THE SIGHTS & SOUNDS OF AVIATION

Website
familie-wimmer.com/hobby/hr16/index.html

All videos are all filmed by myself over more than 31 years of travelling.
I love Classic and especially Soviet Aviation.

I moved back to Japan in 2017. Since then I opened a new "sub-series" THE SIGHTS OF JAPAN, visible in the title.
These videos feature the stunning beauty of Japan from sky view on out dated planes with limited life expectancy, such as the B 767 and B 777-series.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the Sights & Sounds of Aviation and my way of seeing Aviation.

Love those engines.Full power with brakes set ,then released.Airfield looks a rather bleak & cold place, typical Russia I suppose!

...my late brother, Tim. came to us from Ireland in November 1954 on an Aer Lingus Connie...I remember going with mom & dad (in our 1952 Dodge Coronet) 70 years ago to pick him up at Idlewild...

The old DC-10 had a troubled past, but I loved flying on them. Much like the L1011, the DC-10 was so roomy in economy class that you felt like you were in a small movie theater. The aircraft would creak and moan while it was taxiing, but she flew effortlessly and those three engines could put you solidly back in your seat when the power was advanced.

The Allison 501-D13 has two speeds, ground idle (10,400), and flight idle (13,800). Just prior to takeoff, the Captain selects flight idle. When you advance the throttles, the rpm remains constant. You set power with the torque meters. Max limiting on takeoff is 3000 ft lbs torque, or 913 turbine inlet temp...whichever you hit first. Max power is 3,750 hp. BTW, I ran the calcs on the shot of the F/Os panel at cruise. At 20,000 feet, 260 knots indicated, I assumed ISA Standard temp. Calculates out to 359 knots true air speed.

So glad you didn't include music in the photos. There's a beautiful sadness in the silence looking at all those beautiful aircraft that never flew again and knowing by the above comment that it's now a field of debris from the war that never should have been. Glad you were able to be there before the war and was able to document so many beautiful classic aircraft. Thank you for sharing all these on KZread.

This is an extraordinary video showcasing one of the most remarkable eras in aviation history. The skies and airports were adorned with magnificent aircraft such as the Boeing 747, DC10, A300, and MD11. The captivating sound of the 747 in this video has been meticulously preserved, allowing us to relive those glorious moments. I express my sincere gratitude for sharing this exceptional experience, providing us all with a glimpse into the grandeur of times past.

The 727, even though it is no longer in service, is one of my favorite planes in terms of looks, styling and sound. This one needs a little bit of a cleanup. I will say also that the landing approach seems like it took forever. It seems like the pilot lined up the aircraft long before he came anywhere near the airport.

@@thecameramantraveler4830 Japan is the best place for stress free and scenic travel, especially from October - January / February, try to avoid the warmer and humid and taiphoon seasons May - September. Ishigaki is nice, but my secret recommendation is the neighboring island of Iriomote with the size of New York City and only one traffic light for educational purposes of the 10 school kids on the island.

Saw many American and Northwest Orient Electras arrive and depart from observation deck at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) in early 60s. Always recall the self-contained stairway folding out to enable deplaning (no jetways at that time). Electra had a distinctive high pitched whine engine sound wise. Those Allison engines were something else. Their profile when witnessed from the ground was equally distinctive. Only plane similar were Capital Airlines Vickers Viscounts. Both had turboprop engines. Viscounts were by Rolls Royce. Frequently saw Viscounts headed to Detroit Willow Run Airport (YIP) as well.
