I was able to take "Democratic Political Thought" with Prof. Boros -- 10 or more years ago. She's an amazing instructor and mentor. We dealt with Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, and others. It was discussion format and I've never felt such an obligation to read the materials. Dr. Boros prepared me better for the real world than any professor in law school.

there used to be a video on youtube of a talk simon gave called 'suicide - a defense'. but it looks like it's been removed. if KZread removed it for 'promoting harmful content' then that is highly disappointing. it was a great talk.

The Earth is cooler with the atmos/GHGs/albedo not warmer. To perform as advertised the GHGs require “extra” energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body. (kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yn6dzNlwXbytXbg.html) The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible. No greenhouse effect, no GHG warming, no man/CO2 driven climate change or Gorebal warming. Version 1.0 050322

Thank you, David, Mookie, the Psych and The Other team, and especially Homi Bhabha for one of the most helpful and painful discussions of racism that I've heard/read. Bhabha's distinction between systemic racism and traumatic racism, and his emphasis on temporality, brings me closer to the experience of BIPOC and reminds me that we have so much work to do to heal the moral and mortal injuries we white folks have inflicted and continue to inflict.

I am curious with what you disagree with and your justification? I have been doing tons of research on this book and I’d love to hear your perspective!😊

Thanks, Martin! Your work is so connected. Inspiring to think about how BC can support the field at this particular moment--I wonder how to ask our partners what they need right now and how we can leverage research and the university to help them.

I’m trying to figure out how am I going to continue my research in the prison system during this epidemic crisis. I’m pursuing my Master’s in Brasil and trying to figure out how the educational perspective can be used when defining a purpose (or life project in Brasil). To do that, I was going to interview some young man incarcerated to determine whether having an access to school while serving they time can help then to find a purpose for the after prison life . I love your videos!

As you said, we are facing a challenging time right now. As a teacher myself, I know that we're doing all we can do to help our students, but it's also a challenge for parents to help their kids at home. We are working all day long to fit into this new way of teaching. Here in Brazil, we are really worried about students from public schools because some of them don't have access to the internet and don't have even an electronic device to watch their online classes. It's not easy, but I have faith the pandemic will end soon and we'll be able to teach again in a classroom with our students.

As a private school teacher I believe the only way we can go through this is by truly empathizing with each other. Parents should be aware that we have been trying to do the best we can (I speak for myself and my peers) so that we can keep a good quality of education, and teachers should act as facilitators since most parents have been struggling with homeschooling and their other duties. Here in Brazil the situation is even worse, as most of the students in Public Schools haven't been having classes due to the lack of resources. So, I always try to raise my students' conciousness telling them they are really privileged people and that they have to make the most out of this opportunity. It's time for us to put all our efforts on making it work.
