Max-Planck-Institute for Plasmaphysics
The research conducted at Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik (IPP) in Garching and Greifswald is concerned with investigating the physical basis of a fusion power plant. Like the sun, such a plant is to generate energy from fusion of atomic nuclei. This requires that the fuel, an ionised low-density hydrogen gas called plasma, has to be confined in a magnetic field cage and heated to ignition temperatures of over 100 million degrees. With its workforce of approx. 1,100 IPP is one of the largest fusion research centres in Europe.

It's known to exist in nature as well. But how to explain this phenomenon?
It doesn't exist in nature
@@forloop7713 , this is a too easy statement: in nature ball lightning does exist! It's a rare and unexplained phenomenon according to Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_lightning ).
@@ceesvandermarel5586 if it did exist we would already have reliable witness accounts from multiple independent witnesses. Yet this has never happaned. Neither do we have video footage from a reliable source

Auf ein weiteres Jahr mit Spannenden Kernfusionsentdeckungen!
You say soon pozitrons are going to be injected yet we don't see it, so, really lame.
Can't wait to see plasma again! Gooo upgrade team 👏👏👏

The sexiest machines mankind ever built
If we want to create our own artificial sun we have to find the origin of gravity in quantum scale therefore we will not need the use coils to compress the charged gas
No? Says who? A unified theory of gravity and quantum physics would be nice and all, but current knowledge clearly is enough to make nuclear fusion work.
how is it superconducting?
The ring consists of high-temperature superconducting windings - there are 132 of them. Induction causes a current to flow loss-free in the ring (which has also been cooled to minus 250 degrees Celsius), and this in turn generates a magnetic field in dipole form. read the whole story here: www.ipp.mpg.de/5379974/Levitated_Dipole_apex

I cannot even begin to imagine the necessary materials required to sustain these incredibly astronomical temperatures... I would think the materials needed for these components to be otherworldly in origin and nature. Anything that can support or withstand 100 million degrees Celsius, sounds quite extraterrestrial in the least.
Where did the motivation and wherewithal necessary to design such a state-of-the-art device originate?
How exactly did these two Russian scientists responsible for the design and proliferation of the Tokamak & stellarator blueprint even fathom such devices?

This must have been a nightmare to build. No part looks the same.
🤔💨 Spraying or insulating some salt?… 🤔🔋 Centrifugal forces, horn torus and plasma temperature?…
Titen vs. Video Was jetzt Argon oder Helium?
Deuterium-Plasmen welche man untersuchen will.
China wird sich schon drum kümmern
Könntet ihr bitte erklären was da genau passiert und wofür?
Hier könnt Ihr noch mehr Informationen bekommen: www.ipp.mpg.de/5334385/02_23
No clue what's happening, but it is cool as fuck

looks pretty stable, as a rock. congratulations
Congratulation to Drs. Guenter, Wolf, Klinger! Look forward seeing weeks of operation.😊
LETS GOOOO
1.3 GJ ??? ?
What am I looking at?
The video was taken with an infrared camera inside the vacuum vessel of Wendelstein 7-X. It does NOT show the plasma itself, but the temperature distribution at the water-cooled divertor baffles
WeIl, they got 'er going, burning (for awhiIe). Not much to Iook at, reaIly. BIink, you'll miss it. StIl, consequentiaI.
Sehr gut.
Is that some sort of force field being generated around the plasma stream?
Magnetic field i think
It no field but the temperature distribution at the divertor wall
Incredible. So.much achieved in the last decade!
Question. Is nuclear fusion happening during those 8 minutes?
No fusion was set in motion and that was not the objective. The research facility Wendelstein 7-X has the mission to generate a plasma from hydrogen and to heat it up strongly, and to do so as permanently as possible. This is not a (fusion) fuel, because Wendelstein 7-X is not designed as a power plant but as a smaller preliminary experiment. Translated with www.
Congratulations!
I love it when a plan comes together.
Stark!
The future has arrived
Gute Arbeit - weiter so!
Wow! Die Zukunft kommt.
Gratuliere! :-)
Grossartig!
