    Love the frame shape, the colour not so much, hate the one-piece bar-stem and the prorietary seat post. Apppreciate not slamming the stem. "Pale tan wall" tires ruin every bike's look and the oversized yellow derailleur pulleys are nothing but childish. And Cadex is a sub brand of Giant, same as Bontrager is to Trek and Syncros to Scott, so why put them on a Wilier when there are so many other cool choices?

    Great video! How did you decide on your size? What is your head circumference? Mine is 59,5cm and I’m a bit unsure which size to get. Any help would be appreciated!

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods29 күн бұрын

    I'm 59 and L is my choice. I've tried all Giro helmets and only Helios in size M fit comfortably but since my head is too big for it I will not be able to use a cap or hat when it's cold. So L is my size (and not only in the Giro lineup but from all other brands too). And the problem here is that they look a bit "mushroom head" because 59 is the smallest head for L )) So the deal breaker for me was design and I chose Aries because it is the only one in size L that looks OK. Btw Met helmets have different size charts - it's shifted a little bit. The design is not to my taste but it is worth checking if you have it in stores around you.

    Maybe i got lucky here to get the answer i am looking. I am a mountainbike rider since many many years and i enjoyed the last 2 seasons. but i see more and more people with gravel bikes, so it got my interest. I am reading and googling for over 6 month now and i cant decide which giant revolt i am going to buy. I am most driving on asphalt roads and i am more into making kilometers. After all i cant believe i made a trip of 247 km on one day back in 2022 with my mountainbike at nearly 38° Celcius that day. But since i reached my 50th i want to have something more comfortable where i still can make my kilometers but with a gravel bike. What kind of revolt would you guys recommend to me? I thought i should start with the revolt 0 but you read so many revies and test and at the end of the day you are more and more confused. I just dont want to spend thousands of euros to find out this isnt the bike for me. But i want to buy one without testing it, because it will confuse me more. So i am looking between 1500-2000 euro. What do you guys recommend to me? it should be a giant revolt. thank you

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods3 ай бұрын

    Go for Revolt 0, it's such a versatile and durable bike. And did you ever try to ride a gravel bike or road bike? They are much different from MTB in terms of geometry and steering, you should ride (any bike of your size just to get the idea).

  • @Lomaxxx
    @Lomaxxx3 ай бұрын

    @@dustyhoods Thanks for the info. Nope, i never tried a gravel bike. But i can tell you that i used MTB for years now and never used it to jump, ride through mud, dirt up- or downhill. 99% of the time i used it to just made my kilometers and enjoying the ride. It started slowly for me, when i did trips around the 40-50 kilometer mark and i started more and more to make them longer. But sometimes it was hard i'll be honest and i found myself more and more looking for upgrades to make the biker lighter, faster and so on. I then started to take a look to gravel bikes. I know myself and at this point i have to buy myself a gravel without trying it. Otherwise i will always compare this to that and this to that. I am that kind of buy :-/ I need to spend the money to start with it 😂 I really like the white version in your video. Do you think i need to buy the actual 2024 model or is it ok to get the white version? The look is important for me too tbh and i will just enjoy my rides and i have no intension to be a super biker. first of all i will enjoy and feel myself comfortable on my trips. thank you

    @@Lomaxxx you can get a previous years model with discount. If it will be 11 speed grx it's even better in my opinion since with 11 speed components you get a choice of a wide range of cassettes and chains with the same performance, durability but lower prices compared to 12 speed.

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods3 ай бұрын

    First of all prices are very different and there are second hand or past years models. Sometimes you can get Advanced 3 2021/2022 for the same price as latest Revolt 0 2024. Considering that upgrading groupset is cheaper than frameset I would go for Advanced 3. If you want the latest 2024 only (obviously you have a wider choice of sizes and color) then Revolt 0 looks more attractive - solid and durable frameset with top level groupset (better shifting and better cassettes and chains options available, even 1x setup will work fine).

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods3 ай бұрын

    In both cases alu or carbon I highly recommend upgrading the seatpost to carbon D-Fuse, any carbon dropbars and wider tires. This will make a much bigger difference to your riding comfort. Even bigger than switching frameset alu to carbon.

    @@dustyhoods this is great thanks - it is exactly the situation I’ve got right now. The revolt 0 is €1800 while the advanced 3 2022/23 is €1600. How does this bike compare to the Giant 0? Which one would you recommend for a beginner?

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods3 ай бұрын

    The most gains in comfort you get from contact points of you and your bike - seat/seatpost, handlebars, pedals/shoes, and tires (super important). And these parts are basic level on all models in stock (except top spec). As a first bike I highly recommend aluminum version with 2*11 groupset. Plus upgrading D-Fuse seatpost to carbon version (you will be amazed by how flexible is carbon D-Fuse vs alu), and any carbon dropbars you like, and wider tires (40mm to 50mm, start with 43-45 to try). As a result, for around the same price, you'll get much more comfortable and durable bike than Advanced model with basic stock components. The only difference will be the weight of frameset but it's 300-400 grams different.

  • @vilavg3657
    @vilavg36573 ай бұрын

    Great video ! Is this a similar spec as the 2023/2024 Revolt 0 model? Is it comfortable ride? I’m trying to avoid a very racing like position

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods3 ай бұрын

    Yes, the specs for 2023/24 are similar it's 2*11 speed. The frames are more advanced now - with flip chip, lower bb and more mounting points on the frame. The position is adjustable anyways and it's not that racing like compared to CX bikes or road bikes. Giant Revolts are more comfortable just because of the geometry of gravel bikes in general.

    Sure, any tire fits just fine without sealant. It's even easier to add it later through the valve using a syringe. You need sealant for: 1) to seal small leakage of air and; 2) to seal punctures.

    Nice job......sweet looking frame too. Now, I have a question, what would happen in the long run to my carbon frame for not putting all that grease I see you guys putting on the non-moving parts? I put light grease on the headset but not the seatpost and all those non-moving parts......?

  • @dustyhoods
    @dustyhoods4 ай бұрын

    Good question. It's not a grease. It's a paste. And we used two kinds for deferent application. 1. Seatpost. There is a common problem of seatpost slipping under the rider's weight and also making creaky noises when riding. To solve that we use Dynamic Carbon assembly paste. It lowers the required clamping force which prevents over-tightening and damage to the components. On aluminum and carbon it works fine, any grip paste will do the job but don't buy a tube because you'll only need a small amount of it. Also useful for carbon stems and handlebars for the same reasons. 2. Headset bearings, bb cups, wheel axels. We used Dynamic Assembly Paste Pro - it protects surfaces and prevents corrosion. It fills the gaps and holes and prevents water and dirt to get inside. Now, in long term, if you didn't apply assembly paste you will likely face corrosion and wearing of components much quicker and as a result replacing them sooner. The tricky thing here is that you don't see any signs of corrosion until you disassemble your headset or bb which in most cases happens once per year. Ride safe and have fun.

    i own Giant Revolt 0 2024. I am very surprised how good it rides. I changed crankset (to Shimano FC- RX610 46T/30T) and BB (to Shimano SM-BBR60 BSA), as i didnt like level of flex i felt. I also changed cassette to 11T-36T (Shimano CS-HG710-12), to have more range. I plan to add frame and fork protection (RideWrap - covered protection line). Dragon Blue color is matt and its darker than looks on pictures. I also wipe frame after every ride, as its dust magnet. Frame has updated seat tube, so you can also use regular 27.2mm seatpost, and not only Giant D-FUSE seatposts. Wheelset is nothing special, does the job well. But you get as a stock Maxxis Rambler/Ravager tires, which are very good compared to Giant ones, that usually come equiped. Maybe i will change seatpost, handlebar and wheelset to carbon ones. if i will feel the need.
