    You should not place sketches on existing solid faces (7:14) when you have an easy opportunity to put it on the base plane. It makes the model unstable and relying on previous features and Solidworks is terrible with stability of features. You don't build the model as a one-timer thing unless it actually is a build-print-forget thing. Think about modifying it and about your workmates that might take it over in the future.

  • @mechcadicaltutorial
    @mechcadicaltutorialАй бұрын

    Thanks for taking time...taking existing face is preferred because when we modify patent feature, it will loose it's dependency, and child feature can move any where. What you said concept is mostly useful in top down approach, when we create two different components in an assembly, with edit mode. In future, I am going to add more videos on topdown approach.

    Hi is it possible to split multiple parts in an assembly STP file and then delete the other parts in the assembly that was split?

  • @mechcadicaltutorial
    @mechcadicaltutorial2 ай бұрын

    Convert assembly file into single part file, then Convert this part file to step file, import step file into part solidworks, now you can split any part and also delete. If possible I will try to make video. You must be asking this question for 3D printing.

    Hi @@mechcadicaltutorial I am asking more for process plant assemblies, in SolidWorks. Thank you for replaying to my comment. I am currently working with a standard plant 3D model that was sent by the supplier but I managed to split the standard plant into sub-sections so that I can customize the placement of certain piping, conveyors and feed lines. To show where it connects into the existing plant and adjust the positioning and spacing of the new process plant pipes, conveyors and feedlines and new machinery. Thank you for the video with it I was able to split the model using planes and sub-divide the areas, into more manageable sub-sections.

    This "repeat last command" is like "Spacebar Command" in Auto CAD, so In solidworks you can use "Enter Button" for same application, which saves time, this command is for all the modules like part modeling, sheet-metal etc
