Here you will find all the very best clips from the archive of the world’s pre-eminent classical singing competition as well as some new content relating to the programme. The biennial competition has launched the careers of some of the biggest opera stars, such as Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Bryn Terfel, Jamie Barton and 2019 winner baritone Andrei Kymach from Ukraine.
2023 will mark the 40th anniversary of the competition and audiences can follow all the drama - including all rounds of the main prize, the song prize final and the main prize final across the BBC. Every round will be on BBC Four, with programmes also available on BBC Two Wales, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer.

I was there on the night and while I will say she sounded great I do have to add that the late Cara O'Sullivan RIP who represented Ireland that night was every bit as good on the night. I believe it was between the two of them in the final. What a night we had in St. David's Hall! For that matter all the finalists were excellent too. A night I will never forget.

Очень тяжело,глубоко, слушать неприятно. Но здесь еще по молодости ничего. А впоследствии вообще куда-то заглубил и пел глуховатым ,широким матовым звуком. Сколько случаешь итальянцев, представителей советской школы ,- у всех яркое ,звонкое звучание,а тут утробой зачем-то поёт. Так научили,увы

Deve smussare ancora parecchie cose nondimeno e passabile rispetto a tante voci orribili.... La scelta di questa romanza è quanto mai azzardata visto ancora l insicurezza della tecnica.

This performance dates back many years. Over that time no doubt her singing has progressed. To the mere admirer of beauty I can only say how lovely she is and how much I enjoy watching and listening to her. Ican only repeat what her many admirers have said so well.

When her voice was a lyric soprano. I loved her Brünnhilde here in SF, but all those Wagner roles aged her voice very quickly 😢
