Thank you for your videos. I love this blanket. Being a visual learner reminds me when I used to sit next to my grandmother and watch her and she taught me the basics in crochet but I had never learned to read a pattern and came across your KZread tutorials and since I’ve made so many baby blankets and different patterns. Love your patterns and tutorials. Thank you again. Merci.

I love this blanket. I did figure out the repeat. You said the original pattern called for 139 chains. Then you said to skip 3 chains and start in number 4 (which counts as the first dc). There are 15 chains in each wave, the last stitch is a dc in the last chain. So, the pattern multiples of 15 plus 4. The 139 makes 9 waves or 42 inches so if each wave is 4.6 inches and you want a 36 inch blanket you should start with 15 x 8 + 4. That is assuming you use the same hook size. I’m a little excessive in planning, so if I have given too much info please forgive me for over stepping.

How did I miss this tutorial of yours? That HDC slip stitch is going to be difficult for me to do but if I want my stitches to be pretty, I will do it. I guess I know what I will be making as gifts this coming Winter season. So glad I found this tutorial of yours. I have soooo much yarn and this pattern will be a great stash busting project for me. I will practice on this soon. Thank you for sharing this with us.

This is genius! It’s now at the top of the list of my favorite stitch patterns! Thank you so much, it looks beautiful with every yarn type and size I’ve tried. I tried with a very thick yarn and substituted the extended dbl crochet so it had some drape. Looks exactly how it’s supposed to still. I am hoping a cardigan or pullover sweater pattern is created with this stitch pattern!!!

I've made a similar desing for my soon to be born cousin and added a straight boader to my family's request, now I'm dying on when or where to put pops of color because I can't unsee the squares as the ABC wood cubes 😂

Love your eye for color, Tiffany! I actually tried this pattern years ago, and I was a bit sad to discover a few of the Red Heart SS colors had been discontinued because I absolutely loved the beachy color palette! Anyway, I thought I'd try to explain the pattern multiple because actually, the pattern DOES tell you the multiple - It tells you there are 9 waves. So take the 139 divided by 9 waves = 15.45 - So multiples of 15 for each of the 9 waves = 135. Then you need 4 additional chains - 3 additional chains are needed to count as the beginning double crochet of the row and then 1 additional chain is needed for the last double crochet of the row. So take the multiple of 15 for any size blanket, then add 4. I hope that makes sense! You can also count between the * repeats * for the multiple, but you'd still have to account for the first and last stitch of the setup row.

Undoing the unnecessary or uneven chains was one of the first things I was taught waaay back when. It was a “cheat” that I’ve used a million times just because my oldest son is a big boy. He’s around 6’3 and about 240 lbs so I make his blankets/wearables pretty big..😊which means the standard throw blanket size doesn’t exactly work for him. The 40x60 is like towel size for him 🤣🤣. Great, great advice!
