  IMHO Wei Ying is so “Dense” probably partly because he doesn’t believe he could ever “deserve” the love and affection of someone as good as the Second Jade of Lan. Sure, it’s pretty funny seeing Wei Ying be so oblivious, but in a way it’s also kind of sad 😢

  More than this, you should be worried about the tragedy that follows them every step of the way. That your heart will never be able to handle, but scenes like this will piece it back together again. Only for it to be ripped apart in the next chapter. By the way, it was a novel first and then adapted into a donghua and drama. The novel is considerably more gay, but I think the donghua at least tried its hardest to represent the relationship faithfully while skirting around censorship laws. They got really creative.
