Leere deinen Geist.

The rematch of Clay - Liston was in Lewiston, Maine. In the week leading up to the fight, the boxers training sessions were open to about 50 spectators. They were free, but you still had to have a ticket. Since my father worked security at the Lewiston Arena, (that's what it was called at the time),, for local hockey games, and certain events there, he got 3 tickets. He took me and my brother to the Auburn Armory to watch Clay(Ali) jump rope, shadow box, and throw a medicine ball around. I was 6 years old, and didn't know much about what was going on, but I can still close my eyes and see it. My father was at the fight, I was home listening to the radio. One of the most iconic sports images of all time was taken that night.
Ali really was light on his feet, which makes it difficult to land punches on an opponent who dances around like he did, and than he'd move in chain lightening fast with those punches, and thus why the saying: "Fly like a butterfly, sting like a Bee," which was Ali.
I remember this fight as newsreel before feature movie was played in the theatre in Taipei, Taiwan!!!
Ali could slip
If you have seen Ali's bouts before this one....he was of course very good already, yet against Liston he simply stepped up the level , seemingly effortlessly. Unique combination of talent, skills, strength, intelligence and willpower.

never understood the Ali hype. He was too easy to hit.
Obviously a great fighter for his time and a great of the sport but people who say he would beat the elite post 90s heavyweights I think are foolish. He would lose pretty easily.
World Champions aren't that easy to hit or else they wouldn't be Champions, but I don't think Ali could withstand the punches by figters like Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, but Ali was a great boxer regardless and so wasn't Sonny Liston, Rocky Marciano, George Foreman and a few others, but none of them could step into a UFC ring and win.
Ali el mas gtande por siempre
Todavia recuerdo como si fuere ayer este combate tan difundido y publicitado.
Sonny was in for a big surprise 😢
Ja sam tada imao 8 godina. Imali smo crno beli televizor tek godinu dana.
Ali was a boxing machine with the reflexes of a cat! Probably the best boxer ever!
Sony Liston I believe was the best boxer Ali ever faced!
Cashus clay was beaten down by smoking Joe and cashus was in his prime. Rip Mr Joe
Oh no the infamous fathom punch again
So ice not to see Don Kings hair in the ring.
Youth and vigor overcame age and treachery.
Liston’s shoulder was definitely injured. The doctors verified that after the fight, in fact, he injured it in training for the fight. But he hadn’t trained hard for this fight, he never thought it royals go past the third round.
Ali was hard on punches. This was a great fight. Ali was a little bit too much.
What a fight 👿 . They were going at it.
Real sportsmen.
I really think Ali was white. U know I think Mike thought he was.
Where's Howard?
They fought after the bell because you’re supposed to “obey the ref’s commands,” but “protect yourself at all times.” If he doesn’t step in, the fight keeps going.
All important to who nobody I knew
The guy in the back typing with a cigarette lololol
Racist commentator called him a BOY
“Was There Really Something On Sonny Liston’s Gloves?”

Somebody took a pay off
How about Ingemar Johansson and Floyd Patterson?
Those were the Great Old dàys!!!😊
I hate the way the commentator thought that he could script what , when and to whom Ali would speak . He obviously couldn't. He must've hated that
Referee ...What a Banker !!¬!!¬
I was in high school when this fight happened.
Where did "rope a dope" come from?
In the Ali/Foreman fight, he came up with it in sparring. To learn more, watching "modern martial artist rope a dope" on KZread will help ya
I remember listening to this fight on the radio. i was happy that Clay beat Liston. I hated Liston because he beat Floyd Paterson, who I thought was a great champion. I think this was the last night he was Cassius Clay. The next morming he was Muhammad Ali, after hanging out with Malcolm X after the fight.
Not sure why I fell in love with boxing at a very young age. Have loved to box, (neighborhood boys, Mom wouldn't allow me to fight girls) and cousins all my life. I know if I were born a boy, I would have boxed as a sport til I got too old😂 A senior citizen now, when no one is around, I still dance around and shadow box😊 Thanks for sharing this awesome fight! First time I've saw it and sure I'll watch again!...after I watch the second match between them 😊
Look at the guy behind him using a typewriter. Kids nowadays "What's a typewriter?"😅
O T ahoe taoe
El tahoe ta oe
Ali was really fast he used the hole ring
To bad Sonny would have won the fight Ali hit him with a fantom punch
That's an excuse, how the hell do u know he would've won? We don't know, but if u watch that punch closely u can see it was a bit powerful. Send a shockwave through Liston who was coming IN to the punch
He had almost as many hangers-on as Elvis did.
With duecrespect, i think a 22 y Mike Tyson would have taken out the 22 y Clay. There never was a lightingfast powerbomb like Iron Mike. He is my number 1 ever. He will dismantle that you tube joker even at his advanced age.
There's no way in hell he would, at 22 Ali was unbeatable by any heavyweight & would've made Frazier, Norton & Foreman look even stupider. Tyson was good but pretty one dimensional, jab, get inside, unleash fast N strong combinations & counterpunches. Ali quite literally would've just sticked & moved on Tyson, Tyson wouldn't be able to handle that Speed, Footwork & Head Movement
You can tell the guy interviewing at the end was bias towards Sonny. He wouldn't even let Ali speak at the end and automatically wanted a rematch right after the match ended
Never saw this fight. Spectacular.
This should be titled Sonny Liston vs. Cassius Clay. Please show respect to the champion.
Clay's mouth brought a measure of shame to boxing as this turned fights into carnival shows. I remember well those years when he first gained fame. Few people today realize the negatives that were introduced back then. Clay was extraordinaily talented in the ring, but his mouth and antics disappointed many of us back then.
