The National Bonsai Foundation

The National Bonsai Foundation

The National Bonsai Foundation sustains the art of bonsai in America and supports the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum in Washington, DC. We're preserving a history, protecting a legacy, and preparing a future for the art of bonsai.

OUR MISSION
Founded in 1982, the National Bonsai Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit that works in cooperation with the U.S. National Arboretum to supply financial, programmatic, and curatorial support for the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. The Foundation offices and Museum are located on the grounds of the Arboretum in Northeast Washington, DC.

This public-private collaboration between the Foundation and the Arboretum enables the Museum to promote the art of bonsai and penjing to visitors through masterpiece displays and educational programs while also fostering intercultural friendship and understanding.

It’s a bit cheeky rocking up to Tokyo and asking them to just give you fifty Bonsai trees!

I wish my country's politicians would finally do something useful and ask the Japanese for Bonsai trees as well..!

I caught the display at the end of March 2024. It was very rewarding. Where do the stones go after leaving the Arboretum?

words are seiju elm leaves too small to express miracles. it is as if the quintessence of the japanese heart is revealed in a fragment of nature. i am eternally grateful for the mind and spirit of the japanese for gifting the world, for turning water into wine.

Hello! I am one of your subscribers in Barcelona Spain, very far from you. I can't believe you only get four comments, I like to walk around the museum this and the previous, history, passion, nature, keep it up and do something to promote yourself

this virtual tour is a great thing to make available, but very odd not to list the CITY/LOCATION of the garden. National Bonsai Foundation, you should always give your location! It's ok everyone reading this - please don't reply with the location, I can look it up. I'm just making the point that people all over the world will watch this video and there's no reason to think they know that the U.S. National Arboretum is in Washington, D.C. The National WW1 Museum, for example, is in Kansas City, Missouri. Thanks again for the tour. I'm hoping to visit in person some day!

Thanks for this wonderful tour, what an amazing place of the most beautiful bonsai. I'm sure many more generations would be gifted to see this place. Hope to visit this place one day for sure.

If someone could follow this up with a trip to the National Arboretum and give us some high pixel photos of these same trees, that would be great, some photos of the stones as well.
