ENGL amps

ENGL amps

ENGL Amps was founded by Edmund Engl in 1983.

The Musikmesse 1984 in Frankfurt was a great year for ENGL and laid the foundation for a success story that is second to none. The first programmable guitar amp was simply a sensation, something that had never existed before. Back then, when two channels and a master volume on an amp already counted as comfort features, ENGL's futuristic concept was equivalent to a landslide.

Edmund Engl had the brilliant idea in the early 1980s. He wasn't an electronics freak, but a musician. He saw things with the pragmatic necessity of musical practice and thought that such a programmable amplifier would be ideal to have a wide variety of sounds available via footswitch.

From this moment on, Horst Langer comes into play, the technically savvy friend and ENGL's technical mastermind from then until today. With his know-how, he was able to realize every idea, any ENGL amp is a child of his mind.

Hi! I just get a Metal Master 40 head. Where can I connect my 8 Ohms speaker cabinet? Into the "8 Ohms Combo:" or in the "8 Ohms parallel"?

…very late to this party…. I think it is a good video (though with a few faults). And the player is excellent. I was really dissapointed to not see/hear a guitar with 3 single coils. (Or at least a neck AND a bridge single coil pickup) I was really expecting to hear renditions of classic Blackmore tones… like maybe overdriven (and clean) tones from Made in Japan solos… Burn solos… When a Blind Man Cries solo Still I’m Sad… Gates Of Babylon solo (a great example of alternating bridge and neck pickups)… Some stuff from The Battle Rages On… You know…the catalog is HUGE. No doubt the amp is great - it’s use that the video didn’t say - “Ritchie Blackmore!!” to me. …and the gain was too high

I just listend to Six String Therapy, and the solo of Heart To Squeeze is one the most fantastic solos ever recorded. I am glad I saw him and his band live, some years ago.

We all had to start somewhere...but honestly that overdrive is so bad I'd take a Line6 spider (even first gen) over that. But Engl did start making MUCH better amps after this.

I'm pretty sure that the first Engl amp I ever heard was this model and I was really impressed with its combination of crystal clear clarity and rich harmonics with plenty of overdrive. I'd have to say it's an underrated classic and I'm looking to add one to my amp cabin.

Uncle Engl, we need a tube preamp pedal, with Fx loop, remote switch, 2 or more channels (like the E530, I currently use it and love it)... With a product like that, compete with what's on the market (quoting The kraken from victory amps as an example) and being able to combo with the powerful Engl Cabloader :) We love you guys. P.S. Sorry for my English, I'm still studying it.

I got my hands on one and together with my guitars and the rest of my gear it just gives me the tone I dreamed of. It indeed is an exclusive and pulled I the trigger on this without a second thought. I was after not just some tone I wanted my tone. This thing and it´s unique character led to way more than I expected playing guitar. I can´t see the end of the road yet, but i´m just about to make the step on a professional level.

One yes because. He didn't touch the controls on the amp. Therefore, it is completely incomprehensible; what this amplifier can do. As a result, we got a demo of Martin Miller playing the guitar himself, and not the sound of Steve Morse's amplifier. )

Every single demo of this amp on YT is either of some dude chugging, or playing thrash, or some guy shredding. It’s unbearable.
