Where is the Baptist church in the bible? John the Baptist was the friend of the bridegroom [John 3:29], and the church is Christ's bride [Ephesians 5:22-28]! How would you feel if your wife decided to wear the name of your friend instead of your last name? Or even both of your last names? You would be mad! In the same way, Christ will be upset somebody wore the name of his best man John the Baptist!!

It's not "Baptist" as a surname, but rather as someone who baptised people. There is only one Church-a Church that came into existence when the first disciples received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. That's when the Church was "born". Whether you call yourself Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal, etc. is irrelevant because there is only one Church, the Bride of Christ. Baptism with water is symbolic of us turning away from our sins, of turning away from our old life before we accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour. When we are lifted out of the water, it is as though we're being raised to a new life in Christ. When we accept the Holy Spirit into our lives and hearts, it is like being born again, i.e. we're given a spiritual re-birth. That's the moment when we step out of the darkness into the light, when we die to our old life and are born to our new life in the Holy Spirit.
