Welcome to West Cascade Rail,
One of Washington State's premier Railroad Videography KZread Channels. Here you will see professional videos of uniquely northwest railroad items, including western Washington shortline action such as the Puget Sound And Pacific, Tacoma Rail, Meeker Southern, and more.
West Cascade Rail is the place to go if you are looking for hard to find Western Washington railroad operations.
Videos will be shot from locations stretching from the Olympic Peninsula to the Cascade Mountain Range. From Hoquiam to Cashmere, from Bellingham to Vancouver. All videos are shot in crystal clear 1080p 60fps, and 4K. My videos look great on devices from huge TVs, to small phones. If you like professional, smooth, high quality, hard to find Western Washington railroad content, this is the place to be.

Does PSAP trains run at night
Yes
@@West_Cascade_Rail do you want to see it at night
I don't know if it's intentional or you just used a terrible microphone, but way too much bass is cut out.
I had to cut put a lot of low end because of the noise people were making shuffling behind my camera. Sorry about that.
@@West_Cascade_Rail I thought it sounded odd, especially since it wasn't like that with the DPU passing.
@pootispiker2866 yes, some of my earlier work has some questionable audio work, lol. My newer stuff is much better. I reccomend you check some of it out.
Tacoma Rail hill climb sub is out of service now they don’t go to Fredrickson no more
Correct.
@@West_Cascade_Rail do you know why
@@breydence_8912 The city of tacoma cited the financial issues with running up the hill as a reason why they ceased operations on it.
@@West_Cascade_Rail did this use to be BNSF tracks before the Tacoma Rail bought it
That is the dirtiest windshield I have ever seen!! They should have equipment to clean windshields like that.
Looks more like the engineer smeared the dirt across the windshield
Hahaha he was rearranging the dirt so he could see through it better
I never see a lot of trains on PSAP Railroad
They can be hard to find.
2:42 amazing
The 1803 is not a gp9 it’s a boxcar shaped as a go9
great catches and video of these Sounderss nice meet with an amtrak too
I miss Lester!
My grandpa took the first video and photos of the first train to ride through stamped pass
Was that Jack Christiansen?
So cool!
There were no defects.
Shot on panasonic x2?
Fz1000!
The the forth one was amazing 0:48
What settings have you set on the camera? Could you send them to me? I still have a few problems and don't have the perfect video yet.
How late was the train as a result of this set back (I know this was two years ago)?
asm.transitdocs.com/ If you go to this website, they have documented the arrival time of every amtrak train since the early 2000s. This was shot on New Years Eve of 2021, and it's train number 505.
@@West_Cascade_Rail Thank you, I'm trying to grab info on breakdown and other incidents.
Seems like a downgrade to me. Tighter curves and more of them means trains will have to reduce speed more drastically and more often, plus the scenery along the route isn't nearly as nice as the original route which was one of the reasons I and lots of other people loved it. Plus the line is still single track, and Amtrak will still have to share the line with Sound Transit, Tacoma Rail, and the occasional BNSF train. I don't know everything there is to know about this whole endeavor, this is all just based on what I've seen.
I agree
Very cool indeed, are they on jointed rail?
Most of the line is joined rail, but a few small sections are welded.
I’m glad your still out there! Even a short one is still worth watching. Where is this taken?
Thanks for the comment, it's good to know that you like to watch them. This was taken near Nisqually.
SD70MAC leader, so perfect.
SD60M
@@BNSFRailfan_8789 oh yeah! Saw the H2 on a older engine and assumed SD70MAC
In fact the only 60M in h2 still in active service
@@West_Cascade_Rail woah
Nice close-up view! I like the orange and yellow on these! Subscribed! 👍
Awesome man! Welcome!
@@West_Cascade_Rail Thanks! I was looking up Tacoma Rail videos and discovered your channel!
Great shot! Quick question for ya. When and why did the hill job end? I always liked the video of when Amtrak stalled 21 cars of the American Orient Express on this hill and had to be rescued by Tacoma rail!
Sorry for the late response! It was actually a year ago this month. Yeah, that video is a classic!
@@West_Cascade_Rail oh, no problem! Did the online customers close or was the hill just too much to climb?
@@electrictractiontrainsandt3063 hill proved to be too expensive to operate. Rainier Rail now runs to Frederickson from Centralia.
Oh ok! Got it! Thank you very much! That hill sure was something when it operated! 👍
@@electrictractiontrainsandt3063 that is for sure.
Awesome footage, for sure! 👌👍
Thank you!
@@West_Cascade_Rail your welcome!
What camera do you use?
Lumix FZ1000!
@@West_Cascade_Rail Thank you for the reply!
Thanks for making this video! As a railfan who is considering buying the HC-X2, I found this very helpful. Cool shots!
Glad i could help you out with your big decision!
Nice train
Love seeing these 'ol EMD GP locos still working hard!
Nice Rio Grand locomotive and Would you want to Railfan at Chrisella Rd
I live in the area. Thank you for this wonderful video. The drone footage is awesome!
How did you get access to the Sumner detector crossing? It's now fenced off as if it were a private road.
That's unfortunate. It was a road up until a year or two ago.
@@West_Cascade_Rail Yes. That was my favorite location to film sounder trains, but now i can't go there anymore.
Track does need a lot of work.
It's better than most shortline tracks in the area 🤷♂️
Seeing those locomotives pull regular horizon coaches while in green / brown color really rubs me the wrong way
On that stack train with those two engines on the front that is 1997-1999
I love Sounder 921's horn, very unique
Amazing! Last catch was pure awesome
Agreed
Thank you!
