Hello Rob, great idea Double Features, Evergreen, by Barbara & Lucy, did you know Lucy is a great lover of Barbara Streisand, & when Lucy does one of her songs she tries to make it as good as Barbaras & she does becauase Lucy has such an amazing voice in her own right, take care, Barbara.
Not the best comparison to make,BS was live,Lucy's was a studio recording,though in saying that Lucy would sound just as good live as we have witnessed from her Manchester concert!,as for the final note Babs didn't hold the note,Lucy held it for around 14 seconds!,i have heard Barbara Steisand's studio version,& as far as i'm concerned Lucy outsings her,though she does that every time she releases a new recording!,she is a very special vocalist!.😊
Sorry to say this but i actually hate these comparisons,what exactly is the point of them, two different singers at two different times and as an aside Lucys version in my opinion is the best.

I'm glad Lucy sings this and have no interest in comparing them. It's a classic and artists like Lucy are keeping such music alive. No complaints here.

The studio version of Lucys Hallelujah is the song that drew me into Lucys world of music, and it still gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. The live version had the benefit of Lucy continuing to push herself and not rest on her laurels. Also, there's the atmosphere of a live audience who want to see her soar, and Lucy was thriving in that environment, and she responded with an outstanding performance. That I think is better than the studio version, which as I said earlier still gives me goosebumps.

In my opinion, the clip that you showed of Barbra was not near as good as her performance of the song in the movie. In the clip you showed, she monkeyed around with the song way to much and therefore decreased the quality of the performance. I liked Lucy's version of the song better than Barbra's version from the movie and I definitely liked Lucy's version better than Barbra's version in the clip you showed.
These jackasses do this to stir up controversy and divide people, I doubt this jackass could tell the 2 singers apart!!!
But you didn't react to the original... why didn't you take the live rehearsal video of Barbra's version right from the movie... that's the OG. There's even a story to it... the scene was originally shot as a rehearsal, but after just one take, it was so perfect that they decided to put it into the movie as an actual scene. It is exquisite and should be viewed by your listeners, not one that was done 33 years later in a small venue with a string quartet. As Barbra mentioned, she co-wrote the song and won an Oscar and a Grammy for it. History of songs and the legendary performers who sing them is so delicious, and should not be taken for granted or overlooked. Having said all this... this special performance at the Village Vsnguard in front of only 100 people, was outstanding... and 33 years later, Barbra's voice is still rich and beautiful. Nice job overall.

When Barbara sang this , she was not young anymore and nor unexperienced. This was the result of a full life show business experience...Lucy has not such experience but she killed the song too. About her new release: unchained melody...a must see

Geoff's voice isn't that powerful, just very low and smooth. The most powerful voice is in fact Omar's. Geoff says you have to hear him live to appreciate the power in his voice. He's the baby faced one. :)
