They were using a prop door at first - but Jack Nicholson was a trained firefighter. They had to use a real door. He went through the prop door like a hot knife through butter.
Alec is exactly right. Critics aren’t Ghosbusters fans and they might legitimately not enjoy any particular movie, including a GB movie. You can’t get upset or take it personally every time someone doesn’t like something you like, and it’s *really* unhealthy to get conspiratorial about it. We all want Frozen Empire to do well to get more movies, but it’s best to ignore critics and focus on how much *you* enjoyed it. Ultimately, it’ll do as well as it does at the box office and it’ll be up to the studio, cast and crew if they want to make more.

@@ghostbusterscollector8593 That’s more than fair. Films ultimately get the reaction they deserve. All I can say is that I was honestly a bit bored on my first viewing. I was waiting for that “new ice age” the trailer mentioned. Garaka didn’t show up until the last 20 minutes or so, and I was *incredibly* bored of the whole “I’m shutting the Ghostbusters down” plot point that happens in literally every movie. However, on second viewing (which is honestly more than any film deserves!) the weight of expectation lifted and I enjoyed it more. You may like it more as a fan if you give it another shot. Or maybe not. Either way, reasonable people can have varying opinions. We’ll always have the originals and the fandom! Bustin’ will always make us feel good.

@@pano3607 Yeah, Garraka appeared far too late into the film. New York should have frozen over at the end of the first act - at around the 25 minute mark. From there on the Ghostbusters would have to brave the elements while taking calls and trying to solve the ice age problem and eventually defeat Garraka. That's how it should have played out.

Nice to hear your thoughts! Good points made. Never noticed that Dana easter egg... pretty cool. Also, great point regarding the three OG's crossing the streams again at the end of Afterlife, which made no damn sense. Ugh, stuff like that bugs the hell out of me lol because it's out of character. When it comes to GB Frozen Empire, I think there are critics who are out to get certain films, and critics who actually have a point. Frozen Empire is a case of both. After one viewing of Frozen Empire, I left disappointed... rating it a 6/10, but yet seemed to like it more, based on my memory of it. There were definite editing and continuity issues in the film, a pinch too much silly stuff that felt too aimed at children, some wasted time on side plots that didn't entirely work, and an overall feeling that the film didn't quite live up to it's potential (Slightly misleading marketing etc). I won't go further into the details, because we've all heard what fans liked and didn't like. However, I have a feeling this film will age quite well. The OG's were all great as usual, and had some wonderful moments together, especially during the finale. The new lab was amazing and ingenious. While some of the comedy didn't land, there were a few great lines here and there, such as "Inside this grandfather clock is the ghost of a real grandfather", "I go back to Queens, you go back to Narnia", "Tall dark and horny at twelve O'Clock", "Spindoctor CD possessed", "Just do it, we trust you!!", etc. Also, the opening scene followed by the Ecto chase was pretty good, we got the amazing new drone trap, epic set design with the firehouse, a brand new and pretty interesting villain in Garraka, even if he could have had more screen time, and I loved all of the aerial views of NYC and so on. My main hope is that SONY really listens to the fans and releases a director's cut with less editing and continuity issues, with deleted scenes and the works. This film really needed one more busting scene in the middle of the film, when we see Trevor, Gary and Callie leave in the Ecto. I'm not someone who needs constant ghostbusting, but only having two scenes was kind of a letdown. Even in the first two films, which had minimal busting, we still had montage scenes, which helped add more. I also think that Melody's ghost should have been a grandfather ghost, similar to Egon, who Phoebe assumes is him at first, when the chess piece moves, and that she feels comforted by him because he reminds her of her grandfather. Then when the twist comes, it's even more powerful, and poignant. Having it be a teenager ghost was lame IMO, and the FX was a little bland to me. Should have been a father/grandfather figure ghost. For the next film, I agree with many that it should have new characters having their own rival busting company, that the Spengler family has to compete with, along with the OG's still being present (Some disagree, but Ernie, Dan and Bill are legends and ARE needed) and getting to have their own side busting sequence, maybe at an old folk's home to add dry comedy. The new side rival team and the Spengler's can decide to come together mid point, when a new threat appears... a family of ghost this time, mother, father and child, perhaps hailing from the UK, coming to America to locate one of their kin. New jumpsuits for the OG's too. I want Ray, Winston and Peter in a light gray jumpsuit with glow in the dark no ghost logo patches, detachable helmets and different lighter weight tech, though Winston and Pete can still have the main pack. Give us a sequence under water, something new, and add some of Dan's Hellbent ideas in, such as them going into a new realm/reality. Give the rival team a cool futuristic vehicle, that we find out is owned by Winston's company, to which he later confiscates it and tells them they're messing with the wrong people. All practical ghost FX etc. Apologies for my essay!

It wasn’t worth it for the Hasbro wand. We did build a throwing chicken v4 with the twist and pop mech so that’s a really excellent build.

IIRC, the OG "barrel twist" thing was due to Ray's prop having a faulty barrel that just kinda... caused it to release the emitter tube bit from time to time, and wasn't exactly a "canon" thing? Tho I could be wrong, so, take that with a grain of salt, especially since the idea of the barrel-twist release is actually pretty badass, regardless of if it was intended or not.

IMDB shows that the runtime for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is 2 hours and 5 minutes. I'm not surprised, considering the sheer number of characters that are in it. I was worried that it would be much longer.

IMDB shows that the runtime for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is 2 hours and 5 minutes. I'm not surprised, considering the sheer number of characters that are in it. I was worried that it would be much longer.
It’s showing a bit shorter now 1 hour and 55 minutes on theater websites and if you don’t count about 10-15 minutes for credits then you have a pretty manageable run time.
