Great stuff Luke, thanks for posting. I recently also converted my Jimny into a mini camper. One of the old models like yours, in black too! I stripped out 3 seats, and built a platform on top of a wooden frame. I can just about stretch out in the car itself for a night's sleep. So nothing as luxurious as a top tent equiped vehicle, but despite its primitiveness, it served its purpose well for spending nine days and nights travelling around Scotland on the single lane backroads where the Jimny can shake the omnipresent campervans. Just got back from the trip a few days ago.

The Road Traffic Act 1988 states that you can drive a vehicle up to 15 yards off a public road for the purpose of parking, but this does not confer any right to park the vehicle. If parking in laybys or car parks you must do so in line with the Road Traffic Act 1998 - vehicles may use a designated formal lay-by to rest, including overnight in a motorhome as long as the activity is contained within the vehicle - i.e. no awnings, tables, chairs, cooking etc outside the vehicle. Please Note: This also includes vehicles with rooftop tents - These are only legally permitted in formal campsites.

I completely agree with your sentiment. It's been said before that a person can have a more fulfilling experience just walking to the letterbox than a trip around the world. It all comes down to attitude, expectation and awareness. I have had my most enjoyable kayak trips within an hour of my home....I've also been miserable in some exotic locations. Thanks for the Video Luke
