Zutl9WfYaw.html .
hello and good day Your flying skills are great. What joystick and pedals do you fly with ? Thanks
Thank you for watching 😄 For input, I don't currently use flight stick and throttle. I use mostly gamepads. Sometimes RC controller(Radiomaster zorro) or G29's pedal for collective. But mostly and recently XBOX X|S controller for MSFS and DCS
Great piloting using the controllers. I'm an rc helipilot, and I also use to use my transmiter or Xbox controller. Seemed pretty easy and natural for me to control until I switched to a joystick rudder and collective. I thought It would be really really easy to finally pull up to go up. Instead of pushing up on the transmitter. But it took my brain a while to get use to the coordination needed by my hands and feet. But know I will never go back. So much more fun. If you ever can you should give it a try. I believe you will be hooked as well.
@@sal98 Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂 I actually had several joysticks years before and recently have used for a moment VKB one with hall effect sensors and felt great. In fact, frequently thinking about what joystick to buy and how to install it but at least I have to change my desk to some lower one first. I'm not thinking controller can do everything or superior to joysticks. Gamepads have a lot of limitations. Just using for its convenience😀
Sounds great. Well, keep up the awesome videos. Love to see more heli sim pilots
Yes, apparently there is an issue when approaching a pad or other surface where the height changes quickly. Adverse updraft is very hard to control. Hype Performance Group believe it is worse for some aircraft than others and have submitted a bug report.
Totally agree!
HELP.I have this bird but can't for the life of me get the throttle to work.. any ideas (all other helicopters I have are fine)...
Oh sorry about that. Did you tried binding 'collective' to your controller or device?
@@xtraversed yes

Awesome! Love the Gazelle. Good video
How do you do RC mode?
When you are in drone cam view, if you press "toggle plane control" then you can control the plane like an RC.😄
@@xtraversed duuuuuude....
@@xtraversed yeah I tried it... tried setting up my xbox controller like my RC heli, it was a complete mess. Not sure why but those controls are just too "laggy" to be usable. I'm gonna try with my HOTAS next time.
@@stephenconger2029 I have no clue why such on xbox. BTW what you're gonna try means the RC mode piloting right? Anyway, If you let me suggest what to do next with XBC(xbox controller) though may sound not very reasonable: How about using left stick for cyclic/right stick for collective and rudder though usually RC heli controls are different. In XBC, collective is springy and returning compared to non-tensioned collective in RC controler. These things required some adaptation time. Also consider using only lower half of RSY. Sorry if my suggestion is irrelevant. Good luck with you HOTAS next time.
It looks really fun, i saw it on the store yesterday:D
Very easy and simple to fly :) but pretty difficult to land. Gotta find more of fun place to fly around
Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the community. - Gotfriends

It's the only RC rated simulated "Wolf" with the original AIRWOLF Turbine Sounds by flying... And by the way the first with real working Jet-turbo... Love the Wolf with all His details... All the love that the one man from Germany put in his Work by develop this nice RC Simulator...
:) yes turbo sound is very inspiring
Nice too see that you use "Hover Here"... I'm flying this RC Sim and outsides "Not Sims" but RC... And the flightmodel, the physics and the awesome Details which are in Here are amazing... It's very helpfull cause so i think i burn Not so much Money by crashing my Models 😜 And it's an "hobby-projekt" the programmer does it as Hobby... The "big RC Sims" they feels not so good, in my opinion... The birds, the insects-swarms, so much little things what make the lovely difference between the other buyable products... I mean Hover Here is completely FREE and constantly the Developer Drops more stuff in IT and Update bis Work... VR-Support, and this feels really like i stay outside with my RC Heli in a field and Drive a few rounds in the Sky 😉
I agee with you:) It has much realistic flight model, including VRS. I imagine, If he had interest, he coud make a DCS helicopter module haha. DCS helicopter module requires addon developer provide the fm core. Though I'm not a RC guy, I play it from time to time. It's simple and light, quick to launch when Im tired but just wanna grab the gamepad stick and enjoy flying in to air. MSFS and DCS are too heavy to launch when exhausted:) Thanks for comment!
@@xtraversed MSFS it's easier if your own batterie is empty, cause it's just flying without enemys in the sky 🫣🤣
@@carstenhomuth8509 Haha, right :)
the flight model is waaay off, looks more like a glider than a helicopter tbh. no way you can keep gliding like that once close to the ground. it seems like the authors think the blade system is a giant flywheel with infinite amounts of inertia. not how it works. your glidepath would be extremely steep in autorotation, also keep the speed in check, if you go a lot above the 60 nominal knots you won't be able to maintain rotor rpm, which is a real problem IRL. lose the rpms, and you're dead. there should also be a horn blaring at you at 90something% rotor rpm. you don't want to hear that sound, it's trouble. valiant effort though on the flying, considering the limits of the sim. get a set of decend pedals if you are serious about heli sims, and keep the ball in the center, very important expecially if you are landing on skids.
Thanks for good info!
I'm conflicted in the realism aspect of it all. I have seen comments from real pilots testing the R44 that say it feels very realistic, then others saying it's not even close. I don't know which to believe. I guess other than the DCS Huey, heli sims are pretty much non-existent, or at least not one that everyone can agree is close to the real thing. It's kinda sad because I have been flying the R44 to get some feel for what the real thing may be like, and practicing things like hovering and simple maneuvers. Oh well, I guess I will have to wait for helicopter school to make my own comparison and figure it out.
Totaly agree😄 Like the gazelle in DCS. Very much controversy. My personal recognition is on the side that FM is serious flawed. TBH, being not any kind of expert or practisner of related field, with my limited knowledge and experience, MD500 feels as real as DCS Huey. I can't distinguish out more unatural feeling of MD 500 compared to DCS huey. And I am acutally quite satisfied with MSFS heli fm. Of course many wishlist in various aspects but It's fun. And at least clearly feels more real than GTA5 heli or Arma3 heli. Good for you about the school. Hope hear from you about your opinion after that🙂
the flight model is completely unrealistic, there is no way you can hold main rotor rpm with so much collective in descent; anything more than a touch to keep the rotor from overspeeding will depress your rpm and you will fall out of the sky. if anything, if you pull to cushion your touchdown, at the end you should be able to see the blades visibly spinning, they would get so slow. no way you can do those manouvers like climbing over trees and stuff. that's not how helicopters work, lol. there is a lot of the flight model for helicopters that is not modelled in msfs.
Thanks for input and sharing your RL experience😄My collective input is visible only on trial 1 and 4. All other scenes are captured from replay so the input viewer widget displays incorrect info. Trial 1, quite constant collective used than rotor rpm dropped almost to 300. Trial 4, some last part. Others, almost zero collective until last descent or hard flaring. I agree with someone's input that with collective zero or not the helo glides pretty farther with less speed loss. But this is just my subjective opinion and my agreement doesn't make any judgement on MSFS. For rotor rpm decreasing speed I appreciate your input from experience but subjectively, TBH, not agreeing or disagreeing to any degree. Not that I have strong opinion but almost no clue. I may be checking a good many IRL vids of MD500 autorotation if the rotor rpm gauge is readable🙂
G'day mate! I have the 500E to but it certainly does not fly steady like yours! Mine flys like a drunk is behind the cyclic! Can you share your mappings, sensitivities etc? Also, do you setup your actual trim tabs on the cyclic in the cockpit? Somebody else did top at -15.5 and backside of trim to -24.5. I love the MD500 but...sigh. Thanks.
Thanks and sorry about that😅 My controller setup was posted on the community page of this channel yesterday. Hope that helps. If you haven't, suggesting you to try 0 for reactivity value and increase there after. And for the trims, I don't use trims for helicopters. For me, helicopters piloting is like riding a bycle with front the fork a little bent to left or light, in slow speed so I just keep moving cyclic.
