What makes Ryan great is many things. He obviously has elite athletic abilities. Yes he’s on PEDs but so is everyone else at the top. Most guys who use PEDs look like average joes not jacked bodybuilders. Second is his work ethic. He literally trains harder than anyone else. Third is his brain. He has high level understanding in BJJ and combat sports as well as his obsession with getting better. If he applies his obsession and physical abilities into training striking he would do just as good with time. He’s so good at BJJ that he could completely stop grappling for 2 years and only train standup. He would have to come off gear though but many old UFC start went through this and still did well. So the answer is yes. To be an elite UFC fighter you really only need to be extremely good at 1 area and ok at the rest. He has the potential to be good at standup and elite on the ground

One of his biggest challenges with his switch to mma would be having to NOT use PEDs anymore. Or whatever cycle he can get away with. He could be a Damian Maia type. Not gonna get through a good striker with takedown defense/ground game.

@@datt5698 Yeah, I'm interested in how he handles the lack of blatant PED usage. Granted, I guarantee everyone in every combat sport (at the top) uses PEDs, but it's a matter of using bioidentical hormones like EPO, test, and HGH, while keeping them all at the top of the reference range without flagging any tests. We'll see how it goes.

The transitions are smoother than a BJJ black belt's rolling technique, and the vocabulary range is wider than a full guard stretch. While the information is vast and impressive, it has that unmistakable GPT flavor. Great effort though; 10/10 for innovation.
