Alright Tommy, not sure if you have heard of John Baker? John was instrumental in developing flavours right at the beginning of the carp bait (specifically boiled and paste bait) scene during the late 1970's and 1980's. His flavours are absolutely brilliant, unique and are used at low levels. I used the company he used to have buy and develop his flavours at so, i can confirm the flavour house were outstanding quality. They are expensive but believe me, they are head and shoulders better than any other i have ever used. When you hear talk of Rod Hutchinson and the original flavours he used, John was the man behind some of Rod's developments. Some of those 1980's flavours were epic, Pukka Salmon, strawberry, original scopex, dairy cream etc. You won't be disappointed. His base mixes are from over 50 years experience in the industry. Not cheap but, have a talk to John and he will fill you with confidence and expert advice how to get the best from any bait you buy. I make and only use my own,baits and liquid foods now , however i can absolutely recommend John Bakers flavours above anyone else's. Proof of a special bait, you don't need a lot of it and the carp hang around that area after introducing it a couple of times, i don't mean ten kilos of it, i mean a few handfuls. Good luck mate. By the way, you could make up a kilo of bait in less time than it takes to make one of your videos. It really doesn't take as long as people think especially if they just use paste not boilies if the nuisance species are not a problem. Bait up with paste baits watch them carp tear it up looking for another one.pre baiting with paste is a game changer.

Often in my humble opinion if bait is priced too cheaply against their competitors, it puts people off , people can think cheaper isn't as good. I have heard it from alot of anglers. If a bait company is in it's infancy, doesn't have the purchasing power of lets say one of the larger bait companies this can influence price as they may have to pay more for their ingredients because they buy smaller quantities at a time. Hope this gives a little insight into why prices of smaller bait companies can often be higher but, their baits can be as good if not better especially if they sell direct to the public cutting out the middle me. Not being negative towards any companies by the way, they all have to make a living. In the modern day bait carp bait market, some companies baits are just better than others, that is why they have been around for a very long time and probably will be. To stay at the top for forty years or thirty years plus is a testimonial to a good bait company. ( If they don't work they wouldn't still be in business).
@tommycarping24 күн бұрын
Very true mate. The tackle companies such as AD must make a killing from the most popular baits
@Narrow.is.the.way.24 күн бұрын
My suggestion is very simple to all carp anglers struggling on the price of boilies these days I suggest you club together as a team on any water you go on, making your own baits from your own ingredients. Bait companies have the advantage of buying power, purchasing ingredients by the ton. If enough lads combine their resources (their bait spend per season) you could make incredible baits for less money as bait companies have to work on profitability giving retailers a considerable mark up margin on their baits so they stock them in their tackle shops. It is hard graft but, very rewarding. One tip, try to make a bait where ingredients can be sourced in the U.K avoiding import cost fluctuations and new regulations or restrictions on the harvesting of those ingredients becoming scarce for example certain fish meals and shellfish powders mussel extracts etc that have been over fished or harvested to scarcity. Not knocking bait companies just suggesting an alternative way to use your hard earned cash. Convenience is often the major factor in choosing off the shelf baits as time is already limited through work and family life. My suggestion is to formulate a base mix, purchase the dry ingredients in bulk , chip in for a brand new cement mixer, to mix it all in then divide the base mix it among yourselves and make your own. Flavours can also be purchased in bulk from flavour houses or formulate your own ones. Of course it isn't for everyone. Bait companies operate on small profit margins , the retailers make the real money on bait. Again not knocking anyone just telling it how it really is. In 1990's for example; tackle dealers often had a 43% mark up on bait. It isn't a big profit industry for the bait manufacturers. Only if they shift massive amounts of it per year.
@tommycarping24 күн бұрын
Thankyou mate a very insightful comment 😁👍 I have looked into making my own and have friends who make their own bait too and it does well for them. I just don't have the time to make my own and use the convienience of baits I can buy ready made.
@Narrow.is.the.way.24 күн бұрын
@@tommycarping I know mate, buying one that you can have confidence in straight out the bag is what lads want. Your tests I am sure will help a lot of lads who are unsure what is a really good bait over an inferior poorer quality one. Great channel mate.

@@tommycarping you cant judge the attractiveness of a bait by eating and tasting it, you're not a fish
I can see how much flavour is left in it though mate after 24hrs using my own senses. I never claimed to be a fish its just my opinion 😁👍
Love the content man love the vids man can’t wait for this review 👍🏻😀🎣

How come u use a bait on a small lake and what the purpose of a rig that long
Bait boat was to position my bait where I wanted it mate but the fish I caught was from the margins lol so needn't of used it. The rig mate I'd only just started fishing in this video so was experimenting with some different rigs.
@@tommycarping may I ask is this lake spaced out for pegs and casting as I want to fish here but looks small
@bangersnmash2589 pegs aren't that far apart mate, it is a decent size to be fair. I think its 14 pegs in 4 acres
@@tommycarping is their much room to fish or are u having to be carefull u don't fish over someone else
@bangersnmash2589 yeah theres quite a bit of room mate its decent tbf
Well done mate, Is Baden hall a carp only venue? Is it a day ticket water or syndicate water?
Thankyou mate. Its a day ticket it can be booked on their website. Yeah the specimen pools are just carp mate 🫡👍
@@tommycarping Thanks for the information Tommy. Nice one mate.
No worries mate anytime 🫡😁👍
Had never heard of him mate until you just said. Will have a look into it I love learning about new things, thanks for your comments youve been making mate I've learnt a lot from them and its always refreshing when someone takes the time to share their knowledge 🫡😁👍 I'm definitely going to start making my own baits soon
What were you thinking when you set up the camera, prepare the baits… ok and now my shirt of to go naked for the intro..😂😂😂 Carpreviews for ‘special’ men! 💪👍

How did you pair the remote to the boat im struggling to do it cheers
Mine came already paired mate they should pick it up if the boat and remote are both switched on. If not you may have to take the cover off and press a button on the RF controller inside
@@tommycarping is that in the remote????
@@tangledtackleuk no mate will be in the boat
Bank tackle is the only place I go for all my terminal tackle 💯
Fair play mate. Watched a couple of your vids your vlogs are decent man 😁👍🫡
@@tommycarping ahh man, really appreciate that my friend 💙
Very true mate. The tackle companies such as AD must make a killing from the most popular baits
Thankyou mate a very insightful comment 😁👍 I have looked into making my own and have friends who make their own bait too and it does well for them. I just don't have the time to make my own and use the convienience of baits I can buy ready made.
@@tommycarping I know mate, buying one that you can have confidence in straight out the bag is what lads want. Your tests I am sure will help a lot of lads who are unsure what is a really good bait over an inferior poorer quality one. Great channel mate.
