    Traditionally the motor shaft with the commutator (the bit you cleaned with the little wire brush) can be be removed completely. Then placed in a lathe and the ridges gently turned down, we are only talking about 0.2mm. The brushes can usually easily take up the extra space. From your video the blackness of the copper commutator is usually because of faulty or worn brushes that are arcing to the commutator rather than smoothing running round it.

    @ChrisBrown-ux8jn we are having similar issues here now, the Mercedes’ dealers aren’t really supporting them since 2018. You can still get parts but prices are going up and so are delivery times. I’m sure the parts will start drying up soon too.

    Would you happen to know what would cause driver side turn signal bulb(Top Orange) and little light on driver side( next to door) to not stay on when I turn headlights on. They blink but won’t stay on, but both lights on passenger side turn signals stay on but won’t blink. This issue is driving me nuts. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. 🙏

  • @PBGarage
    @PBGarage13 күн бұрын

    I’m not certain but I think the turn signal relay may be a part of the hazard light switch assembly, could try swapping that out. I’d check wiring for obvious faults first and fuses. Then swap the hazard switch for a junkyard one. Last thing could be a fault in the SAM but that would be a pain to fix.

  • @kingjamokrates2560
    @kingjamokrates256013 күн бұрын

    @@PBGarage So apparently the turn signal lights should not stay on at all times and the side that turns off is the side that the turn signal works. So I think it may be a relay issue and the passenger side is stuck in the "ON" position. At least I hope so. Thanks for your help, you are appreciated!

    I definitely have water intrusion problems (had to repair the wires under the carpet) but I have a drain on the battery somewhere. I’m thinking it might be this module, but the marker lights don’t stay on like you said. However, with the car off and keys out if I hit the turn signal the turn signal light will come on and stay on. Think it’s probably a bad module?

  • @PBGarage

    No I don't think it's this module, but I could be wrong. Most VAG vehicles do that when the car is off and you leave the turn singal on. All my audis have a constant beeeeeeeep if I leave a turn signal on. Porsche is an audi which is a VW.

    Yes you would have a belt driven motor. Lots of people dont know what their engine actually has/use the term interchangeable to simply describe the timing components. • @PBGarage

    That’s the aluminum stern power ring if I’m not mistaken, but to install it you cut those nubs off and it completely fills the void, which transfers NVH almost like a solid mount. I haven’t driven with one but some reviews I read online describe NVH similar to a poly mount. If you remember, once you get your conversion going please let me know how the mount feels!

  • @elev8j10
    @elev8j10Ай бұрын

    @PBGarage I can do that. Everyone's setup seems to be different. I think the awe drivetrain stabilizer seemed to help with the driveline tightness back there. Don't know if they make those anymore. I just wonder how much the trans is moving vs rear diff shifting and knocking in those cases. Bit of a domino effect maybe.

  • @PBGarage
    @PBGarageАй бұрын

    I picked up my AWE DTS in 2021 new, but haven’t checked availability since then. I have the rubber mount for it. I ran the poly mount and I didn’t like the NVH. But yeah, everyone has a slightly different setup, so lots of variables at play!

    Awesome to see the update!!! Your car is sooo clean … mine has been sitting in the garage due to an electrical issue I’ve yet to solve :-(. I’m no good with wiring.

    Thanks! It was / is a lot of work to keep it clean, but it's my life's pride and joy so I have no issues putting the effort in.
