Hi Bill, do you know if there are some mechanical component made in silicon inside this cal 4400? Thanks 🙏
Milus Blue 👍
I loved the simple style of the first 3 hand watch but the date complication ruins it for me. It is idiosyncratic, subjective, a matter of personal taste. That's why I prefer vintage. The only exception, I like vintage chronographs, I have a 1940s Pierce chronograph
I have a real SUB but I also bought one of these replicas from MaMaCoo for piece of mind if I go to another country or if I am doing activities that can damage the watch. I don't see anything wrong with that.
FP Journe? Very nice watch you’re wearing Bill! The challenge with the Atora watch, with their own watch movement, is maintenance I fear. Will they be in business 10 years from now,…
Bill I'm thinking about purchasing from overseas. I'm not sure what that process is or will be like or if I have to incur any extra cost in association to the price and the shipping fees. Can you please advise on your experiences
Where are you located Muqtasid? Depending on where they're sending it will affect the price. Take care, Bill
Thanks for sharing. The beaublue is absolutely mesmerizing on the videos I have seen. I would love to wear one.
The beaublue second 'hand' has the same kind of attraction you get from looking at a tourbillon, Ed. Take care, Bill
Milus Blue Odessey is a very interesting watch.
I like it too, Don. It's got a top grade ETA, and while I don't think the helium release valve is going to be used, for a world-timer, it's a nice one. Take care, Bill
Great content Bill 🥃
Hey Tim, thanks man! Take care, Bill
Nice watches. I think my choice would be the Beaubleu. It’s certainly a conversation starter. I’m not sure how you set the time though, where’s the crown?
The Beaubleu is going to be a favorite I believe, Silver Horse. Take care, Bill
Atowak make quite a few interesting watches . Thanks Bill .
Some their the reviews and up-close images and videos show it to be much, much better than I expected. Take care, Bill
Hey Bill, great watches, I’m seriously questioning my picks now! All the best, Ed
This year is a tough one, Ed. Too many interesting watches. Take care, Bill
This shaped movement is gorgeous and I certainly understand why you would want a watch with it!
If the right one comes my way and I can afford it, Emmanuele, I may end up with one after all-it's gotta be pre-2009, though. Take care, Bill
The Beaubleu looks really cool, I definitely would pick that out of the 3. Thanks Bill.
The hands and creativity of the Beaubleu are prize-worthy, Abdul. Take care, Bill
Crazy to have such nice watches under /3k. Beaubleu is my choice for the challenge
I too like it and French watches in general. Take care, Bill
I really like that Beaubleu. In addition to these, Vitreum was another one that looked interesting to me. Enamel dials that look similar to Anordain but without the 5 year waitlist.
I do like the Vitreum as well, Jonathan, but there's almost no information about the movement other than it's 4Hz and manual wind. The write-up waxes poetic but gives almost no horological information. Take care, Bill
My pick is the Nomos Glashütte Tangente.
Yes, Truman, that is very competitive. This year is a rough one all around. Take care, Bill
Will the Bel Canto make another list?
That was last years GPHG entry from CW, this years it’s a moonphase.
It might if they re-submit another version of it, Steve. Take care, Bill
Which one is my favorite changes fairly often but it generally works out to being a top 3-5 that get worn more often than others. It always depends on the needs of the occasion.
That sounds about right for the rest of us CT. Take care, Bill
Jaysus Bill, thats 4am on a Monday here😂
It does it automatically, and I'm snug as bug in bed then James.😴 Take care, Bill
Guinand Flight Engineer . great bezel , great movement , great dial , 200 meters , good lume , comfortable , durable , anti-magnetic and great quality . Having said that I really could never decide as I enjoy every one that I ever liked enough to purchase . lol I may be a bit confused .
Nah, TooMany...you sound like a watch collector who loves too many watches! Not unusual in this hobby! Take care, Bill
I have a favorite brand lol 😂 Tudor. At the sub $5000 it is very difficult to find better than Tudor. Currently own the Tudor Pro GMT, Black Bay Chronograph, BB58, Glamour date and the Hydronaut, that being said my one and only favourite has to be my Zenith El Primero Rainbow Chronograph 😊😊😊😊
Tudor has some nice watches, Canadian WM, especially for the price. My favorite Tudor is their Black Bay GMT. Take care, Bill
This is a tough topic, all the watches l don't sell are my favorites. If l were to pick one now, meaning this watch would be the last one l let go, it would be the Parmigiani Toric 70th anniversary celebrating Michel's 70th birthday. It is a daily wearer made in stainless steel, knurling on the bezel, guilloche dial, guilloche gold rotor, QF certified, double barrel for a more consistent power transmission, all designed and made in house, can't ask for more.
Like you, Raymond, I have difficulty saying any single watch is "my favorite"... but it's easy to have a "case full of favorites!" Take care, Bill
No maker punishes and tests their movements and cases than Panerai
I do not find consistency in Panerai. What you say may be true with their divers, but it seems that sometimes the people responsible for the movements are asleep at the wheel. Take care, Bill
I’m about to pick up a 2016 5140 with enamel dial. Hand painting of the dial being one of the attractions.
Wow! Mark! That sounds like a beauty! Take care, Bill
my 36mm 18K rose gold, manual wind, 1950s, IWC dress watch. I like the classic design, solid precious metal, prefer manual wind, only 3 hands simplicity, the 3-6-9-12 marker dial layout. I'm totally a vintage guy but I have some modern. My sweet spot 34-36.
Russell, those kinds of watches are making a lot more sense these days. Solid all the way around and with full gold cases. Take care, Bill
JLC very nice I’ve the WTG and Compressor
Those are two winners Stephen! Take care, Bill
GP might be the oldest company to be a full manufacturer. They predate JLC, Moser, and Bovet. Breguet has some claims based on the watches built by Abraham Louis Breguet, but even he made use of other watchmakers.
GP has made the claim to be the most ancient as has Breguet and some others-including VC. I like Jaquet Droz for the oldest because of his involvement with the Chinese Imperial Court....but there are probably older English brands, Mask. Take care, Bill
If only I had a time machine!
As do we all IC! Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci You too Bill! I'm having a heck of a time right now going through your entire video catalogue. Very sad I didn't discover you earlier!
I bought a new Polaris Chronograph in April and am having troubles with it already. Wind up it up and it doesn't start till I give it a good shake and even then it'll stop again shortly afterwards. Also, the buttons don't always catch when pressed. I'm going to have to bring it back to JLC when I can get into London. Surely it can't need a service already just three months after opening the box
Sounds like a serious problem. Definitely send it in to be fixed. Let us know what happens, McP. Take care, Bill
hard to say what an ideal watch would be, I’m thinking more in the realm of ideal collection 😂
Probably a wiser way to think about it...putting the pieces of a puzzle together Mask. Take care, Bill
tremblage, no Geneva stripes. round watch. power reserve (love the power reserve Moritz Grosman horizontal one). > 70 hrs. power reserve. micro rotor. 12mm. thin or less case.
The dial looks a bit like instant-vintage on the Tremblage. Eric...the Benu Primavera is more to my liking with the same movement as the Tremblage. Take care, Bill
Bill, how do you feel about a JLC powered "everyday" watch for someone with an active lifestyle subject to shock, vibration, bumps and the like?
Hey! Shhhhhhhhhhhhh! Keep it a secret 😂
Gotcha Oldslabsides!🤫 Take care, Bill
I have two Farers, and both come with noteworthy movements: 1) Farer Ainsdale II (ETA 251.294 FK PowerDrive Precision) 2) Farer Discovery (La Joux-Perret G101) #1 is a quartz chronograph with flyback, split-seconds rattrapante, and an adjustable hour. It was rumoured that Farer bought up the last of these ebauches. I would also say that it’s above-average in accuracy, though not the highest level. For #2, you probably already know the merits of this one. Why have an ETA 2842 or Sw200 when you can get something virtually the same but with 68 hours reserve? It’s not a powermatic but the Swatch group isn’t sharing those
Hey Brain, thanks for the info on the Farers. Take care, Bill
Jaegers Master Comp World Time Extreme…. My favorite watch under $10k but 46mm is gargantuan for me Love to see the rest of these watches too
All of them are available online to explore Boris. The world time extreme is a sweet choice! Take care, Bill
Great choices i have the Seagull 1963 38mm with a Swan neck regulator. I've had it maybe 5 years had no problems. I think i paid $179 . Great little watch.
Thanks Junior, my Seagull-based Perpetual Regulator works wonderfully well-rough on winding but otherwise great. Take care, Bill
A good vintage JLC time only, powermatic or even a early memovox can often sell the same or less than a vintage tudor with their off the shelf movements, which is crazy. JLC has it all as a company, the history, capable of making almost any kind of watch...and clocks, all in relatively low volumes compared to Rolex omega etc. Marvellous company!
Not too concerned with resale price, Omega, but JLC make excellent horology. Take care, Bill
Great video Bill. I was actually on C24 last night searching for van clef & arpels and found a lovely chronograph which says it has a JLC899. Intrigued I delved into calibres only to find that the 899 does not have a chronograph function! Now horribly confused!
Hi Cubatea...the caliber is JLC889, but that doesn't help much either since it is not a chronograph either. My hunch is that it's the 889 with the dubois depraz chronograph module. Just a guess, though. Take care, Bill
Cubatea, I believe the correct JLC is 889, but it too has no chronograph, either. My hunch is that a dubois depraz chronograph module was added to the JLC889. Take care, Bill
Squadra and its groundbreaking 975 cal movement (ceramic bearings, shockproofing, maltese cross mechanism...etc) deserve a mention
Yes, the Squadra, Dan. That is a special timepiece! Take care, Bill
The Squadra is the sporty modern reverso that many people don’t know about
@@ThriftyCHNR yep "overlooked and underpriced JLC" 👌🏽
Before I played the video, I just knew you were going to feature the Geophysic. 😂 One watch that I think is underrated is the Master 8 Days Perpetual 1618420 with manual wind caliber 876.
Good horology doesn't change, Gilberto ... we just forget about it. Take care, Bill
I personally think the Chopard Classique (ref. 16/1168) is very underrated. Its a solid gold dress piece with a 818/4 JLC ebauche movement. Can usually be bought around 2500 to 3000 USD!
I agree HRM. I need to do a video on Chopard-it's a tricky brand: LUC vs everything else in Chopard. Take care, Bill
JLC is the watchmakers watch, their prices went quite up in the past couple of years. I think there is a great value in these True seconds watch, and the Ultra Thin Power Reserve. Thanks Bill for the video.
Yes, they are the 'watchmakers watch.' They're about horology since they started as a movement maker just like Agenhor, Abdul. Take care, Bill
Spot on Abdul. I have had the Ultra Thin for 15 years - still gives me the same feeling. It helps JLC have kept the line only playing with size a bit.
Unfortunately JLC is a great brand but a toxic brand. So hard pass
There he is!! The Harvard graduate himself.
@@MJT_2.0 the summary of newer collectors,:if my watch does not raise 20% in value in a month it's a bad watch 😅.
@@MJT_2.0 don’t forget graduate school too. JLC a toxic brand currently. Hope Richmond can turn it around
@@TimG-- Sure Brotha Flip. It's toxic to get a great watch at a bargain. Kindly. PT.
@@MrPolowu JLC is currently rudderless. They increased their prices where the watch market is dead. Good luck with this watch mate. The jumping seconds a great watch but discounted for a reason …not a money maker for RICHMOND. It’s still way over priced on a secondary market. JLC needs to revamp the brand
🔥👌🏾I want Jaeger LeCoultre to create a piece unique for me: start with the modern master control memovox, but NO DATE, all applied numerals, .925Ag/Al alloy case, silver dial, and gold rotor for the exhibition case back. I want a deployant strap buckle also in .925Ag/Al. How much would you all pay Jaeger LeCoultre for this?💸💰
Christopher, I don't think they'd do that for you! Shop around until you find something else that you like! Take care, Bill
I hoped that not too many people would know about the wonderful bargains from the most underrated brand in the world ;-)
I know Erik... I'm ruining it for myself too-I really like that world timer! Take care, Bill
Hi Bill. Thanks just got the VC Aroels yesterday. Love it ❤️❤️
Wow! Hey 4Doggie, which one did you get? Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci the one you showed on the video. Dual time …. Love it. Thanks. U may recall I also purchased Parmigiani Metrographe based on your review …. VC Arpels dual time is beautiful and received great compliments from colleagues except for Mrs who thinks I’m out of control 🤣🤣🤣
@@4doggiefamily181 That just means you're a certified watch collector... the wives know!
Hey Bill, great video. You really can’t go wrong with A JLC. I think the av Jo doesn’t see the value partly due to depreciation. Lucky we know depreciation is the savvy buyers best friend. All the best, Ed
Good grief, Ed, if people want to 'invest,' they should head for the Stock Market. If they want to collect watches, they should learn about horology. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci I agree but av Jo has heard Rolex are good (true) and they don’t depreciate (only true for a few models) so they make an association. We enthusiasts are the few not the masses.
Hi Bill. Something went wrong with the video part of the intro. Also I like the Gyrolab Balance because it also looks like JLC's logo
Hi Rasmus, I'm using Beta software-Adobe has me as a Beta tester, and while I'm not supposed to use Beta software, I do it because there's no better way to find any bugs. Take care, Bill
G'evening Bill 🙃 . Everyone knows that some of the best world timers available from a god tier watchmaker come from Casio 😋 . I have 15 or 20 myself and 3 or 4 of them are World timers 🤥🤣 . Also the Orient world Diver is a GMT with 2 crowns, 1 button & an inner rotating bezel w/ the cities of the world around the outside of the dial. You should really check it out, I love mine 🤓 ..
Indeed they do Idletime. Quartz and Smart phones are more accurate ... but where's the fun I that? Take care, Bill
