Bought the They Come Out At Night 8-track my freshmen HS year in 74. All these years later I had a sudden recollection of this song. I couldn't remember who performed it but had a vague memory of when I had it. I had to sit down and remember what I bought at that time. Finally figured it out today. Took me a couple of weeks though. Thanks for posting it.

A really good instrumental! Sounds like a fusion between Motorhead (that Lemmy type of bass line!) sound and Post-Punk, which surprisingly, works here quite well. I would even say, it's one of my favourite Pretenders songs!

This soulful tune drives home the pint that vivid fantasy always exceeds mundane reality, that fantasy lovers are always there, always care, and never disagree. The concluding lyric of this song is delivered with a discordant, haunting, plaintive vocal which lodges in the listener's ear: "I have to imagine. Nobody loves me this time." This is a profound piece of music.
