I've arrived on site and the motor is operating OK, but the step is just sliding back and forth and somehow disconnected and so does not go in and out ??? Any suggestions???? Help !!

Other than a total dissemble of all components I’m not sure what might be happening here. Try turning off and on the auto close on your dashboard menu.

Absolutely brilliant video showing your repair and how the step works. My step has stopped working, due to the white cut off switch being faulty. Water had got into the switch and rusted the return spring inside, meaning that the lever didn't ping out when the step was down. New switch ordered, waiting for delivery. Your video should give others confidence to tackle step problems, thanks for taking the time and effort uploading this to help others. One very small point - I found the music a little off-putting and it didn't add anything to the video, other than that, brilliant and thank you!

From the reversing light and connected the negative wire to the vehicle chassis. These still work a treat👍

I have the same problem so your video has shown me what to do. Out of interest do you know where the fuse is for the step as I am not sure I am getting any power to the step at the moment so want to check the fuse. Great video with easy to follow steps
@astrospire Жыл бұрын
Hi, not sure where the fuse is but as mine runs through the ignition I assume it is in the main box? Make sure you have it switched on to operate if using the step close function when you start the vehicle. Otherwise I can only suggest checking the connections at the step motor. Regards vertical.

Excellent idea but here is just a thought, what could stop a thief from pushing down the back seat part or from flattening it all the way down so that they can drive off the vehicle while using it as a stool like sitting platform?
@astrospire Жыл бұрын
It is not possible to lower the seat right down due to the type of internal construction of these vehicles. There is simply no room to do this. This is just one of the security measures that I use. So it's just an extra method. Of course if the thieves are really determined then nothing will prevent them from taking your vehicle!

@@astrospire Many thanks for the additional info, I’ll definitely get one for ours. As you highlighted, any extra layers of security measures can always help deter or slow thieves down.

Hi mate, nice job, just wondering as Im looking at fitting a step, is your motorhome with the step an ALKO chassis as I have a Bailey on an ALKO and keep getting told I cant fit one as it's too low?
@astrospire Жыл бұрын
Yeah. I do know that you need to have the right space for fitting. This was on the van when I got it. But I have seen some different arrangements with different types of steps! If they say it cannot be fitted then they may be right. But all in all it is just bolted on. Obviously you need the electric connection to your ignition so when you start up it automatically closes. Sorry I can’t advise you more as I didn’t fit it. I have seen some low fitting one in my travels- best to investigate further on the internet. Try Motorhome fun website.

I’m a bit confused. I’ve done the exact same thing with our MoHo with the same lock. But why use the black bracket? It’s purpose is a carrying bracket to fix the lock to a motorbike when it’s not being used. I’ve just used M14 washers to keep it tight.
@astrospire3 жыл бұрын
Simple - it just acts as a top washer just to close the gap. Obviously people can fit whatever they like!

Hi. I’m about to fit these lights. When splicing the blue and green wires together in the red connector do I need to cut the green wire. Thanks.
@atvstel4 жыл бұрын
No. The factory wire stays intact. However, it might not be a good idea to cover those places on the bumper. I wouldn't fit those LEDs because they cover those openings. Maybe, those openings are for a reason. Just maybe. One of the two sides to bring cold air to the air intake. Cold air is more dense. The other side is for appearance so they will look uniform. Covering them might cause the intake to take hot air only from the engine compartment. Hot air will reduce the power of the van.

Hi, no - you don't have to cut the green wire if you have one of those little blue cable joiners. But otherwise you can as long as you fix them all together with a connector. Of course you can soldier them together and tape them up as well!
