    Great video as always. It's so special and memorable to ride a long distance tour with family, isn't it? I did STP's with two of my boys separately and the memories so etched in my mind (hopefully theirs too).

    Nice video, Hanoch. I've ridden RSVP several times, always fun, but not this year, maybe next. A group of us always stopped at Dutch Mother's in Lynden for breakfast. I actually enjoyed waiting in line at the border. Its a great time to chat with everyone. Before the golden ears bridge was built, we had to take a short ferry across the river. That was always fun. Canada is a favorite place for me. Have a fun ride this year.

    3 Reasons for Sun Sleeves! 1) I am quite allergic to bug bites. This is probably the biggest reason as I get swollen limbs otherwise. 2) No need to re-apply sunscreen on long days and chance of missed coverage! 3) They are actually cooler than without sleeves. Hard to believe at first but with the sweat wicking and light color.... it really doesn't feel bad at all. I should probably do a video on this topic separately but I really do think they're a great idea for long rides.

    While it is very short, I’ve found Blaine from 10th to 9th in Queen Anne is pretty brutal. Compared to my experience on Dravus which is only a few times (cause I try to avoid it) I might say some parts of Blaine feel steeper but it might be placebo. As a sprinter I might also suggest some sections of Bertona just one over from dravus. Especially from 26th to whally it has some steep stuff! Great video:)

  • @IceArdor
    @IceArdor3 күн бұрын

    Seattle needs bike boulevards: roads that are targeted for local traffic, bikes, scooters, and walking--closed to through traffic. These drivers are so impatient. This video was 5 minutes long. If a driver had to wait behind a cyclist for the entire hill climb, they would have been delayed by 4 minutes. Cars are delayed by 4 minutes all the time on highways and stroads, yet they aren't enraged and honking on those like they are when a lowly cyclist is in front of them.

  • @J_Smith7
    @J_Smith73 күн бұрын

    Well done! I do feel like however in and around queen anne, capitol hill, madrona, beacon hill, west seattle and magnolia are other more yet indiscrete %20+ grades. However, it should be noted dravus is particularly unique and challenging given the pressure of cars stacking up behind (good job at maintaining your cool :). There are few if any %20+ grade main traffic roads. Unclear if Ferry avenue in west seattle i steeper but its long too and the last turn is a surprise cause you cant see the final climb. Also, if you count starting at sea level on harbor avenue i believe its a longer climb vs where dravus levels out at the top. I'll join if you make this one a group ride :)

    I'm curious if you know your lowest gear "gain ratio" (Sheldon Brown) or gear inches or meters development? I like climbing hills but my bike doesn't have a low-enough gear so I can't take much grade before I need to start pulling up on the bars (my lowest gear is only 2.4 gain ratio or 32.7 gear inches). Were you needing to pull up on the bars in the steepest sections? It looked like a heck of an effort. Congratulations! Love your videos and hope to join you someday on one of your Best Side Summits rides when I get a better bike.

  • @BestSideCycling
    @BestSideCycling3 күн бұрын

    Best to express in gear inches due to the difference in wheel size :) It's actually quite decent. Just under 30 for the lowest gear. I definitely need to pull on the bars. My technique is a little bit odd since I find myself a lot more comfortable seated than standing for these efforts (helps with the traction a lot though)

    Can you answer this question? How about make this video! Can you explain the difference between the P line 4 speed and the T line 12speed? Besides the gearing. My question why? I cannot decide between these 2 as is the extra $2800 more for the T line 12 speed really worth it? How much better is the T line 12 speed performance and ride quality? Appreciate any information on this as I’m getting ready to buy 1 of these. Thanks

  • @BestSideCycling
    @BestSideCycling3 күн бұрын

    Haha you can see some of the behind the scenes right at the beginning, my friend is on an electronic unicycle with a GoPro. I wouldn't trust a self-flying drone on such a busy road. P Line 4 Speed and T line 12 speed. We should break that into two questions since there is also P Line 12 speed available. Whether you should get 4 speed vs 12 speed. Then whether you should get T LIne or P Line. 4 Speed vs 12 Speed. Is the addition of the modified IGH to add an extra 3 speeds. Total maybe an extra 2 pounds to the bike. You'll know when you need it. 4 Speed is fine for city riding and flat areas but I did not nearly have enough gears to do the rides I wanted to do in HKG. Most people have an idea where they stand here. P Line vs T Line. An additional I think maybe 2-3 pounds of savings and of course a lot more carbon components. This ultimately comes to whether or not you want the "lightest" version of the Brompton available. Very honestly, the riding quality isn't light years ahead but when I saw the 12 speed coming out... I wanted to invest in my Brompton as it was going to be my main travel bike and the lightest version available. The P Line 12 speed if you can accept it's weight: is going to do everything you want it to do :)
