    Why make the pump plastic? Plastic threads strip too easily. Msr should make a pump option that is full metal. Would totally pay extra for the added security

    Im having a hard time to pull out the fuel cable line. Can anyone suggest a good solution?

  • @1ambulator
    @1ambulator8 күн бұрын

    I have 7 Whisperlites, so I know what you are experiencing. Pull it out using pliers (take care not to pinch the cable). If it just will not come out, remove the jet and needle, and drip several drops of a 50/50 mix of acetone and auto transmission fluid into the fuel line at the jet end. Let the line sit, with the generator end above the fuel line for a couple hours to overnight. Tapping the fuel line every so often helps release any air. Try to pull it out again. If it doesn't want to budge repeat the 50/50 mix process. Let it sit and try pulling it out again. After the cable is out, using a syringe or carefully dripping, either work some acetone into the fuel line with the cable or flush the fuel line with acetone which will evaporate quickly. Wipe the cable very well with a clean rag. Put a drop of mineral oil (baby oil or pump lube) on it then wipe it again. Put a drop of mineral oil into the fuel line then reinsert the cable. Be sure not to fully insert the cable into the fuel line, leave about 1/4 to 3/8 inch out. Cable may be tough to insert around the generator and pliers may be useful

    У меня есть горелки почти всех брендов, но MSR - лучшие. Что бы там кто не говорил что насосы ломаются и прочее - сломать можно что угодно, да и брак бывает. А вот то что кроме насоса в этих горелках НЕЧЕМУ ломаться - факт. В отличие от других горелок тут всего 1 узел с уплотнительным кольцом и тот в насосе. Боишься что сломается насос - носи запасной, тем более что он не дорого стоит. Это по любому надежней чем менять кучу резинок на морозе, что бывает в других горелках. Короче говоря: у нас, в России есть АК-47, а в США есть MSR))) Только так могу сравнить)

    I've spent days scrubbing off the flaking seam tape that fell in my tent like dandruff so I could reseal it with Gear Aid Seam Grip. I thought I'd done a great job and then the tap starts going on the fly and I'm going to have to repeat the process. Dude that was a bad choice for construction of a high priced tent.

    Can you use the liquid fuel stove bottles as water bottles if you plan on just using the Whisperlite Universal with canisters only, but want the bottle for liquid fuel use in an emergency but don’t want to lug around a useless bottle, but make it useful by using it for water until really needed for fuel? This would make the whole stove more viable to carry, or else may as well just get a lighter remote canister stove that also burns canister fuel inverted

  • @MSRGear
    @MSRGear6 ай бұрын

    The short answer is no. MSR fuel bottles are not considered food-safe (and haven't been designed or tested for that purpose). Therefore, you should not use MSR liquid fuel bottles for any form of water storage.

  • @impermanenthuman8427
    @impermanenthuman84276 ай бұрын

    Is there a reason why it’s not stated that the Universal can burn 100% propane gas bottles (Coleman 1lb bottles) with a LPG/propane to lindal adapter? All the manufacturers with e don’t say you can or say you can’t yet everyone who does it says it works fine

  • @MSRGear
    @MSRGear6 ай бұрын

    Good question, and that's correct! This has to do with the valve type. We do not recommend using third party adapters with our stoves. These are a potentially unsafe modification of the stove. This can cause the stove to burn at heat levels that it has not been tested for which can lead to permanent damage of the stove.

    @@MSRGear So pure propane burns hotter than isobutane mixes?

  • @impermanenthuman8427
    @impermanenthuman84276 ай бұрын

    @@MSRGear my recommendations for the Universal to really stand out amongst the competition, would be make bottles that can store water so they are more multi use, design and test lindal valve adapters for both the higher performance 100% pure 1lb propane bottles (which can also be refilled from the bigger 20lb propane tanks with the right adapter), and also a lindal adapter for the cheaper and more common (than iso butane canisters) 100% butane canisters which are available everywhere in multi packs. Instead people are either just using after market adapters anyway, or less likely to buy the Whisperlite Universal as it may not be as multifunctional in terms of various fuel types as they would prefer (even though it is very multifunctional)
