  Fantastic and underrated music theme by Djawadi. I can see why Mark Strong was rumored to be the first choice to play Stannis given that image at 1:45. Not to takeaway from Stephen Dillane’s great performance…. Just saying maybe Mark Strong could have been perfect. Though D&D’s writing led to an underwhelming conclusion for Stannis in the series regardless of acting. I like part of the idea with obvious parallels to world history. It was just executed flat in season 5.

  I honestly don't understand all the people who wanted stannis to be king ..he was a great warrior but renly was right great warriors don't necessarily make good kings ..stannis was an idiot when it came to politics. No one took him seriously..tywin was more worried about robb stark a child..then stannis ..just keeping it real lol

  Pfft, such a typical show-only clueless person's take. "I have felt from the beginning that Stannis was a greater danger than all the others combined" - Tywin Lannister, A Game of Thrones novel "The war is not over so long as Stannis lives" - "Jaime", in that worthless TV show fanfic You have 0 knowledge of these characters and world, just like every other showpleb. Even less about Stannis. Stannis is the most feared contender in the war. If you didn't speedwatch the whole thing you'd know that. Even more in the books, he's constantly hyped up and feared by every character. Even Roose Bolton's eyes express fear when it seems Stannis has the advantage. Even Daenerys in the books sees him as a threat. And Stannis can deal with politics just fine. He was the Master of Ships in the small council in BOTH books and shows, and helped Jon Arryn to rule in Robert's behalf, while Robert and Renly did nothing. And no, I don't take "diz iz show not buks" as an argument. Just ignore this, and move on, if you don't have anything to add. Since you say "I don't understand all the people blah blah", my answer is simply that people take the canon Stannis written by Martin in greater value then whatever D&D tried to sell you. People who didn't read the books like you, instead gladly bought whatever nonsense the poorly-written fanfiction gave you. You took all the show's lies without question, despite the fact that Stannis is still objectively MORE intelligent than all the other characters in the show, except Tywin. D&D CANNOT write characters as intelligent, because they can't understand intelligence themselves. You can't act like Stannis was an "idiot", when you have all the characters in the show being nothing but political idiots for the show. Even Robb in the show is terrible at politics, unlike his book counterpart who's bad at it anyway. I don't know why you allowed D&D's poor writing brainwash you. To judge Stannis correctly, you need the books. Besides, it's not like you could do a better job yourself.

  The Stannis fanbase comes from the ASOIAF novels, yes. But I saw some show-only fans of Stannis. Problem is, you have a better time as a Stannis supporter reading the books, since the show poorly portrays him.
