You’re just regurgitating info
Never pay for what you can do youreslf
Dealers scare customers about LoJack. It’s still being sold. I thought they were joking telling them that was popular in the 90’s.
I see whenever someone talks about pre-approved loans they always says credit union, do banks dont offer such service?
Love all of your advice, and your humor!!😆😆👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
7:26 , my confusion is turning in my leased car and getting a new lease on another. I may have gotten duped on this on my last lease by turning it in there. What cam you tell me😊
I wish I can find a private seller, this is ridiculous!!
Great info! Thank you.❤
The final rule was supposed to be effective on July 30, 2024, but there was a law suit I believe by the NADA. Any updates if it survived the law suit? Finally will you being doing an update video when it is effective?
I believe it
Inventory busting at the seams... lmao KARMA is a bitch. Thanks for helping to RAISE awareness.
What about pre sale inspection?
Always do a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection)
I wouldn’t buy anything from this salesman. I’ve never heard such bullshit. He just looks sleazy.
Steve Richard's doesn't know any other way. His method of selling has been broken for many years. He's too old to know it, and old dealer habits are too ingrained to ever demand something different.
I just bought a new 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid 2WD Sport L Urban Gray for $38K OTD including Tax, Title, Registration, windows tinting, Mudguard, all season mats and Cargo Tray. Is this considered as a great deal?
Why are we still required to buy a new car at a dealership? I realize laws are still on the books, but dealerships have really become unnecessary.
Yes, that's what the laws say. The dealer lobby through organizations like NADA has influenced a lot of public policy. That might change some day.
Good info as always.
Dealer doc fee i argued down from 900$ to 200$. Boy were they p.... was end of month and threatened to walk.
Nice work!
There is a dealer in my town, they have Addendum sticker next to msrp sticker. Nitrogen filled tires and wheel locks $399.00 Wtf! Plus on the same sticker, complimentary lifetime power train warranty. This dealer already had past history and they are doing another one.
Just talked to a sales rep at a local Toyota dealership about a 2025 Camry. I asked specifically about dealer markup. She said they tack on a "lifetime protection plan" for $849 and it is mandatory. That sounds to me like an FTC violation. What do you think?
Tying the Sale to a worthless protection package. That kind of stuff is illegal because as is explained on the FTC site, the tied product would NOT stand on its own. For example, who would take their current vehicle to a dealership to get a $849 protection package installed? NOBODY! Here's the FTC link: www.ftc.gov/advice-guidance/competition-guidance/guide-antitrust-laws/single-firm-conduct/tying-sale-two-products
Great show again Kevin and Elizabeth. These new car dealerships are always thinking of ways to deceive the non suspecting public. It’s really very sad but telling that people like this are even permitted to own a new car dealership.
Exactly!
Hello, Meechy here. I just learned about tied selling today and man do i feel angry used and abused. Bmw of minnetonka in minnesota sold me a used car. The finance guy knew i wanted the car bad. My credit wasnt great so i had to use a co-buyer. This was 10/24/2020 btw. As weve been the the dealership multiple times that week. I was ready to buy rhe car. The finance guy then told me that i cannot buy the car unless i buy the extended 100k mile warranty. He said that my approval for the loan will be denied unless i buy the warranty. So i was like fine I’ll get the warranty. We sign through everything quick. While doing so he doesnt show all the paper work. Acts all cool and is like this is what weve gone over already and blah blah blah. So just sign here and here and etc. now today i find out that my warranty covered was only a 36k mile or 3 year warranty and that my warranty is no longer. So now i have car repairs That bmw won’t fix because it’s a hyundai. I want to just go into the dealership and lose my shit. Unfortunately I’m on probation and cannot do that. I would like to know what to do.
My sis got a great deal on the demo car 😊
That's awesome!
How do you fight the freight ship charge? since I can’t find anything online for it to show them if they insist? Online it says it has to be paid and not in the msrp
If you're talking about the manufacturers freight shipping, you technically can't negotiate that off the price. It is a required fee. It's usually added when you "build and price" a car directly from the manufacturers website. You can, however, try to negotiate the price of the car down by whatever that freight cost is. Any freight costs added by the dealer, just walk out. Don't waste the time fighting that battle as that is likely not the only shady thing their doing.
Do the math on the window sticker. It most definitely IS in the MSRP!
Kevin, didn't the updated FDA rules pass the court case and banned al the things your talking about?
You mean FTC rules. The implementation date was set for July 30, 2024.
Take pictures of your new car at delivery
What about the option to build your car on the manufacturer's website and it asks if you want to contact a dealer with that build information? Would you consider this automated under Step 1 or a manual contact under Step 3? Is it even worth it to do it?
The second you encounter a scamming car dealer, just get up and leave. Don't go back , and post on social media to tell your neighbors and friends to avoid them.💯👍
Good points! Thanks for commenting!
I saw a lady with a big sign on a stick, picketing a dealer. That was 40 years ago, it made such a impression on me I still remember her, and the dealer. Tynan's Volkswagen, Denver.
Ive been looking at used trucks lately. Caught two dealers w 900 nitro tires....literally said ur joking right...
Unbelievable that some are still trying to charge for nitrogen filled tires, right?
@@KevinHunter i could understand like 100 bucks maybe...thats nothing. But almost a 1k here in kcmo.....gtfo
Whatever you do, don’t hire or pay money for somebody to negotiate for you. It’s really not difficult at all to save that money and price shop/negotiate yourself.
Waiting for dealers to charge for helium-filled tires. They could claim this would make the car lighter and get better gas mileage.
Lol
Thank you for this video!!!! I'm sitting here watching intently, taking good notes, and wondering if any of these items were in some of the proposals I have received during my vehicle search. Sure enough, there it was. I live in FLORIDA, and Tom Bush (major dealer here in Jacksonville, Florida) is attempting to make me pay .... wait for it... a "Doc Fee" of $889.50 AND a mysterious "Additional Fee" of $ 150.00 for a grand TOTAL FEES of $1,039.50 !! Look at that... over $1K in deal padding! Thanks to your videos, I can now educate myself to not get taken advantage of.
I have a theft protection system on my Nissan truck - it's also called a manual transmission or clutch pedal
YES you are absolutely correct my friend I own a 1971 SeaGrave FD engine for showing at public events 😊 I do all the touch-a- truck shows and any local kids day event, farmers market. Any event so kids can get in the driver's seat and parents also 😊 It's amazing the looks I get from the parents saying your Fire engine 🚒 is a manual transmission. I say YES the automatic transmission did not get BIG in FIre equipment till the 1980s. They can't believe it's a 5 speed. I love driving her, that screaming 8V-71 Detroit Diesel mated to that manual transmission shifting her by matching RPMs to speed. The other theft protection That my Engine has is the Air build up till brakes will release. And the big one with Detroit Diesel is the Emergency Air shut off on the engine, it prevents the engine from STARTING 😊 even the salesperson at lot when I got her, had to show the sales guys how to reset the emergency shut off ( it needs manual reset) they were pushing the button on dash for emergency STOP to kill engine instead of pulling the regular engine kill lever, I guess they thought that was the STOP button. The salesman wanted to go and film riding with me driving her when I test drove her, and were very interested in learning the tips I showed them on start/ stop tech. It has TWO start buttons, the normal residency on FD equipment, you use both to START the old girl up, they were just using one button. The engine had been a trade in on a sale and dealership was using it for their little league baseball sponsorship. But the financial manager wanted to clear her off the lot, it took up too much room, the used car dealership was not that big.
Nobody wants it good for you!
Lol, that will certainly stop many people from trying to steal it!
Ok boomer
4:13 - That's why I love this channel.
Aah... BS! Lol
Im waiting foe the used car video. Im interested in buying a used vehicle asap but im gonna need help. I will be calling Kevin Hunter the homework guy when the used vehicle video comes out.
It's already at the editors!
Awesome 👌🏽
So I can be paying with financing from my own non dealership financing source and use these techniques?
I got bamboozled into buying a LoJack system on the new truck that I just purchased. After putting up a fight, they lowered the price a few hundred dollars however with the trade-in that I had, this dealer offered me at least five grand more than the other two dealerships. So all in all it was a much better deal out the door than any other dealership that I dealt with. I felt this was a win. I also had a second trade-in but rather than trading it into this dealership I shopped around as well and found another dealership that paid me $4000 more.
Wow, in the shortage Toyota was only selling with deposits. Admittedly, they were cars coming in.
LAst time I bought a car, I did just as you mentioned. I asked to see their car to see if the tire values were green. They weren't on the salesman Ford. Funny thing is, I was looking at a Toyota of top of it.
when do I ask for the manufacturer rebate, with the salesperson or the financial office?
New to your channel KH, is THG a service like Delivrd (Tomi Mikula) which is based in North Carolina but caters to all over USA? Do you also charge an upfront fee like Delivrd to get a buyer the best price on a car in USA? Not a car broker (as dealership does not pay a spotters fee) more like a 'Professional Negotiator'?
Thanks
Hi Elizabeth
Hi Kevin
This is great info! I see all the mistakes I've made in the past when buying a car. One thing I have done that works well is to completely ignore questions that are obnoxious. I like her answers really well and they would be great for the first time the dealer asks an inappropriate question, , but it's amazing how disconcerting it is to people to respond with silence. They'll ask the question again thinking I didn't hear, and again I'll ignore them completely, not look at them, say nothing and let them pick up the conversation with a different topic. They're emotionally shaken.
I’ve been purchasing from my dealer for many years …. He has never added exorbitant fees . Yes … heroin prices are going up but that’s expected .
Thank you for all the good info . It really helps. I am on the process of purchasing a new vehicle and doing some home work . I have a question - what’s the reasonably charge fee for licensing on a new vehicle . I seen it ranging from $400-900 . It seems excessive to me . Can I negotiate this ? I live in the state of Washington
Well, I did get a $1000 discount on my GM car in 2022 just because I was a costco member.
Why is an advertised "final price" not the final price?
That's just how a car dealer operates!
@@KevinHunter That's not an FTC violation?
This idiot reminds me of a salesman that I dealt with when I was about to build my first house many years ago. He actually punched me in the chest with his index finger to make his point. Needless to say I didn’t do the deal with him.
I remember a dealership that wouldn’t let us test drive a vehicle until we completed a credit app. The salesman walked away and I started to fill out the application. Then I thought about it. I got up, took the application and found the salesman sitting with his feet up on his boss’s desk (how cliche is that), got his attention, tore the app up in front of him and we walked out.
Good for you!
