Then Crete was still another planet. But we changed and Matala changed.... Which cooking mama you refer to? The one at the bakery, Mama's shop. Or Mama Omelette, the wife of Giorgos. The one she was knitting and knitting in the place where we could do phone calls from. I lived there from 75-77 on and off, but in the caves towards Red Beach.

I was here in 1966, we sold our American Ford Willys Jeep to a farmer (illegally), and when we got back to Athens we saw the tanks, and just made it over the border when the revolution started. I wonder if Steve is still there. A blonde English guy who was with us who decided to stay on.

"pinnacles"... "...figures look like... see yourself." ?! oh grow up! they are simply classic phallic symbols. timeless expressions of vitality... or as hindu art describes them: the "lingum" symbol... symbolic of "the formative power of the universe". they were once more common everywhere, before aggressive western puritanical values caused a negative and inhibited reaction.

We stayed here last Sept on part of our honeymoon. The water was great and we even climbed up to some of the caves. We'll be going back again some day.

They keep stomping, but they keep missing those pidgeons. I somehow think tha the original Greek soldiers would have done better. They musta got pretty hungry fighting those Turks. JK, no disrespect intended.

Dead serious i guess. That's the Uknown Soldiers monument in Athens. It's a symbol for all soldiers that died during WWII (English, French, American, Greek, Russian...) That's the honour guard for the monument and the unorthodox uniforms are the Greek traditional uniforms from 800bc and after. As for the silly walks, i think you should search for military walks. It's the same with Russian and it comes from mediaval Byzantium.

love this road too. it is shorter than Kourtalioti but not less impressive. but that turning at 0.17 -0 .27 is quite a difficult thing for big buses. anyway good bus is the best transport for me.
