I tend to think the brightness of marker lights should be standardized so as not to confuse people and like dashboard lights, should not be much brighter than stock, so the main lights that I would want to be brighter would be high beams and backup lights with which I like a backup siren, though not too loud a backup siren. With interior lights and marker lights, which might have to be on when the engine isn't. I like LEDs to save energy and battery life, but dim LEDs save even more.

I guess all feet are different! The worst I EVER had were a brand called Moosehead, the sales guy sold me on them being made in Canada, but they were AWFUL. I was happy that they didn't last long and fell apart quickly. CAT boots are terrible too, I think they used the D9 for inspiration. They're like dragging a bulldozer with each foot, they're so heavy. What's your go-to? Take care!

@@ShopKatIndustries I've had pretty good luck with Terra's and Rockport's. I work in a machine shop running a large horizontal boring mill and i'm walking on steel chips and splashed with cutting fluid so that eats up any work boot. If i get a year out of a pair i'm doing good. The Timberlands never seemed to break in. I had sore feet from day 1.

Some great examples of Canadian aviation history. Makes me proud. We have Base Borden Military Museum near us. Ttey have a wide range of historical military equipment, including aviation, on display. Been quite a while since I've been there so really should go back and check it out again. That hobby store looks great. Could definitely drop a few CAD$ in a place like that. Nice job on the light upgrade on the Maverick. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.

"What's left in the fridge to eat?" Refrigerator ownership outside the modern developed world is considered a luxury so that is a bit of a tip off that they really were not all that old or poor, or it would have been the pantry, ice box, cupboard or root cellar.

  • @ShopKatIndustries

Honestly, at that "lake"......chair and beer, yup! Water, not so much. It used to be a great swimming lake when I was a kid, but it's spring-fed and the level has gone down to the point that you could probably walk across it, if not for all the goose poop! We didn't even go down to the "beach" this trip.

Home mechanics may need to specialize more, like on the brands they own, in your case Jeep and Ford, plus Briggs. Anything more sounds like too much for home moonlighting now with very limited parts storage. Certainly VW seems to be it's own specialty even for Mercedes and BMW mechs. You didn't notice much Daimler in your Jeep did you? Though I doubt Willies would have put ratcheting clutches in their alternator pulleys, though I guess a Scott agent might know if Daimler thought that up.

Get a small bucket of clean water, scoop some out with your hands, like with your coffee, and wet your hair, neck, and shirt shoulders, but not your glasses; and lose the hat. Also, take a siesta in order to maximize your work energy at dawn and dusk. I just came in out of the heat to type this after working outside 6-11am.

The '05 Passat had a notorious plastic coolant tube known as the "crack pipe" that I had to replace, with more plastic. One new coolant additive says it has stuff to protect plastic. I wonder if spray wax on the outside could slow that kind of plastic rot? I'm a big fan of spray wax. Plastic parts should be as heavy as metal parts, and therefore several times thicker.
