Brings back memories when I was very young, watching either Pac-10 or Big 8 (now Big 12) Basketball on Home Team Sports (In the mid-Atlantic) and when WCTI-12 (ABC in New Bern/Greenville, NC) and WRAL-5 (then-CBS affiliate of Raleigh/Durham, NC) would air the Tournament of Champions in Charlotte

I miss the Metro Conference a lot. I wish the league wasn't so depleted when USF joined for its last few years.

This is the best NCAA College Basketball theme CBS has used.

IIRC, it was first used for the 1987 NCAA Tournament. They used the older theme for the 1986-87 regular season. I also like the one prior to this, with the ball rolling around the rim. Always got me pumped up for college basketball

It does bring back good memories. They should still use this. I think they still use a version of the old college football intro, plus CBS has been using the same college basketball intro for a while, so they can't be that concerned with it getting dated. The old theme is better.

The 1992 Final Four game was the last to use this theme.

Technically not true, the Indiana/Kentucky game that aired opposite the Bills comeback over the Oilers had it.

It could have been 1989 as the Midwest regional was played in Minneapolis that year. And of course the other choicer is right as the 1992 Final Four was played at the Metrodome as well

This theme reminds me of the "swan song" years of the Southwest Conference...after the infamous Death Penalty (and the corruption of the conference in general) killed it. Definitely brings back old memories...when UT, A&M, Tech, Baylor, UH, Rice, SMU and TCU were all under one roof (Arkansas found the pain of the conference's fall too unbearable to tolerate and bailed out early).

The Metro conference .. boy, that's a trip back in the time machine.. I remember South Carolina was actually a member at one time, becuase it gave them a conference affilation that didn't tie up their then independent football status..

Man, this brings back memories. Always loved the jazziness of the music! When I first heard this in '93, I was 7 years old and was in Chicago visiting my relatives, but for some reason, the Raycom Sports jingle always stayed with me. You don't hear many sports intro jingles like this one today! Today most jingles seem to sound all serious and stuff, IMO. Man, how I miss the 90's. Thanks for uploading this!
