WhaleMilk

Hi! I'm Whale Milk, and I make videos for a hobby. I have ADHD, which means that I have plenty of passing fancies that come and go at an extremely rapid pace, so the kind of videos I make are going to vary wildly. Sometimes I'll make comedy, sometimes I'll make essays, sometimes I'll make whatever else I feel like. Most of the times it's going to relate to gaming, but that's not going to always be the case. So if you're willing to go along on a ride with me, and if you're fine with a very wide variety of content, then this is your place.

    If sampo's power is to change the narrative on a whim he reminds me of the comedian sorcerer who can manipulate reality with his imagination. Which would be a cool concept if a little unnerving if it goes down the unreality direction.

    I think I get the epilogue. At the end of the game, that level was made by Davey. He wants so badly to speak about it, but he instead lets it speak for itself. He's not done with all his bad habits, but it's a beginning.

    I always got the impression when Coda said stop adding lamppost to my games he was truly saying stop adding endings. his games end with lamppost but most aren't reachable. take the house cleaning game. it's meant to loop forever, the lamppost forever out of reach.

    It's similar to how Half life 2 focuses a lot of its puzzles of their new at the time physics engine, but because I had played a lot of Skyrim before picking it up, all that awe that I was supposed to feel was completely lost on me.

    I feel like this is just me but I'm starting to get fed up with how little progress we've had in the Traveler's sibling story despite being so close to the end (at least based on the storyline preview). Yes, they did tell us to find the truth ourselves and explore Teyvat and we also did realize she's not a Descender, but beyond that we haven't been trying to find her as much at all, almost like we forgot the whole point of us being here in Teyvat journeying across the 7 nations is to ask the Archons about our sibling. And it's like the Traveler hasn't considered trying to find their own clues if the Archons don't know anything. I'm more than sure we would be able to find the truth and find more info about them not being a Descender if we were actively looking for them. Those different objectives aren't mutually exclusive but the story treats it like it is. So I do hope that 4.7 quest presents something meaningful in that part of the lore. In a way, we've been getting so much about the Gnoses, Celestia, Fatui, etc., but what about the very reason why the Traveler is going around Teyvat in the first place?

  • @WhaleMilk
    @WhaleMilk9 күн бұрын

    I think it's important to remember that this game hasn't been about "finding our sister" since 1.4. We found Lumine in We Will Be Reunited, but she literally told us that she had no desire to be found and said in order for Aether to have any reason to talk to her, he needs to find the truth of the world. After that moment, the game no longer was about finding Lumine because Aether learned that 1) she's alive and well and 2) she's aligned with the abyss, so he knows she's alive and where to find her. What it became was a game about discovering why Lumine had aligned herself with the force that, up to that point, we understood to be evil. So yes we've been getting a lot of info about Gnoses, celestia, Fatui, and all the shit about Irminsul and Heavenly Principles, because that's all information that's important to have in understanding why Lumine is doing what she's doing. What Lumine wants from Aether is to come to the same conclusion that she did (joining the abyss and executing the Loom of Fate operation) by going through the same journey she did. Because this world is so complex and there's so much going on, explaining her philosophy would come off as hollow and disingenuous, and you've probably understood this first hand. Arguing with someone about sensitive political topics never goes anywhere because simply explaining your standpoint isn't doing much, but if they lived the exact same life as you did, then they would most definitely be swayed to your side because, you know, they've lived the same life as you. That's what Lumine wants to do. Without fully grokking what the hell is going on in Teyvat, what she's doing is going to come off as evil or bad, so she wants us to experience the world and come to the conclusions on our own. And since Teyvat's history is seemingly cyclical, she probably knows we will eventually come to her side. So in many ways we've been making progress on the siblings' story this entire time, it's just we haven't gotten another payoff or checkpoint or framerule or however you want to think about it since 1.4. And that seems about right since this game has on many occasions stated plainly that this story is about the long haul.

  • @dustinabigan2776
    @dustinabigan27768 күн бұрын

    @@WhaleMilk Problem is that it's not like doing what the sibling wants us to do and actively finding her isn't mutually exclusive. We can do both but we barely get anything for the latter, if anything it might help in finding the reasons for the sibling's choices if we're given ideas of where to look and then fill in the gaps in information later by actively looking for information ourselves. We spent a lot of time with Arlecchino in Fontaine, but I don't think we spent much on trying to ask her about the sibling since looks like the Fatui have some information on the sibling not being a Descender. But I don't think we even asked about it, at least in a significant way, or for any other information which could have helped us know more about what the sibling is trying to do or at the very least verify if she's still where we think she is. If anything, it would be all the more concerning for the MC to realize the sibling is aligned with the Abyss when their plan since prior to that is that the Abyss have been responsible for Dvalin. After that, it becomes total silence that it makes it all the more concerning what they've been doing all this time which assuming the trailer is completing Loom of Fate. So now it looks like the MC is blindly following what their sibling is saying all this time without thinking that maybe something else is going on. It's taking the idea of trust a bit too far for believability imo, even if it's the sibling. If anything, the difference in views from both of them should make the MC all the more desperate to find their sibling the longer the story goes just out of worry or at least have us actively finding whereabouts more than just asking the Archons or waiting for Dainsleif to show up. If Lantern Rite only happens once a year in Teyvat, that's technically three years of not seeing the sibling in person outside of visions. Regardless of what the story implies, that's still a long time where anything can happen such that it doesn't hurt to be even a bit more concerned with what's happening.

    Thank you for making this video! Sorry I gotta ramble for this. I do wanna account this since I was what you might call an anti-sjw formally. Altho for GG I did hear how the opponents of it were rather not as innocent either considering some takes a bit too far or rather they fumbled it bad even as reasonable it is (just talking esp what I've heard from Anita allegedly or some I can't remember). That then prompted some bad faith reactions. I think it probably started with calling such things pretentious (whether they are or not) or "not for me" in a disrespectful manner, to some overreactions ofc. Then next, right wingers then co-opted this kinda reaction if not mixed together with such the disgruntled gamers from the takeaways they heard. And hey that does include getting women and pocs on their side as well unfortunately (something somehing NotYourShield), despite how paradoxical if you think about it, but who can you really trust at all? Like the worst thing about this bs is how underreported it is in terms of details to the point no one is able to decide what is. Like some things I say, could be rather not as confirmed or are just alleged otherwise. Lastly I did hear how TotalBisuit was initially on its side until disassociating with it becoming what it is, which I can't blame him. I mean what was the goal about "ethics in game journalism" anymore? Also how that situation with how the Night in the Woods creator's death was handled was super disgusting I seen on both sides. Like how that gave a lot of ammo to the anti-sjws is just gnarly enough to he point I fear something like this rolling in my grave. What really happened, we don't know, but to look back on the reaction of such is uhgghhhh. Luckily in this day n age, the anti-wokes we call em nowadays are rather taken less seriously which is lucky enough to see how ridiculous their ideology is anyway. How long until we make human righs sh!t "political" ever? Getting sick n tired of gay or trans people existing being called "woke." Like all they wanna do is game and live like as do straights. Like screw all you grifters, stop going "no politics, no agenda" head up your a$$ while you there pushing your own as well. The left can't meme? SO does the right as well fartface. And you know what's funny? Walking sims out here getting backlash while visual novels out here just standing fine, but ig hrrr drrrr anime, japan good whatever (dunno what the el is with that east vs west shix to that). Like who cares what is game or not, I think some things can still serve a purpose whether with a lack of gameplay or not. It's just niche, it's not for you ofc! Which I think proves something well with Theoretical Rain's I Hate "Video Games" video, def worth checking out. Altho in terms of what I like outta walking sims, Gone Home n Firewatch seems to rather be kinda the stuff I like, considering the freedom you're given to interact around the environment while in a linear structure. I do still enjoy What Remains of Edith Finch tho. Def comes down to the memorable presentation and story of it ofc, despite its very linear approach much akin to Dear Esther, with what I mention felt a bit of an experiment, not as fully fledged I feel, but I still appreciate its qualities to it. I mean with it starting as a HL2 mod does say something with it, which is a backstory I can appreciate esp coming from Source modding. Sorry I really had to let it outta my system with what I had to ramble above, it just reminds me why I'm glad to have changed my stance now that I've grown older and more open of such things. I do wish my past me didn't exist, but it is what it is. Hope for the more better in the present.

    My personal opinion is that Davey isn't.. Evil or antagonist. He's just messed up or traumatized, and it's not always easy to see that and he was projecting himself on Coda and his games. Yes, it's messed up, no doubt, but the Coda himself, was, well.. Enabling him? Kept sending him games, throwing jabs at the person, who is obviously oblivious to everything. He needed help as much, but he never received it, as he just haven't seen anything wrong with himself and the only person who he was "looking up to" instead of having a talk with him and telling him what's wrong directly, he just, well.. Made further games, enabling him further until The Tower. Also, i do want to add that we don't explicitly know that Coda stopped making games. He could've just.. Stopped showing them yo Davey. Stopped sharing them with people like himself. It's an amazing story and, god, there's so much sides you can talk about. Fiction is incredible. Yeah, 3 am ramblings, i might be wrong, so come at me(please, don't).

    That last fight was the first (and maybe only time given the context and setting of the story for now) that we overcame something alongside several members of different factions that follow different paths. We basically had: - Us (Astral Express, Trailblaze) and technically Misha as well - Robin (The Family, Harmony) - Boothill (Galaxy Rangers, Hunt) - Black Swan (Garden or Recollection, Remembrance) - Acheron (Emanator, Nihility) - Gallagher (Fictionologists, Enigmata) Technically you can also count Aventurine and Dr. Ratio (IPC, Preservation) and Sparkle (Masked Fools, Elation) because there were parts of the story we only knew because of what they did. So we basically had 6 to 8 different factions/paths involved with the quest. This is going to be very tought to beat story-wise for future content just because the setting and setup of the story for Penacony was massive.

    Thanks for the stream! This was Black Swan quote to which I was referring: I believe what you experienced in that sweet dream, except for the flaw, was real.” This is what is confusing me. I know that the Stellaron was affecting us as soon as we arrived, but at this point no one was trapped in the dream. Was dreams and reality mixing at this point? If everything except meeting Misha in the lobby was real, was meeting Misha in the lobby not real? I’m still confused XD Things I’m certain about: Everyone got trapped in the dream when we lost against Sunday but thought we won, and the Stellaron was already affecting everything as soon as we arrived. I just need to figure out what Black Swan meant by “everything we experienced except the flaw (Misha being in the real world, which is impossible) was real.”

  • @stephanieworkman5110
    @stephanieworkman511013 күн бұрын

    In addition, Misha was surprised we talked to him when he was showing us how to get to Golden Hour. It was a hint that most people couldn’t see him. However, I was wondering at the time why he was surprised we talked to him then but not earlier in the lobby. If we really met Misha first in the “lobby” (and therefore we were already in a dream), why did he not act surprised when we talked to him in the lobby but was surprised when we talked to him in the corridor between the dream hotel room and Golden Hour? This makes more sense if we never met Misha in the lobby, and the first time we met him was in between the dream hotel room and the Golden Hour. I believe what Black Swan meant by everything we experience except for the flaw was real is that everything we experienced was real-except for meeting Misha in the lobby. Therefore, we never met Misha in any lobby- we met him in the corridor between the dream hotel room and the Golden Hour. But why did we experience meeting Misha before we ever met him, in that case? Sure the Stellaron was affecting us…but how? If meeting Misha in the main lobby (dream or no dream) wasn’t real, why did we (and Stelle) believe we did so (and we did gameplay wise). Alternatively I’m completely misunderstanding this, and Black Swan was just saying everything we experienced was real, but meeting Misha in the “real” hotel lobby never happened because we met him in the dream. But in that case, our experience was still real: it just took place in a dream. Right now, I’m pretty sure Ena’s dream that trapped everyone didn’t occur until we lost to Sunday, but reality and dreams had already been mixing long before we entered Penacony. That either allowed Misha to exist in the dream that is also reality, or we never met Misha in the lobby. It depends on what Black Swan means by “everything but the flaw was real.” This also makes me wonder if Sparkle wasn’t trying to warn us about Firefly specifically in 2.0, but that she was giving an example of things not being what they seem. Also, I wonder what the ending of the Trash dream was supposed to be: was it supposed to reveal the mixing of reality and dreams? I want to know what happened!

I didn't know if those tests had anything to do with the cake being a lie. I didn't know if GlaDos had anything to do with the cake being a lie. Knowing that the cake was a lie didn't ruin it for me. I played it over Christmas break in 2007. Glados was always the adversary. There was never any question that the "cake" was a lie. I didn't even find Ratman's lair in my first playthrough. The game was always set up with its particular brand of dark humor. The only real twist was when Glados actually tries to kill you (and I'll be honest- I wasn't expecting it, so I did die the first time). Then, all of a sudden, Aperture Science wasn't just a plot device to frame the puzzles. Aperture was real. You were behind the scenes. It stopped feeling like puzzles to solve and suddenly slams you into the narrative. In other words, as somebody who was there, I think you might be overestimating the twist of "the cake is a lie"... You learn right away that the voice is trolling you every step of the way.

    That twist where it turns out we were dreaming the whole time while fighting Sunday pretty much sold me on Penacony's story being the best HSR has ever made. The fact that our entire journey being partly in a dream was given away by something that can be easily overlooked like Misha at the start of the quest in 2.0 is just incredible.

    6:10:00 The only explanation I can think of is Aether & Lumine dropped to teyvat stayed with khanrians saw its destruction and dipped (Like how bro was ready to leave in We Will Be Reunited) but were stopped by sussy (You can enter, not leave teyvat). Lumine was sent backed & continued exploring teyvat with dain(?) & fixed it problems (as mentioned by aranara). My issue is, (1) why is she so attached to khanriah, (2) why call dain traitor, (3) why khanrians are split between pro-abyss & fighting against corruption? Keep in mind I didnt do anything after 3.2 (ie: Caribat, Kaeya SQ2, etc). Finished up the last bit of desert today

    Literally ten minutes in, and you've said "Say, for the sake of argument..." in the exact cadence of Ian Danskin. :P But seriously, in the last few games, you can almost see Coda thinking "You want something to interpret, I'll beat you over the head with the bluntest, most direct themes imaginable.", and almost see the look on their face when Davey is like "I see what the problem is. It's what you're doing to yourself!! And I know just what to do..." And you're just like NOOOOOooOoO

    One interesting difference between GI & Hsr is that in honkai all the factions have their own scheming on a galactic scale + us as a TB also get first hand experienced being inside their schemes (Lord Ravagers, History Fictionologists, Masked Fools) In addition to big boys like the horrifying IPC. While in GI many big actors are playing their hands but intentionally avoid the traveller (especially the abyss order) Of course neither method are bad & hsr also have aeons which have incomprehensible way of thinking. But very interesting nonetheless
