Hi, I am interested in this addon, can it be applied to something like a car? This is the closest thing to ImageModeller I have been looking for for years.
@Nicko163 күн бұрын
Yes you could use this method to model a car using a camera match. You might need to start with a cuboid that has the rough dimensions of the vehicle.

@@Nicko16 I've been testing the addon for a while now, it turned out that it's great for calibrating camera for the existing model, in my case, I can use the car wheels to calibrate cameras, however, I also have tried another approach which is calibrating a camera by using points of interest similar to ImageModeller, but I can't get this to work so far, even something like a basic rectangle 3d shape, I've no clue why the camera won't align correctly.

I'm running through an issue where the height map seems to be coming out very pixelated. I seem to be getting the same issue when using only the BlenderGIS plugin to make the height map too. Is there just not enough data in some places in the world when using STRM 30m for height maps?
@Nicko169 күн бұрын
Yes it is possible that there is just not very much info in some parts of the world, would be interesting to know how much detail you see in the raster in qgis. There are also other sources of height data available such as the ASTER global elevation dataset, so its worth looking around for better sources. Also double check that your mesh is subdivided, as the level of detail can greatly effect the height map

The quality on these seem a LOT higher than with the official Google Earth 3D tiles via Blosm method. Even blosm using "buildings with more details" have like half as much detail as using this method. I noticed when using Google Maps that i can see more detail than my blender blosm imports which i spent ages doing so I decided to try this way to get the tiles directly from what i can see in the browser and yep much better. I guess Google resticts the best quality for themselves.
@walker105415 күн бұрын
Ah but this method unfortunately is definitely very hacky. Blosm imports everything to scale, even if you import 2 areas it'll automatically allign them to where they should be and to scale with each other. This method though has the scale very off, and if you do 2 captures they might not even be scale with each other, and it'll place them on top of each other, and it'll duplicate the object names so it'll mess up your object list so you have to make sure to put the previous capture in its own collection first.
@Nicko168 күн бұрын
Thanks for the insightful observations! It's possible that using the api has some restrictions on quality. One thing I noticed is that when my GPU is not 'busy' with other applications I get higher quality captures from Renderdoc.
