With no dog in the race, all I'll say is that Jackson and Pinson weren't on that '04-'05 UNC squad coached by Williams. Nor were they there when Matt Doherty was the coach during McCants freshman year.

That’s a terrible thing to do to a kid that age. Ya, teach him responsibility as he grows, but don’t put the whole f-n family on his back. N if he didn’t make it? It’s incredibly hard to make it pro at any sport, I mean it’s damn near impossible, and to STAY in the league for more than a year or 2 is crazy tough too. That sh- ruins people if they fail to live up to ur f-d up expectations for a kid who probably ain’t even hit puberty yet.

Gotta love the hood mentality...little Marcus can shoot a bball...so all of us adults can give up on trying to better ourselves and get ourselves out the hood. Lets just put that on a 12 year old. Good Lord. Thankful my parents were responsible n busted their asses to make our lives better and didnt ezcpext sht from me and my sister other than to go to school and graduate.

I remember calling my dad telling him I was burnt out from playing ball and I didn’t want to anymore, I told him the pressure he places on me hinders my ability to focus and not be anxious while I play. He just dismissed and deflected that. That’s when I knew, it was time to hang ‘em up and do what I want to do with my life. Explore all the options and live for me. Best thing I could’ve done because I’m financially independent now. But still carry that weird weight of, if I stick with it, where would I be. Would I be more loved not only by family but maybe women? It’s a weird dynamic to grow up with this expectation of make the league or bust. Shoutout all of y’all who have dealt with that and took the reins over. I’ll never place that pressure on my kid, win or lose, that’s my kid, I’m proud. And my younger bro, hears that from me all the time. I want him to be greater than me. Go far and high. But if he stopped playing ball, he’s still my brother and I love him the same.
