It's a interesting visual demo but not the least bit surprising it went through. Modern ballistic armor is designed to stop a very particular kind of threat and physics behind it. With soft IIIA body armor, the threat is going to be a dense but highly deformable bullet moving at just under to modestly over the speed of sound. Those woven aramid fibers or more recently, the unidirectional fibers in a UHMWPE laminate, just have to break that bullet's stride long enough for it to mushroom and disperse its energy over a larger area then stopped easily by the deeper layers of the material. A steel tip arrow or other stabbing type instrument can easily open up that weave and push right through. It seems kind of counterintuitive that a medieval weapon can defeat modern armor but it's just a very different kind of ballistic threat. It's not really even a deficiency of modern armor given that armies don't have bowmen anymore and probably next to no crimes are committed with arrows, at least not in a country like ours which is awash in firearms.

@archeryVET it was fun. the shots were longer. There was only one target that was really hard to see. A dark clored lynx at 75 yards through grass in the shadow of a tree. The moose at 105 yards was awesome. The caribou at 144 yards had every group letting it fly. The toughest part was getting to the other chairlift.

That’s awesome. Some of the targets I had to check and recheck because they were so difficult to see in the shadows.

@timgruver593214 күн бұрын
👍👍 beautiful day there for a change. When we do the hunting shot score game 8’s are plus 1 and 10’s are plus 2. 5’s are minus 2. A little more involved but tends to make you really work on making better shots. And to help keep it more realistic no shots past 50 yards max in the scoring game. We will still shoot the longer ridiculous 70-80-90 plus fun shots anyway.

I have a Hoyt kytera my grandson was 2 when my husband had me draw bow back with arrow in it to mark drawlength as i let it down my gs grabbed bottom cam so cable went over his fingers and came off the bow. Thankfully his fingers were ok mainly because I was letting bow down not shooting. Then after that it has been dry fired twice 🤦. This bow is still going strong to this day. HOYTS one hell of a bow. And imo the best for finger shooters like myself no finger pinch.

When I am getting my elevation marks ( & windage) I prefer using a horizontal line that is level. A 1” wide line is very visible to 100 yards easily. I feel I get so much better feedback than shooting at circles or dots. Same concept on windage. I dont make an + on the same target as you will naturally concentrate on the center and not just the line. Just saying it’s a great way to get very accurate marks. So many use like large dot. This can be misleading as in the dot may be 2” off center at say 20 which puts it off several inches at 40. Dots, IMO, aren’t good enough. 👍👍
@archeryVET18 күн бұрын
I completely agree. When I first got the SE sight with the horizontal lines and the bonus pin I really didn't like how target the pins are on that sight. I had to switch to the Hunter sight with the vertical pins but at .010. I just got back from TAC Vermont and was shooting for the truck at 111 yards and that made a big difference shooting long distance.

From what I understand, with the onnex hinge the safety allows the head to pivot without firing but the moon and sear stay in the same location. So if you anchor different or have the release rotated back further when you release the safety you could potentially fire the release or be past the click depending how much the release is rotated from the home position. If any of that makes sense through text lol.
